Well I was new in that city. That was the first I had ever heard of that game or whitewolf. So I was done

On the upside I have read and really like the new rules set I own the core book.

The Pleasure Golem is basically a flesh golem that has a spark from the elemental plane of fire, so it's warm to the touch. Also, it's enchanted to be able to change its form/gender as needed. And rather than being enchanted to fight or guard it's made to...grapple...after a fashion. ;)

Never played oWoD other then that one time and can't recall a thing. The new books are nice love the fluff heavy core book. But I have not seen the vampire of werewolf settings or well anything other then the core.

But why can't you use the new rules with the old stories?

Well let's not forget about True Ghouls (thank you Wolfgang Baur)... they're civilized undead and if I'm not mistaken the Darklands region of Sekamina has Ghouls as an abundant "race."

My Guess is some ghouls in Golarion are just as necropolitan as the True Ghouls of Greyhawk.

--Vrocket Launcher Tag!

The term Ghoul is also used for a vampire's blood bag(living humanoid). Usually a loyal servant which the vampire can feed upon, but generally does daylight tasks the vampire cannot. The vampire also usually promises said 'blood bag' he will turn them into a vampire eventually if they prove themselves worthy. Though the spelling could be different, dunno. (examples: Antonio Banderas' young boy in "Interview with a Vampire" or Renfield in "Dracula")

EDIT: Speaking of Ghouls & Golems, question... "Fright Night" the movie, what WAS the vampire's bodyguard(Billy Cole, Actor: Jonathan Stark)?? I've also thought he was some sort of elaborate Flesh Golem, but I suppose being filled with bugs could make him a ghoul of sorts. Thoughts?

A @#$%ing ghoul.

That would be a difficult situation, cuz Ghouls(undead variety) while very intelligent(13 INT), have the "HUNGER". (unsatiable craving for living flesh)

Not my kind of date. Though apparently funny enough to make into several low-budget and relatively stupid 'romantic-comedy' movies in the past.

would need to rework half the disciplines... maybe they did it after a fashion... would need to check... one complains he want to use his old character,.. no changes...

ah this rework.. je... well there was this 13 clans... 5 are the ones left... to many bloodlines for my taste... other than that pretty cool in generl

See, you can play Vampire like that. You don't have to.

I remember that schizo Malkavian with adrenaline addiction. (Vampire addiction means you have to find prey that has what you need). One night he walked up to a guy at a bus station all alone and just told him: "You're going to die now." Then he chased him all over the city, though a junk yard, and caught him near some railroad tracks. There was a train coming, so he just held the guy onto the tracks. Just before he was run over, he pulled him away again.

Then he fed.

KaeYoss wrote:

I used to play a Brujah who was unwillingly a part of the fetish/goth scene to hide all his masquerade-breaking drawbacks.

When he had time to devote to his real interests, he ran half the drug and prostitution business in Chicago and was gradually building himself an underwater lair filled with ghouled catfish below his apartment building.

Having a Home Depot preferred customer card was really useful, and you haven't lived until you've watched a team of soon-to-be-silenced crackheads and poorly performing hookers digging a bunker.

The thing is I had very little knowledge of the rules only what one guy had told me, they gave me a pc to play and it was just odd. I didn't fit in with that play style and sure as hell didnt fit in with the group

May have been a fun game, never know as I was done after that

Why not just make a regular flesh golem? Make a closet sized storage box out of metal and ceramic. Cast heat metal on the box; wait a few rounds, call out golem. Sure, it's going to cool back off in a minute or two, but the kind of wizards who would make these things for these purposes are usually primary examples of Con as a dump stat, so its perfect. It wasn't the subject matter so much as the treatment. I got a very unwholesome vibe from the whole thing, and I really wish they'd just hired an art student to paint them some naked critters instead of getting their friends together for an afternoon of awkwardness.

Which parts did you like? I never payed much attention to the spells or feats, but I do remember the breeding charts being interesting.

The first time I played Vampire was with agoup I knew very well, or at least thought I did until the am turnedthem into a bunch of whiney emo groupies. Outsideof the game they were still the same friends I had known for years, but once we started playing, I began wishing that I really as a vampire so I could drain them all and stop having to listen to them b~**% and moan all the time. I mean, when you are a hit man, being undead is the greatest thing in the world, not something to whine about. And anyone who plays VtM is etting themselves up to join a cult. ;-)

I can say that if you read Mongooses' Encyclopaedia Arcane: Nymphology, Blue Magic first, the Book of Erotic Fantasy comes off as Shakespearian. ;-P

But I am pretty certain that Blue Magic set out to be low-brow humor.

That being said, if you ignore the "artwork" (which was horrible - if not for the content, then for the execution) it really is a decent product on the subject.

