Sorry to hear that. Sick kids are not really conducive for sleep. Of course, these days, I've traded early mornings for late nights when my kids go do something with their friends.
Actually, now that we have a puppy, we get the early mornings too. :S

Late nights. Early Mornings. It's all just a blur to me. I get too much of both and usually they tend to follow one another. I think a sleep specialist would have a field day with my sleep patterns from the last 6 months or so! :/

So I've noticed. Is yours caused by stress or is it just happening?
I went through a period where I couldn't get by on less than 10 hours of sleep. I like to require less sleep than more.

Duh. See--5 hours of sleep isn't enough for me.

I used to only get by on 5 hours a night for a long time, then sleep late on Saturdays. Then it changed when I changed jobs. Then I'd usually get 5-8 hours a night and then around 9 hours one night a week.
My last job (my own business) was different in that I could make my own hours and because it was beginning to go poorly I got more free time than I should have and got used to it. Now I have another job I'm not adjusting to the new early mornings because I'm so used to (and want to) being able to chat when ever I wanted.flash_cxxi RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32 |

Nor is it generally enough for me. :)
Saturdays are once again my sleep in days, but I just use that to stay up even later than normal on Fridays now, consequently I still only get 5-6 hours when I should be using it to get 8-10.And no, certain people need to move to Australia... ;)

What do you do with your business? I guess the change in the economy hurt your business?
What are you doing now? I have noticed that you drop out during work hours. I have a feeling my posting during work hours will drop off some. In the new position, people are a little more "Big Brother" about how one spends their time. We'll see if I will be able to tolerate that attitude.

I went from running my own moblie computer repair/IT business to my current position of managing my parent's Subway store... :/
At least until I can find something better, hopefully back in the IT field.Yeah the economy did hurt my business. The other thing that hurt it was the fact that I didn't really have enough Business Clients, which unfortunately is where all of the steady money comes from. Home clients are generally easier money jobs but they are less frequent and as a response to the drop off in work I needed to expand my area and hence I was sometimes spending more time on the road during the day than I was fixing machines... :/

My wife is having trouble breaking into the IT/computer tech field. She gets 2- to 4- week contract jobs every other month, so it's not exactly steady income. She used to teach preschool, which was nice because she'd be home when the kids got home from school. She wants to do something more, and our plan is for her to get a job with benefits and I can freelance and perhaps spend more time writing.
By the way, if Moorluck and Solnes *do* move closer to you, you won't be able to escape Solnes' wrath easily.

In Newcastle it's pretty much non-existant (we're Australia's 6th or 7th largest City, but we're still a Country town at heart), but in Sydney and Melbourne it's pretty good.

Yeah it was funny... I was talking to Solnes about it one day while I was finding their place on Google Earth and showing her mine. And just for laughs I typed in directions from my place to theirs... it sent me on one hell of a trip around the world and when I hit an ocean the instruction simply said "get in a Kayak and row x kilometres in this direction until you hit land". :/
The other funny one was when I hit Japan and all of the direction then turned into Japanese... and I mean actual Japanese Symbols/Letters, not just a translation!taig RPG Superstar 2012 |

She's got Rheumatoid Arthritis, and she takes medication to suppress her immune system. Increasingly, parents brought in their sick kids, and she got sick a lot the last two years she taught. And, at least here, teaching preschool doesn't provide health benefits. She would have to go back to school to be able to teach at a higher level, but she's found that she doesn't want to invest that time for something she really doesn't want to do.
She is making a name for herself with people she works with and for, so she does have a couple of folks that specifically ask for her. It's just not enough in this area to get steady work.

That would be hard.
Luckily I have a few of my old clients who I have been doing jobs for since I left my old business (it was a Franchise and technically the clients stayed with them) who specifaically wanted to keep me doing their maintenace because they liked me. But as you say, it's still not enough to get steady work from.

I would like to take this slow morning time to express my apologize to my wife, and the Paizo community in general for the crudness I was a part in last night. Although funny, it was wrong of me to refer to the woman I love in such a way. I would like everyone to know that I love Solnes more than life itself, and she is a wonderful mother, and an amazing wife. I guess I just got carried away in the whole thing. So in short...
