So, I watched the trailer of Lottery Ticket many, many times whilst high and I laughed my ass off. Was pretty disappointed by the whole film. Big surprise, huh? I mean, it only starred Bow Wow. C+

Liberty's Edge

The real solution is obvious: take favoured enemy outsider (paladin).

Liberty's Edge

Oh hey, I watched Fargo. This skyperson was watching it and said it was his favourite movie, so I'm like, "What the hell" and I go for it.

Apart from being similar to Raising Arizona in style and mood (literatur terms), and apart from lacking Nicolas Cage, it was pretty cool.
I laughed inappropriately now and then. (NOT when she's running away. But when the hulk guy was doing stuff and looking blank? Yeah.)
A?

Liberty's Edge

Soooooooo much chemistry reading. Should I stay up all night?

Liberty's Edge

You know, I think this title isn't endearing anyone who post here to the fawlties at all. Maybe I'll necro another thread to co-opt.

Don't you dare. This thread is awesome.

Might work. I claim the title of Queen.

There's three of us. A goblin, a dead goblin, and a half-insane tiefling. We need to attract more people.

Whereza da fire!?!

Gotsta burnburnburn alla da time!!!

What's with this thread and goblins?

Gobbos rule!!!

Burnburnburn!

Slashstabskewer!!

*sigh* Smite evil.

Well, in addition to the obvious awesomeness of goblins, this thread is a tribute to Gark getting kicked out of Fawtl. Something to do with Dick Cheney, if I recall.

I couldn't let that happen to the Paizonian who favorites over three-fourths of posts, so I made the Refugee thread my home away from home.

Welcome, Wikid Smart Bozz Gob. Would you like some honey mead?

Surely Gark could go back now. They forgave me, after all.

Well, maybe not forgave, but tolerate.

Still, we aren't saying no FAWTL thread for us, just a new one.

Fawtl isn't big enough for Gark's awesomeness. He needs his own thread in which to shine.

As for attracting more people, I use this thread to let Gark know about my near-misses with the legal authorities, my activities as a militant Teamster shop steward, and all the movies I watch when I am high.

This thread might work best with low-traffic.

Anyway, I got to get motoring...

Ooohhhhh....mead.

Booze + sweet + fire =awesome!!!

'Sides, I ain't Evil, just Chaotic.

And a goblin..

Ahahahahahahaha.

I used to think that I could, but signs point to, "No." Even before I acted jerkily, my posting style grated on their nerves (responses to every post, oblique references to politics, very non-oblique references to the best comic [or anything] currently in existance, and ironic wordplay). The final freakout was caused by a relatively minor offense - a joke with an alias that had a self-deprecatingly bad alleged "pun" on a politician's name - but the fallout was huge.

Really, the best way for me to get on their good side (very impossible) is to shut up. I once wished to return, but only, I think, for the memories. In the original thread, everyone was trying to blow the post count (and IsaacX's idiomatic mind) out of the water. Now it's mostly about talking about their days.* I can do that with skypeople, or in real life. I don't really need a FaWTL!!!! any more.

Some of the above may be rationalisation. Beware.

Most of the above is emo. Woo! Edit: Oh shit there's some stuff below too.

*In retrospect it seems a self-indulgence worthy of myself.

Come on. Stick your head in the thread. What's the worst that can happen?

Love and acceptance!

Liberty's Edge

Okay, screw this "extra practice" and "review problems . . .

FUCH

YES

Done with this chapter.

I think the thing is, Kelsey, that where you naturally and unconsciously--and quite successfully!--acted as a troll, with Gark and I it's a more studied, purposeful thing. Our trolling is much like bushido; it's a code that gives our lives meaning.

Nevermind. You wouldn't understand. It's a goblin thing.

Alcohol and sugar and flame is indeed, a righteous time.

Although I still have burn marks from New Year's when we tried setting the bonfire alight by soaking it in kerosene and shooting bottle rockets at it!

A++++. Fargo is the shiznit, kid! I doubt that you ever laughed inappropriately--those were the only kind of laughs in that flick!

Don't mean to be presumptuous or condescending, but:

Spoiler:
Boyo, if you haven't delved into the filmography of the Coen Brothers, well, I've got some homework for you:

I'm a big fan of starting at the beginning: Blood Simple. A little on the cheap side, but pretty effective and it sets up a whole bunch of motifs that will continue throughout their career.

