My Precious! Happy Happy Joy Joy

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

The Core Rulebook arrived! It is beautiful! It is the best gaming book I've purchased in probably the last 10 years if not longer!

Thank you Paizo Staff! Thank you Jason!

That's just mean.

Posting your joy whilst the rest of us must continue to wait.

:P

Congrats on getting it early.

Edit: Where are you located? It might give some of us hope. ;)

Sorry.. Couldn't resist...

I'm out of SE Wisconsin. I'm amazed how fast the shipped packages get here. Good luck everyone on getting yours!

Jonathan

I am hopeful for today's mail delivery. Mine shiped Tuesday, and I am in Oregon. We'll see.

Actually I consider not posting anything if it did, because that whole "August PDFs" thread kinda was a hassle for poor Vic.. But someone has let it out of the bag.

We'll see in about an hour or so.

I'm in Minneapolis and I didn't pre-order because of how long it takes for my Pathfinder items to arrive. My usual delay between the "your package has been sent!" to getting it my grubby mits is on average 10 days. Yes 10 days.

I kind of wish I had overnighted it so I could have it before Gen Con, but alas, I'll just be running to their booth first thing Thursday morning instead.

Please do us the favor and report back on what you find here.

Mine just got here too ..... its so huge and shiny!!!!! And, of course, the day is full and I've got absolutely no time to look at until maybe Sunday night.

But it looks soooooo nice. I am in Maryland, BTW.

Mine showed up today as well (just outside of Philadelphia); ironically the same day as my July shipment.

First errata, though: Page 16, point-buy table. I'm assuming that a 9 costs -1 points, not 1 point, since you start with a 10.

This is already covered in the first update, which will go live on Thursday.

Folks should hold off on any catches like this until the first update is out and we have the proper forums in place for it.

Ouch! That's a pretty big mistake in my eyes. :(

Wait until your eyes have proofread six hundred pages. Let's see if there's any room in them for anything besides swollen blood vessels.

A minus sign? A big mistake? Only if it's in a rocket trajectory :-)

It's a 576 page book. There will be errors. It's statistically improbable for them not to show up. That's just how it goes. SKR made a blog post on typos and errors in published works that I think everyone should read before criticizing Paizo about anything in this or any other book (or WotC or any other publisher, for that matter). I can't find the link to it now, but Sean will be able to I'm sure.

I was surprised to get mine today too. The mail seems to moving smoothly in southern WI as I'm just south of Madison. I knew it would be a big book, but I was still impressed with how big it is.

I work on databases used in clinical trials. We have an acceptable error rate of 0.05% (sample size is dependent on the number of records we have to audit) in double key data entry. We regularly go below that mark, but even a 0.01% error rate could equate to 20-30 errors in the quantity of data we're auditing. Using that as a gauge, I think a single missing minus in a RPG book wouldn't classify as a disaster.

Fair enough; I just knew that errata in other books were just thrown in random threads.

I've read through the first 5 chapters so far; good stuff. I love the chapter headers.

I can't accept that the Paizo gods have abandoned your editing department to the point of allowing any errors. What have you done to cause this sacrilege? You must immediately make the appropriate sacrifices & do penance to insure that this NEVER happens again.

:P

Y'know, for the Core Rules it's clearly crucial for such Errata to be prominently displayed, say on the product page itself, but it would be rather nice for ALL Paizo products to get this treatment... Maybe even in the "My Account/ Downloads" section, include the latest Errata updates for EVERY product you've ordered thru your Paizo account, somehow indicating if it has been updated recently (this goes for an Errata on the product page itself).
