Sword and Sorcery SAGA

3.5/d20/OGL

So has anyone else here had a look at Sword & Sorcery SAGA? It's meant to be a low fantasy game based on the SW SAGA rules; almost a pseduo-4E, for when all that was known was the SAGA ruleset. Development seems to have died down, although the ENWorld thread mentions a v2, intended for maybe 6 months ago ... no idea if it will ever show up.

Despite my movement to 4E for my DnD purposes, this project seems to satisfy an itch that I wasn't wholly aware I had. What do you guys think?

I didn't until you brought up this thread, but I'll tell you what. I just finished running a 10-session Star Wars Saga Edition game. My first since the thing came out 2 years ago. It ran so smooth and easy, and the Force Powers were easily seen as "spells" that it hit me: had WotC actually used this as the model for 4e instead of tossing so much out the window, and let D&D spells be classified and cast as the Force Powers are, I would have taken a much more serious look at 4e.

In my opinion if the author keeps on it it could work really well.

Funny, I saw just today a comment from someone re: how 4E's power sets could be thought of as highly constrained talent trees. It's not the way 4E went, but the idea of the powers you pick originally helping build towards the powers at higher levels is interesting.

When SW SAGA came out, before 4E was announced, I was very interested in seeing a fantasy version converted from it. I'm glad to have found one (not that I expect to get to play ...) and I'm glad to hear it seems as feasible as I thought it would be.
