P125, Greater Shield Focus prerequisites: The prerequisites for that feat includes BOTH a base attack bonus of +1, AND 8 levels in the Fighter class!!
I would hazard that the +1 base attack bonus does not add much to the prerequisites and could be easily removed without any impact!!! :)
The same situation is present for the prerequisites for the Penetrating Strike feat (P131)... +1 BaB AND a level 12 Fighter!

These entries restate the prereqs of the feats in the prereqs for Greater Shield Focus and Penetrating Strike, that is all.

Incorrect: Check the Greater Penetrating Strike feat P125: They do not re-list the +1 BaB requirement (from the Penetrating strike requirement) with the 16th level Fighter...!
They simply forgot to remove these useless requirements (or didn't think to remove them - hence my pointing it out for them)
Also note that Greater Weapon Focus has a useless +1 BaB entry to accompany the 8th level Fighter requirement!

Suppose there are 8 different "base" classes released in PF splatbooks, that each have medium or slow BAB progression, and that count levels in those classes for the purpose of qualifying for fighter feats.
Then it would be quite possible to have 8 "virtual fighter" levels while still having +0 BAB.
Is the situation unlikely? Yes.
Is it impossible? No.

Shield Focus is a prerequisite for Greater Shield Focus. Shield Focus requires a BAB of +1. That means that a +1 BAB is already a necessary condition for Greater Shield Focus, without it being a prerequisite.
To extend the implausible situation to the bounds of incredulity, suppose on of those classes grants Shield Focus as a bonus feat, even if you don't meet the prerequisite.

If that happens, then the 8th level player with +0 BAB deserves Greater Shield Focus, even if he doesn't have the +1 BAB!

Easy: because that BaB requirement is not present for the Greater Penetrating Strike....!! Yet is is for the others...
This is an inconsistency error. Either you mention that +1 BaB all the time it is required, or you don't (in the context of that high level Fighter requirement).
Paizo can choose to ignore this if they wish. I am just pointing it out (for them, not for anyone else... and before you ask; They asked me to post my findings in this forum section for later examination...)
