Pathfinder RPG Character Sheet v.0.3.1

This is pretty slick so far. Which version would you like to upload to the Pathfinder DB?

Thanks! Suggestions from folks are helping to fine-tune things (GG already has several personal touches in place, with more to come).

Hmm, I'm plowing through the OGC material right now, adding little tweaks here and there as folks suggest them. Once the OGC is done, I'll be turning my attention to class automation and that will take some time. I'd say wait until I've started that process, as it'll then be "pretty done." and also will provide a handy set of tables showing folks all the OGC traits and feats.

The class and feat automation will probably be the tipping point for pushing this over 1 MB. I could save up to the new version of Excel and do some cleaner codes, but that'll knock out compatibility for a huge chunk of folks. I'll probably wait until I've got that big step complete, then do a re-write to the XLSX format and have two versions. I'm not a huge fan of parallel version control, but once the class/feat bit is done future changes shouldn't be too bad.

Liberty's Edge

Excellent work on the Spreadsheet (no pun intended).

Wow... great job on this erian_7. :applause:

Thanks all! I do it for the accolades, so you're refueling my tank...This is also when my Obsessive-Compulsive trait comes in handy!

As a note, I've completed my OGC pass on all supplements, so that just leaves the adventure paths and modules. I know about the Mark in RotRL 1, but don't recall too much being in those. If anyone recalls a feat or trait hanging around in them I'd appreciate a heads-up.

Under languages, you're missing Shoanti, and you might want to change "Common" to Chelaxian ::chuckle:: since you have Taldane listed separately (and those two trade back and forth for common).

Also noticed missing the Spirit Totem of the Shoanti, still trying to remember which book that was from.

When I'm more awake, I'll see what else I find :)

This sheet is awesome Erian, Thanks a Ton.

As an aside and since I the boards don't have PM's. Are you the same Erian that was Ghostorb back when it was functional?

Thanks as always, GG! Looks like I'm missing Boggard and Varisian Tattoo from the RotRL PG as well. I'll get those added.

For the automated languages, I left "Common" on the Back sheet so I don't have to switch between the game-specific Common. I could add a little automation to fix that...

Ah GhostOrb--a grand vision that never quite took flight...

I am indeed the same fellow from those boards. Howdy Iceraven!

Excellent Sheet, Erian. Keep up the good work!

(By the way, I remember you from Ghostorb as well!)

I can't imagine how long it would take to put something like that together. Many thanks. A few questions/comments:

Most of the Skills are not auto-populating for me (I have Ability Scores entered in, and but the Skill Mod column registers '###' as does the Calc Mod column), even after I add ranks. Perhaps because I'm using OpenOffice and there might be compatibility issues?

After selecting Weapon Finesse as a feat, it seems I have to manually enter the new To-Hit information in the Weapon boxes (and remove your calculation infomration. Is that correct, or am I missing something else I need to click/do?

Also, I'm house-ruling a different way of generating initial ability scores and the "too many points" notice is distracting. You might consider adding an "other system" option for the point-buy drop-down. Very minor point, though.

Thanks again for your hard work.

Hammered out v.0.3 today, adding in support for Golarion languages and traits. I've also added in the data for many Golarion feats, but no functionality for that yet. Oh, and this version properly displays the Community Use Policy in addition to the OGL.

Pathfinder RPG Character Sheet v.0.3

I've left v.0.2 up as version control, in case I broke something big in v.0.3...

WTB a char sheet with a place to write down the concentration check total, ER/weakness, max Dex on armor, Knowledge (something) and more space for class/levels. These are my gripes with the "official" sheet.
I hadn't thought about a section for concentration since it's no longer a skill. Mine's not based around the official version, of course, but I could work in something for concentration checks on the Spell sheet.

I like that fact that there is a dropdown list for feats, but they are to small to read until you select the feat. Could you let me know how to modify the dropdown list to make it easier to read. My excel-fu is not strong.

Heh, quite some time for data entry, but I've got a process that works fairly well. Having everything in PDF helps out, obviously...I built this thing because I like to house rule lots of stuff, and so having a solid base to start from helps. Since I know all the codes, I can just tweak as needed. It needs to be a bit more friendly for general use, most likely, but one of my standing goals is that folks can modify it as needed for their own personalized games.

For the Skill issue, that does sound like something in OpenOffice. I don't have that loaded on my current laptop, but it does support formulas differently than Excel at times. I seem to recall either an alternate implementation or a plug-in that corrects a lot of the Excel-->OpenOffice compatibility issues.

For Weapon Finesse, I generally go to the generic Melee line and replace the Ability Modifier entry. It reads =Str_Mod_Current and so I switch that to =Dex_Mod_Current for Weapon Finesse. This then cascades to all of the specific Weapon calculations. This is something I'll be working on when I get into feat automation, but that's my work-around for now.

For the alternate system, can you describe it? If so, I can build it in as an actual feature. I can work something in, too, that just ignores it altogether.

