Half elf question

3.5/d20/OGL

The description of half-elf states: "Elf Blood: Half-elves count as both elves and humans for any effect related to race."

Does this mean a half-elf can take a "Race: Human" prestige class in the same manner they can take a "Race: Elf" prestige class.

Question Specific to the changeling WoTC prestige class.

Grand Lodge

Yes.

As far as I know...
The Half Elf can take a PrC open only to humans or open only to elves unless the book specifically says otherwise -- or the DM specifically says otherwise (which is far more important considering PrCs are designed to be world or campaign specific).

So, ask your DM.

Remember that it's a double-edged sword. A ranger with Favoured Enemy Humaniod (Human) will gain their bonuses against half elves, as well rangers with Favoured Enemy Humaniod (Elf).

The advantage it provides is that elf and human only feats/classes and abilities are avaliable for both. So if a feat has "Elf" as a prerequisite, they can take it (Unless it's somthing specific, like "Drow").

Same with Bane weapons and similar effects.

I agree about the PrC. Also, half-elves could make both a cloak of elvenkind and matching boots of humankind (whatever that would be).
