Initiative Cards

Homebrew and House Rules

I use initiative cards in my games and thought that since I went ahead and made these for the new Pathfinder Roleplaying Game I would share it with others. So here you go, monster cards soon to follow after I tweek these a little more. I also have a PDF version that looks clearer but I don't have a host site for it.

Nice job Terry. I'm a big fan of intiative cards as well. I can't imagine being able to effectively manage turns without them.

Terry, if you want, I can host the PDF on my site and I would, of course, give you 100% credit.

email me if this is okay with you.

And dude, fill out your profile! lol

Krome was nice enough to put the pdf onto his site for me. And again I'm working on monster cards to go with these as well.

If anyone has ideas to make them better or just easier to use I'm open for change.

I'm interested in seeing what you come up with for monster cards. I recently used microsoft word to make a template for myself to type in stuff on front and back, then print out either on cardstock or have laminated. I would like to see some sort of .pdf with inputable fields that can be printed out, but my .pdf creation-fu is weak. If anyone has tips on free .pdf creation software, I'm all ears.

I THINK Adobe still has a way to create PDFs online... not sure if it costs though... didn't find it, so maybe not available any more. Just an idea to look around though.

I finished up the monster cards.

Hi Terry,

Any chance of adding a delay/ready tab in the top left corner?

These look very nice, good job!

Mine are just written out on index cards but one thing I included that you may want to as well is a section for languages known. It's pretty handy and saves me having to ask each player to recite the list of languages each of their character knows whenever they encounter something other than Common.

Nice cards!

Go a step further and buy a cheap magnet board(9x14, might need slightly larger for these cards) from Wal-mart and some Magnetic tape for the back of the laminated cards.(Board & Tape under $9 total) Works great if you hang it or have a wire picture stand(what we use) to prop it up on, allows the player's to actively see when their turn is coming, speeding up combat quite a bit.

I like the cards, but I think there is too much on them already for initiative cards. Intelligent characters are going to have a healthy list of languages. After too long it would've just been easier to photocopy character sheets, rather than trying to write/read in a relatively small space.

To each their own though, our groups initiative cards are probably TOO simple for most groups... Name, Initiative Roll, Small room for modifiers. (Bless, Prayer, etc.)

I can try to do that not sure if I have the parent file anymore or not. Sorry it has been so long since I got on this thread I lost track of it and only recently found it again.

I thought of this but it looked to be getting really cluttered already and I wanted to leave enough room (Notes/Special Abilities)for a DM to add at their own discretion.