Next, Miller's Crossing. Thus begins the Coens' obsession with reworking the movies of the thirties and forties. The first hints of the Coen Brothers Stock Company (Turturro, Buscemi, Goodman, Badalucco, etc.) appear and I also think this is their first one with DoP Roger Deakins. Anyway, it's a crackin' mob movie.

Barton Fink This movie for a couple of years was my favorite movie ever...

until the world's bestest movie ever made was actually made.

Their recent flicks have been a bit spotty, but No Country for Old Men and True Grit were both awesome.

spoiler stuff

Oh yeah! I watched True Grit on a tiny screen during a plane ride! I watched a lot of movies on that plane ride. I should have been sleeping, but I had so much pop culture to catch up on.

True Grit is pretty good, I guess?

Anyway, thanks. I need to check out the next Scott Pilgrim book (#4) today, and it's usually best to check out more than one thing at a time.

Then again, I have so much shit to do this weekend: A chapter and a half of heavy chemistry reading, probably thirty pages of biology, some math (easy), a research project for bio and a lab for chemistry, and some reading for my Intro to EcoE class. Distractions may not be needed.

I'll still check them out, though.

So that friend who says Fargo is the best? Link. (Not included on there) He likes Kafka!

You say they tolerate me because my trolling is out of social cluelessness, but not Gark because he does it on purpose?

Liberty's Edge

Exxxxxxxxactly. And on that note, time for a couple hours of class.

And this?

Did I mention this rule is dumb?

[Comment redacted to avoid the wrath of the staff]

Hee hee!

Well, first, whether they'll tolerate you, Kelsey, depends on how you behave in the future.

As for Gark, he relishes his role as posteur provocateur and, literally, enfant terrible too much to go back. Wouldn't be his style.

As for myself, I go where I want 'cause I'm from New Hampshire. Live free or die, b!~!#es!!!

Please to cut out the French shit.

Anyway, I do everything for the irony. Except like Avatar, which is an indisputable amazing movie and cannot be improved with added layers of irony. But everything else. Trolling encompasses some of the baser levels of irony, but, ironically, it also occupies some of the higher echelons. One of the lower levels is not explaining the joke in the same post, and that is one of the reasons I come off as a "terrible infant" or whatever.

Anyway, Leafar the Lost is the shiznit. Every troll should aspire to achieve his poise and commitment to the joke.

All hail Leafar the Loved!

Also, okay, I think I've got tomorrow night's game planned out: start out with a couple of carrion crawlers for an h'ors d'oeuvre, proceed along to a ghoul casserole, cleanse the palette with a little wraith bisque and voila! finish with an entree of phase spider!

Serve chilled. Like the grave.

That . . . sure is a religion you have there!

From humble beginnings grow great empires. I am the salt of the earth, upon which Leafar will build his church. Or something.

Le Français rend tout meilleur, Gark. Tout.

So, guess who's moving to Montana?

Liberty's Edge

MC Chris?

No.

Liberty's Edge

Robert Kennedy?

Liberty's Edge

Rumpelstiltskin?

True Grit was pretty good, I liked it better than the OG. Having said that, the girl was a f~$&ing hard ass. i.e. I loved her.

On Palys.

Most folk have no bloody idea how to play one. The GOOD comes first, the LAWFUL comes from their PERSONAL code of conduct.

It's kinda how you can have religious friends, but really despise the ones who shove it down your throat.

Good Pali/Bad Pali.

Liberty's Edge

DA, gitcher azz over to this thread! Goblin supremacy! (Also probably this is a great comic to read for its reduced spin on the goblin downtrodden. And Start of Darkness is almost required for the up-and-coming goblin provocateur.)

Liberty's Edge

Oshi- LPM's here.

Hide the "contraband!"

I address that here.

Yea, Paladins are fun, but they can be really disruptive if you play them wrong.

Paladins? Bring me a challenge. Somebody. I don't believe in Paladins. I believe in winning.

There’s a new sheriff in town. And he has an army of assassins.

Okay, hold it. We're not gonna have another "Evil Act" thing going on here, right? We'll all act like mature, responsible adults, right?

Right?

SMITE EVIL!

Liberty's Edge

Wow Kelsey that is a lot of text.

Gotta be careful it doesn't get locked, okay?

A Paladin will tell you he'll lay down his sword. Really? Wow, dude's unarmed. WHACK. Dying is for fools. Amateurs. Here’s your cold coffee. Buh-bye. I dare you to keep up with me. Thought you were messing with one dude? Sorry, Paladin. We’re Vatican assassins. How complicated can it be?

Winning. Everyday.
