Restart an argument that has been hashed and rehashed until 'Dead Horse' shows up and gives his death rattle.

Suggest a change to the rules that would kill a cherished and traditional part of the game until 'Sacred Cow' moos.

Levels should be scrapped and replaced with achievements. After you unlock enough achievements you gain a new class feature.

You mean the one that rips off Star Wars?

I can see that counting.

I demand that Vancian magic be abolished and be replaced by a mana system. The mana cap will of course be limited to 999. Also, the maximum level will be raised from 20 up to 99. All heroes will be required to have one (or more) of the following:
- Angst ridden backstory
- An idiotic hairstyle
- A weapon that weighs more than they do
- Serious mommy/daddy issues
- A useless companion who has only one goal: be captured by the enemy

All spells will follow a formulaic progression (ex. magic missile I, magic missile II, et cetera). Status effect inducing spells will suck and direct damage spells will be the only viable method of combat via magic.

Aaaaaaaand...

I'm spent.

Hence the "Edition Wars" aspect.

As long as it has a great story, really infectious music score, and some really great summoning animation, I'm all for it.

Sovereign Court

scrap alignments as they stand and replace with a karma system. The karma level would indicate the success level of a reincarnate cast upon a deceased character, causing them to come back as anything from a maggot (really bad karma) or the ultimate archetype of their chosen species. Additionally, karma would affect other actions/reactions within the game system, making it more tired in with character actions than a simple "alignment" ever could.

3E leads to the rise of Skynet and the Terminators. Mike Mearls is actually Sarah Connor's third cousin's hairdresser's babydaddy. I read it online so it must be true.

I do like the music from pretty much all of the Final Fantasy games. And (though I believe it's a sin amongst certain crowds) I actually made pretty good use out of status-inducing effects in 7 and 9.

My English/Lit major wife is vastly more able to comment about the parallels between the two, however THe Heros journey has been done for generations. I could draw some of the same parallels with Star Trek and The Iliad.

I've been getting a LOT of use out of poison in 7. It's my first time playing through the game and I'm only about 10 hours in, but it's made a lot of boss battles easier.

Spoiler:
I envy you...I remember going through FF7 for the first time. I was up for DAYS playing that game. You'll find that Poison works quite well, and don't forget to invest in learning enemy spells when you get there!! Have fun and GOOD LUCK!

If I remember my Paizo history correctly, Frank Trollman did get banned for a while, and never came back. And Samuel Weiss left of his/her own accord. (Which I find mildly sad because s/he seemed quite reasonable in the threads I witnessed him/her in. But from what I understand s/he had "unpopular" opinions in political threads...)

Yeah, well 1e put into motion financial forces that have only now begun to raise their ugly heads, causing massive financial upheaval throughout numerous sectors of the economy, resulting initially in a massive drop in stock markets worldwide, increased unemployment and the creation of an as yet unnamed new snack food of dubious origin, but which will quickly morph into a worldwide pandemic of rabid penguins and chihuahua zombies!

EDIT: And Basic D&D was responsible for Barney and the Teletubbies!!

Yeah ol' Sammy had a sharp tongue, but he did know his info. Had a real distaste for Muslims though. I think that's what finally pushed him to leave, getting some of his more vitriolic posts suppressed.

I believe Frank has started his own cult of math-gnomes somewhere in the intrawebz.

(a)Can a paladin kill a baby if that baby is destinied to harbor the spirit of a great evil that will destroy the world? (b)Town has a magical disease that can't be cured and turns everyone evil. The only way to stop it is to burn the village to the ground before the people turn. Does the paladin pour the gasoline?

Batman, LG paladin or CG rogue/wizard?

Superman, pansy in panties or ... well ... actually never mind there is no other choice.

River Tam, most kickass chick you've every seen or most annoying mary sue you've ever seen?

Stupid Hulk, smart hulk, green hulk, grey hulk, but does anyone really want to see Ang Lee Hulk?

Gandalf, wizard, paladin, or outsider?

Dwarves, scottish or german?

Coolest Mad Max bad guy, Aunty Entity or Lord Humungus?

That depends on how destiny is handled in the campaign. Is it immutable, so that nothing can prevent the "fated events" from happening? In which case, the paladin will fail at any attempt to kill the baby, anyway (or the baby's death is what allows the great evil to take over the child's body in the first place); the world is screwed no matter what the paladin does. If destiny is not immutable, then the paladin should attempt to find a method that saves both the child and the world.

A little more detail, please. How quickly does the disease act? Is it impervious even to the actions of celestial beings or deities (i.e., a high-level cleric using summon planar ally and/or gate)? Is it contagious?

Throw out character classes. Every character has a set number of "power points" that can be used to "buy" any character abilities of any type during character creation.
