Canadian Subscribers - Are you receiving your subscriptions?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

For the 4th time now I have not received one of my subscriptions. A friend of mine who lives in a different area in my city (Calgary, Alberta) has not received 2 of his.

I am unsure at this time if I should bring this matter to the attention of Canada Post to investigate my postal office. My subscriptions go to a post office box in the Canada Post Office. I have bought 150+ items from eBay, and I have never had a problem receiving one of them, so I doubt it's a theft issue at the post office's end -- but before I consider reporting the matter, I would be interested to hear if this is a frequent problem for other Canadians?

My shipments always arrive at my doorstep.

Disclaimer: I live in a neighbourhood dominated by Lawful Good Experts though... :P

As someone who has done his own share of online ordering I suggest you contact Canada Post about the missing parcels. Typically, with a few exceptions they tend to be fairly good at resolving issues like this. There should be a nation-wide customer service contact line that you can find the contact details for at the Contact Page at the Canada Post Website that will help, and you may want to find out which station your mail is distributed from and contact the supervisor of that station to help track down the issue (where you go to pick up your mail if you've put a vacation hold delivery on your mail).

If the subscription packages are being mailed across the border it could be an issue with customs who seem to like losing things and hanging onto items for extended periods of time. If the parcels were shipped via the US Post then there could be a problem at that stage in the process.

USPS Express baby. USPS Express. Has not failed me yet. And cheaper than US Post to boot.

Sovereign Court

I've never had a shipment go missing.

I've lived in three different spots in the greater Toronto area and have not had a problem. Sounds like maybe your mail carrier is the problem.

Dark Archive

Happened to me only once. So I'm considering it an isolated incident.

Hasn't happened to me yet.

Thought it does take 14 to 20 days before I get the hardcopy.

Well good to hear that this sounds like an isolated incident. Maybe someone in the Paizo mailroom dislikes people from Calgary :)

Since the packages contain no tracking information, I suspect that Canada Post will not be able to help, or even be willing to look into it since there's really no way to confirm where the problem is.

Same as me - haven't lost anything yet, but generally it takes so long to get here that by the time I get it, the next subscription order is being processed ... which is anywhere from an extra week to two over what is the suggested time frame when I chose my shipping options.

Well, I am not living in Canada, but I have had my share of trouble with the US Postal Service (USPS). Normal delivery was one to two weeks after everyone else, but the final straw was when the Gods & Magic book along with one of the AP books arrived six weeks late.... wet, and bent and ripped.

The USPS essentially said, "tough nuggies". Since it was not insured they would not do anything, and I went quite some ways up the chain. Thank you Cosmo for sending me replacements!

*sigh* Now everything comes thru UPS and it is just so much better for just a little more money on my part.

ps. I am in Poughkeepsie, NY - about 80 miles north of New York City on the Hudson River, so it is not like I am in the boondocks!

Only time I remember right now is that Dragon issue that seemed to go missing for most Canadians (wonder where they ever turned up?).

I hadn't noticed the difference before. I took a look because of your comment, and USPS First Class saves about $3 total off my next three shipments. Not earthshattering but, hey, any little savings I'll take.

What's the difference between Standard Postal Service, and USPS First Class?

And Kor - which shipping option have you been using?

Sovereign Court

LOL! dunno the difference... :)

I just know it's cheaper and reliable. :)

Dark Archive

Never had a parcel go missing for me either using USPS first class to Edmonton though it does normally take a couple weeks to arrive.

Living in Calgary, I tend to find the subscription items to be pretty slow, but they do generally get to me in the end. I think I had one item go missing, but even it may have shown up eventually... My regular orders from Paizo.com never have a problem.

I had much worse issues with the magazines, mind you. But most of that time I lived in Banff, so I tend to blame that.

On paizo.com, "Standard" shipping is actually a catch-all term for a variety of services that may include First Class, Parcel Post, and services that include discounts for Bound Printed Matter.

Living in Calgary also, and have not had a missing shipment yet. Long wait, oh yes... but it does eventually come to me at least.
