Obscuring Mist vs. Shriekers

Rules Questions

PF #25's sewer encounter brought up an interesting question. What effect would an obscuring mist spell have on a patch of shriekers?

IMHO, it would obscure their light sources. Do shriekers have some kind of tremorsense that alerts them to movement? (That would no rely on visual cues)

The manual states that movement or a light source alerts then, so I would hazard a guess that yes they would still react.

MM1 Plant traits say that plants have low light vision!

I would say they have Tremorsense of sorts.

Thanks.

In the Pathfinder RPG, shriekers are no longer actual monsters but hazards; see page 416 of the Core RPG. The rules are a bit sketchy for exactly how they work though, alas, so it's probably best for the GM to make some spot decisions when it comes to unusual situations like obscuring mist.

That said... I would probably allow obscuring mist to defeat shriekers, since they're not supposed to be supertough hazards. They don't even have CR scores!

Same here. At the very least let the party attempt it with Ob. Mist and maybe some other plan together.

Abbreviating it "Ob. Mist" makes me think it's some sort of special attack belched out of Obox-ob, the obyrith lord of scorpions and other gross things. That's probably just me, though.

You must have loved the flatulence comparison to channel healing a few days ago than. :)

Sometimes you are just plain weird :)
