I just got an email from the company that I preordered the Pathfinder book from a month ago....something along the lines of, "Sorry this title is out of stock, we have cancelled your order, we apoligise for any inconvenience". I knew I should have stuck with Paizo, but the postage to Australia was just too much.
I feel really upset.
I just had to vent to some people who would understand why I am upset. To the rest of the world...it is just a book.

Man that Sucks Sandra.
Did you pre-order from MilSims? I'm not a big fan of MilSims personally.
I ordered from my FLGS here in Newcastle only 2 weeks ago and my copy is already in there waiting for me to pick up on Thursday. And they told me that they have an extra one because there have been a few people asking for it.
I'll give you the number for them if you like and you can give them a try.
The shop is called The Games Shop and their phone number is 0249478848.
It ended up being $95 which is cheaper than what we would have gotten it for through Paizo (US$50 PFRPG + US$50 P&H = AUS$120).
Hope that helps. :)

Geez! That really sucks. :( That's a really crappy deal that the company handed you. Don't do business with them again! That's the best way to show your dissatifaction with them. Sorry thing went badly for you and you won't get the book when you were promised. Maybe some other disributor in Australia might have a copy that no pre-order customer has claimed yet? Might be worth looking into. Or maybe Amazon? I don't know if they have a distributor in Australia or if you would have to pay for the overseas shipping. Best of luck getting your copy.

The worst thing is that it is a pre-order for two gaming groups....it is 9 books. How do I tell the others??
I literally feel a bit sick and upset.
A good deal is sometime too good to be true....the books was $60AUS.
Edit: Fishpond is the Australian company associated with Amazon, hence I thought I was pretty safe going with them.

Wow! That is truly horrendous Customer Service. I definately would not be going through them ever again. My FLGS up here is actaully pretty good to me. They order in stuff special for mew all the time that they wouldn't normally stock (previously I've ordered SW RPG, WARS RPG, Pathfinder books and they've looked into some other stuff foe me). Maybe it's worth the drive up here. :)

I have just spoken to one of the guys I was ordering for, he reinterated that this was not my fault.
My husband is no help, he just shrugged his shoulders and told me that we should just wait til the second print run in Novemeber.....I could do that, but I don't want to.
We have actually killed off one of our camapigns in expectaion in getting the books this month and starting in the new system.
I am planning to ring Department of Fair Trading tomorrow to check what, if anything, a pre-order guarentees.
PDF, here we come.
Still upset, but calming down....
Edit: Now to send the rest of the bunch the email and see what they want to do.

Thanks Flash :)
One of my pre-order people is in Newcastle, so I have let him know. Just waiting on replies now....
I wonder if I ordered from Paizo now if I would get nine of the little restock they are getting in a couple of weeks??

I have learned that the best solution to a problem like this is high explosives and large caibre handguns. ;p Actually, I would look for another distributer that can meet your needs. Of course, not even Paizo anticipated the first run of Pathfinder Core selling out, so chock it up to an act of Iomeda.

$50 to ship a large hardback to Australia?!?! Holy Sh*t!
USPS.com says I could send a 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8" package of up to 20lb. via Priority Mail for $39.85. Not cheap, but still. I hate when companies charge more postage than what it actually costs.
If I knew anyone overseas that needed it... if they could get it to me here in FL (my nsFLGS have already met their pre-order), I'd mail it to them at cost (maybe +$1 or +$2 as an optional tip, if so inclined, but no more). I live less than a mile from my post-office and can do most of the work online anyway.
(I'm serious about this, email in profile.)

Man, that's a bummer. I hope you at least write a letter to the company that left you hanging, expressing your disappointment and anger at the situation.
No joy yet. Under Australian law they are required to honour the order, including the price (not that they are coming to the party). No letter, but a formal complaint to the Department of Fair Trading coming up.
Still annoyed...but I have just checked with a friend with access to a large colour laser printer and he is happy to print out the PDF if we supply the paper. Not the best solution, but better than nothing.
have learnt my lesson and are coming back to the Paizo fold.....

I really wish that I hadn't been so nice as to organise for everyone else...if it was just me:
-1 book is easier to find than 9
-I don't have to take what everyone wants into account, just have to worry about what I and my husband wants.

I would like to thank everyone for their sympathy.
Good news, a friend has managed to grab an order of 9 books from a distributer he is friendly with. It was a bit more expensive (yes they are from Milsims, Flash), but they will be here in one to two weeks.
Big sigh of relief....