That, unfortunately, is a limitation of Excel. If anybody does have a way to fix this, I'd love to know! It has to do specifically with how I'm using 22 pixel squares as the basic building block for the sheet. I can merge these into large cells to create various sizes for data entry. But the Data Validation function just sees "22 pixel" for one single cell and sizes the font to match. I can use a combo box form, but those are unwieldy and will unnecessarily increase the size of the file.

This is actually something I've been thinking on a lot and it may drive me to a single data entry page with full-size cells. It would then feed the printable character sheets. I've built character generators like this in the past for the Savage Worlds and Suzerain systems and it works pretty well. Honestly the current "generator built into the character sheet" approach is a hold-over from my early work on this type of character sheet.

Great job Erian!

I have one question tho:
Where/how do i fill in Deflection and Natural armor bonuses to AC?
I can't fill the area on the AC line and i can't find any slots for those anywhere else.

As for the small fonts in the feat field, you can work around the problem by temporarily changing the view to "page layout" (or something like that, i don't have the english version), this makes the text in the roll down list big enough to read properly.

Looking forward to future updates!

AWESOME THNX LOTS.
anyway u can add the swashbuckler class from complete warrior? and the abjurant champion prestige from complete mage thanks again and let me know if u dont have these books and need the class features.

I suspect getting PF Core completed is going to take precedence over 3.5 splats.

True, changing the view (or even the zoom level) on the page will help in viewing the drop-downs.

For the AC bonuses, looks like some of the fields got Locked when I reformatted those. I've unlocked them for the next version. Note that I lock the tabs, but they are not password-protected. I do this just to keep myself from screwing something up by mistake.

These can be added--I've got fields in the Tables tab for adding Custom classes. However, they cannot be put into any published version as the classes are not Open Game Content as specified in the Open Game License for said books. The Tables tab also has space for Custom races as well.

Hi Erian, fantastic sheet, great job!

I noticed that size bonus to hit is being reported incorrectly (after you select race) and is oddly linked to Strength bonus...Looking at the code, you've just missed the column reference on your size table field by one - I've fixed mine and now it works properly.

Cheers

Ah yes, thanks. That one came in when I added the CMB columns of data. mine was off by 2, though--was stating VLOOKUP(Size,Table_Size,4,0) but should be VLOOKUP(Size,Table_Size,6,0. Did yours say VLOOKUP(Size,Table_Size,5,0)? That column is tied to Str for your character because it's a caculated CMB modifier that is based on Dex for Tiny and Smaller creatures, but Str for everyone else. May be something I half-fixed at some point. I should be doing better version control, code documentation, and testing prior to release...I do plan on doing a major shake down once I get the OGC stuff for feats and traits in place. That'll be my starting point for the next big update with classes. You folks finding these little items and point them out is definitely a great help!

Thanks for the response. I'll see if I can find a plug-in or similar to get things to convert correctly. EDIT: Seems I was a little lax on updating OpenOffice. Got the newest version and everything is calculating correctly now.

I think I understand your fix for Weapon Finesse. I'll give it a go.

I use a few different systems for ability scores. I still use the roll 4d6 & drop one system, and sometimes a weighted Xd6 drop Y system. In my newest campaign, the players are expected to be beyond heroic (saviors of their country, in fact) and are doing a unweighted point buy system (78 points total, put them where you like, 8 is min, 18 is max before racial mods). It allows for some seriously min/maxxed characters, but it fits the nature of the campaign (for reasons specific to this campaign).

Again, thanks for your hard work. Fillable character sheets are nice, but self populating sheets are full of win and awesome!

Thanks all! Given the interest in this character sheet, I've started a new thread:

erian_7's Excel-based Character Sheet

I'm hopig this will help folks track the progress and also clear this thread up for other folks' good work!

A quick note on my Weapon Finesse approach--it breaks down for characters that continue to wield non-Finesse weapons since the change is global. Didn't want that to sneak up on you...

No offense to Erian, I like what you've started, but I was wondering if anyone has put together a non-functional character sheet. That is one that does no, or minimal calculations and just lets me enter what I want where I want? I realize it is a step backwards, but until the kinks are worked out, any functional sheet is just causing me headaches.

None taken. Note that you can unlock this file and manually enter anything you want. Also, version 0.5 is fairly stable and I don't expect any changes for a while. I do have a stripped down version I'm using to play with layout that you can use--it does absolutely no calculations:

I do have one request for my beneficence...even with this version I appreciate feedback on layout, placement of elements on each sheet, space allocated, font size, etc. So, comment away!

And for veector (and anyone else looking to host the file), v.0.5 is the version I'd say to go with for now. I'll appreciate any support, as I'm sure my little Bellsouth account will get tapped out if too many folks hit this thing...

Thanks!

I started a new character sheet inspired by Salama. I still think his are THE COOLEST EVER!

so here is a glimpse of what WOULD have been my auto calculating PDF Character Sheet.

The one that became corrupted with only NINE freaking entries left to add calculations to. And is now worthless... I am SOOOOO irritated I didn't save MULTIPLE copies.

Nine left! Do you guys have any idea how many spaces had to be calculated and named for three pages? NINE left!

Sorry, Krome. I lost a great review of the Anubis Murders I was writing through a couple of fumbled key strokes. Still haven't had the heart to rewrite it.
