So, we had a situation where our players were stuck with using spell like abilities in combat, and they were threatened by a menacing otyugh. The problem wasn't that, we were more than certain they provoked and we didn't know if it disrupted, so we just assumed it didn't and moved on.
I now know that was wrong, but that's not the problem...
The PROBLEM, is that those spell like abilities that domain powers and wizard schools get, don't list a spell level. SO how do you determine the DC for the check on a disruption roll?
Is it spell level 1 or 0?
I'd say they're 1st level. They're stronger than cantrips for sure.
Thats what I figured, the problem is this...
Some EMULATE 0 level cantrips, you just get a higher DC for them, and others emulate 1st level spells...so its kinda hard to see it exactly as that way, does Jason or James know what the intent was?
Which specific abilities are you referencing here? Maybe Im misunderstanding the question, but all the abilities clerics/wizards/sorcs gain at first level are (Su) so they don't provoke attacks of opportunity and, thus, aren't prone to disruption.
Actually, most of them are (Sp). Six of the cleric domains, two of the wizard schools, and three of the sorcerer bloodlines have (Su) or (Ex) "at will" powers. That's far less than half of each.
