Watching to much BASTARD! Manga and thinking of the pure fire mage who gives up the ability to use cold magics in order to empower his fire spells.

Heart of Fire
Requirement: Arcane caster, Must not have the Heart of Ice feat.

Benefit: When casting spells of the Fire subtype you deal +1 damage per die. You may no longer cast spells of the cold subtype.

Heart of Ice
Requirement: Arcane caster, Must not have the Heart of Ice Fire.

Benefit: When casting spells of the Cold subtype you deal +1 damage per die. You may no longer cast spells of the fire subtype.

Heart of Acid
Requirement: Arcane caster, Must not have the Heart of Storms feat.

Benefit: When casting spells of the Acid subtype you deal +1 damage per die. You may no longer cast spells of the electricity subtype.

Heart of Storms
Requirement: Arcane caster, Must not have the Heart of Acid feat.

Benefit: When casting spells of the electricity subtype you deal +1 damage per die. You may no longer cast spells of the acid subtype.

its an interesting idea, but I think its a little too good. I think almost any caster that hurls a damage energy spell now and then would take this feat. My suggestion is in addition to the banned opposing energy type, other energy subtype spells are cast with -1 die. Just my two cents though. Then a real choice has to be made, because you cannot still avail yourself on equal footing with the other energy types if you should say come up against something with resistance or immunity to your energy type.

Well I am also trying to encourage spell casters to the blasting spells. It has been said over and over that arcane casters that concentrate on damage spells are gimped.

I like to think of this as weapon specialization for casters.

Also since this is tied to damage dice and not to level every spell has a built in cap to how much better it can get.

Burning hands will get +5
chill touch +1
Lightning bolt +10
Fire Ball +10
Wall of fire +2
Ice Storm +3
Cone of cold +15
Acid Fog +2

Well what I've heard over and over is that casters have much cooler things to do than just blast...

In any case this really steps on the toes of the sorcerer's draconic bloodline which offers a nearly identical power. Why not just take the draconic bloodline sorcerer? Not only does it get the +1/ die, it also gets additional bloodline powers (with scaling DCs) that let them blast even more.

Does this feat stack with bloodline arcana? Does it stack with the Evoker's school power?

My concern is Pathfinder did some things to boost the effectiveness of certain classes and taking some of those things and making them generic will water down those changes.

EDIT: In other words PfRPG makes sorcerers significantly better blasters than wizards and you are undermining that.

Yes it would stack and there is no reason that the sorcerer can't take it.

I was originally thinking of limiting the feats to the Dragon and Elemental bloodlines but decided to open it up to all arcane casters.

Broken when taken with Energy Substitution, which doesn't even have a spell level adjustment.

EDIT: By "broken" I don't mean "overpowered" as much as I mean "easily circumvents all the intended drawbacks, leaving the ability unbalanced".

I have no problem with players using fireball substituting it to their favorite energy type.

If they are playing a cold mage they can cast a fireball or lightning bolt swap it to cold and get the extra damage. What they can not do is take a cone of cold grab the extra damage then swap it into fire. Once you apply the energy substitution it becomes the new energy type.

An acid mage can not cast a lightning bolt unless he uses energy substitution.

Overpowered IMO.