It is safe to say there hasn't been a better product yet. :-P

I'm not suggesting every one read it, or even that anyone needs it. But 90% of the time the material is handled well, and presented thoughtfully and maturely. So if you are looking for that kind of thing, BoEF is really a good read. Just get a text only copy if you can.

Yeah david I like the new rules, I blame fatespinner for getting me interested but that group was so bad I wanted to wash my mind clean from the whole trauma. So I only started even paying attention to white wolf over they last 4 months

Going back to the OP, Atendri isn't really that good looking. I mean I would rather get it on with Denrelwe or even Haiten before Atendri, and Haiten is made of stone. Even Nocticula holds more appeal, and she scares me. To each their own I guess.

Just wanted to get a little timeline correction on the stuff about Bram Stoker making vampires sexy then penny dreadfuls copying him. The order there is backwards. Bram Stoker's Dracula came out in 1897 (1896?) and was influenced by penny dreadfuls like Varney the Vampyre (taken in its entirety, one of the longest texts in the English language) and pre-existing works like Sheridan Le Fanu's Carmilla and John Polidori's The Vampyre.

Talking about the plots of Carmilla, John Polidori's The Vampyre, and Dracula below.

Spoiler:
I read Carmilla and the "hot lesbian action" there was very implied/subtle. In other words, you have to work to see it and use a bit of imagination. (Less imagination for a modern reader, no doubt.) To expand on that, if you read it without looking for anything sapphic, you're not going to see anything sapphic. At most the narrator explores some "strange feelings" she has and it seems the vampire may be preying on her at night and influencing her dreams. By the same token, John Polidori's The Vampyre has some overtones that make you wonder. The narrator certainly spends a lot of time with the vampire for them to just be "friends," but then the male vampire is kind of keeping him as a thrall and has a thing for his sister or neice or something (forget what the familial relationship was), so maybe their relationship is strictly "professional." The vampire in that one does seem to only attack women. Carmilla and The Vampyre are both available as free texts online (they are far out of copryright), and neither is very long so definitely worth a look.

As for Renfield being a ghoul, I think the suggested use of the term ghoul comes straight out of Vampire: The Masquerade, though it may have its origins in the vampire movies of the 1970s. Renfield would be a ghoul if he could in the more traditional sense of a cannibal. He is eating a lot of bugs and animals and stuff and no doubt would go for some human flesh if he could, but the use of ghouls as thralls to vampires seems a much more modern convention. Saying he's a thrall is even pushing it though. The only real thrall in the book by my interpretation would be Mina after she's bitten. She has a mental connection with the vampire. Renfield has just been driven mad by him. Harker would probably be mad too, if it weren't for his mental fortitude.

*would be interested in more vampire-related modules from Paizo*

I went a little crazy with the italics but I was a little annoyed at the lack of an underline tag.

Not just a hot lesbian vampire: a hot lesbian martial artist vampire. I kid you not, this Gothic horror story written in 1872 has a scene where the title character disarms a vampire hunter using kung-fu. Sheridan Le Fanu is the 19th Century Joss Whedon.

WoD made a great world adn great story.

Which leads me to believe that there is some sort of connection between undeath and kicking @$$ in martial arts. Something to do with the creature type that they can fight like Power Rangers?

BoVD has the Lich Loved (feat? template? PrC I don't really recall), which grants the character abilities after amorous contact with the undead.

Oh, and don't forget Zombie Nurse in Love. Great, low budget flick! Sexy nurse zombie FTW!

I liked the pregnancy charts, although I would have liked to have seen more attention paid to standard races, the disease section was pretty cool to scare players with. I have used the Sacred Prostitute as an NPC class in my Realms game, and the different means of birth control have been used as well. And I have had more than one player shop for... mundane items found in the book. If your game happens to include a Sharressan Prostitute as the groups cleric, stuff like tends to come up. ;p

I will risk posting in this thread and try a minor thread jack.

Why do ghouls have to look dead or even be dead? Isn't that a D&D thing? I thought ghouls were people that ate other people. I think it started with a living person eating dead people and then the person died from all the necrotic energy and became an undead ghoul. Then they started killing living people for food. But does the ghoul body have to decay like a zombie? I thought that vampires drank the blood and ghouls eat the flesh to maintain themselves? So she can have a young body but she gets to eat you on your dinner date.

Or maybe this topic is covered in Dungeon Critters Revisited.

I think that's a viable definition for a ghoul or being ghoulish. However the monster I think of people becoming when they eat other people in folklore is a WENDIGO. Usually resorting to cannibalism due to extreme circumstances, such as the DONNER PARTY, only food available is your buddy or your dead buddy.

Would make a great encounter IMO. Something similar to the movie RAVENOUS.
