Will there be a map of Golarion?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Hi,

I am currently reading the Campaing Setting which contains a map of the "Inner Sea Region".

Will the be a map of the rest of the world? So I get to see a map of Vudra and Tian Xia? Or are these left empty spots on purpose as to allow more freedom when adventuring there?

Eventually, yes; we'll have a map of the rest of the world and will have more information about the other regions.

When the days comes that you put together the map of Golarion... I hope it is made of high quality materials.

I personally will be very willing to pay a little more for a high quality map that will stand up to being folded and used without the fear of ripping.

Any plans on making a globe?

:-)

Is there an example of "low-quality materials" we've used on Pathfinder products in the past that would be an example of what to avoid?

(A semi-snarky way of saying, "We will use good materials for our stuff because we're proud of our stuff and it deserves to be on high-quality materials.")

We have MANY plans like this, although they start dovetailing into the "How much money can we charge our fans to buy things that are super deluxe and probably things that our editors couldn't afford to buy if they didn't get them for free?" category.

In other words... a globe would be cool, but we're not sure yet how to actually produce and ship and stock and sell and distribute something like this for an amount of money that wouldn't incite flame wars and get us called Pai$o.

I did post this question elsewhere but this seems more relevent.

Does Glorarion have blank lands by which I mean areas which will *never* be developed officially and could be used for DM creation?

No. Everything in Golarion is a potential area for Paizo to further develop. But there are more areas in Golarion than we'll ever have time to develop, so some of the regions will end up having relatively little development by us as a result. But we aren't specifically setting aside parts of the world to never touch.

But if I had to pick one place that would be the "Most Likely to never have Paizo develop more content for," that place would probably be Alkenstar.

LOL!

I'm glad to hear it. I'm just thinking of the two campaign maps I do have that are both worn to the point that a stiff breeze may tear them from all the folding and use they have suffered.

Grumble Grumble... Alkenstar hater... grumble. :p

Thanks. Nothing would annoy me more than to spend weeks detailing an area only to have it trashed by an official source, so Alkenstar it is!

As for globes, the sad man that I am, I ran a Traveller game years ago and made dodecahedron(?) globes for an entire system. It really does add something. You could do it for Gloarion as a downloadable pdf easy.
And all they wanted to do was hang out in the Starport :(

True, globes would certainly be a nice niche item that would only appeal to the Paizo fan-boys and -girls all over the world. Pricing would definitely be one of the biggest factors. Maybe someone will do a "virtual globe" that can be accessed though the internet... not as cool as the world sitting in the middle of your gaming table (or hanging from the ceiling). Ooh!! That makes me think that a solar system mobile might be in order... hmmm...

Sheesh, I better stop while I can...

I'm starting to picture the do it yourself Golarion Solar System mobile: Collect every planet! With every purchase, you also get a World Gazetteer!

Not sure how feasible, but what about a beach ball blow up globe? All the fun and size, without the incredible cost and weight of a formal globe (I've priced a few of those for fun and ouch!)

But James, think of the bling and street cred you'd get for being Pai$o!!

I was thinking the same thing - blow up beach ball Golarion would be teh hawtness.

How about:

1) Selling the same map in the Campaign Setting but rolled up instead of folded. (which I could then get framed)

2) A large vinyl map like this one?

I'd think that a rolled up map of Golarion or even the Campaign Setting map would be nice rolled up rather then the traditional map folding, I know that my map is one dumb kid away from being individual squares of paper and I would jump for joy if I had a rolled map of heavier material I could wheel around without fear of one 'stupid fingers' kid blowing my map up.

Silver Crusade

Rolled map thirded! I thought the same thing reading through the thread, but got ninja'd. I'm cool with that. the more people who like the idea, the more likely the good folks at Paizo will offer it. They sold the "3.5 Thrives" poster, so it's something very doable for them.

I own that! I bought mine at GenCon the year Ptolus released. I keep it rolled up in my closet. Don't really have any place to put it right now. :-(

The cloth map that came with the Dark Sun box, many years ago, was absolutely awesome!

That would be a good idea, and probably nowhere as pricey as a globe.

My eyes fill with tears when you say such painful things, James. ;_;

I'm still waiting for the Goblin plushie.

Sovereign Court

Heh, and of course I simply adore Alkenstar. It's one of the few entries in the Nations chapter in the PFCS which I've read throughout.

Yeah yeah it has firearms. To me that's a thing of awesome, simply because it's the only place with them and with a *reason* to have them.

I think a good rolled 2-sided paper map is the way to go. Keep production and shipping costs down. Those who want more can take it down the the local Kinkos and have them laminate it for $25.
