I didn't realize that there were birds called boobs...uhm, as for breast cancer...well did you know that women with larger breasts are at higher risk for breast cancer? It is always a good idea to check regularly, if you are too embarassed to have a doc do it there is information available on how to check for yourself, or have your spouse do it for you.

And then there is the breast feeding...well, for those women whose milk is comming in slowly you can always recruit your spouse to help. My doctor suggested that Moorluck help keep up the milk production....if you aren't too squimmish you can make this much fun! ;)

I'm hungry....what to eat? I could get some yogurt....a small salad...or I could pack teh kids up and hit McD's or something....I think to start I will just grab a Yogurt....maybe go out for lunch..I'll need smokes anyways...this way I only have to go out once...

Get the yoghurt, and the salad. Skip the smokes, and just tell everyone you know that you are quitting, then never touch a cigarette again. I quit a thirty a day habit cold turkey in 2004, on valentines day. I get an xray of my lungs each year, and I have seen them clear up. Food tastes better. I don't need to punctuate my day with something that kills people. I don't throw money at evil corporations that make cigarettes more addictive. I don't stress out about cigarettes at all.

Just do it.

I started in 1991. I smoked at least thirty a day. I rolled my own out of newspaper and cigarette butts. I shoplifted smokes when I was unemployed. I would walk the waterfront in Durban begging smokes. I would get the stumps out of ashtrays, and burn them to the filter.

I quit. So can you.

Do you want your children to say after your funeral, that they wish you had never carried on smoking, and how they remember how much fun you were before your tracheotomy?

Well i am also worried about weight gain...I am tryng to lose weight...hence the salad and yogurt... I have seen that quitting smoking makes you gain some serious weight, and I already am about 15 lbs overweight!


Exercise. Take walks. Drop the cigarettes.

Make a clean break. Yes you will get irrational rages. People may ask you to smoke again because you are getting on their t#*~. It will be hellish for two weeks.

Then you will start to see benefits.

Food will taste better.

You will be happy with yourself.

People will be proud of you.

Your children will be proud of you.

Everyone on the boards will be proud of you if you tell them.

Ok I have never been that desperate for a smoke...never stolen...or pulled them outta ashtrays....I will bum one off of my friend if I am out....

My poor kids though...I have tried to quit before, and I snapped at them constantly....Tell you what...let me get through this week...I have algebra and geology finals...not a good time to start this type of project...and I will give it a real shot...But Moorluck isn't going to quit and that makes it a bit harder...maybe he'll just take it outside...hmmm

Go and visit the oncology ward. Seriously. Like visiting a slaughter house makes you cut down on meat. Meet some of the folk who thought that quitting was too hard, and the glamour will fall off of those stinking burning leaves.

Think of the poverty of tobacco farmworkers in the third world too.

Think of the tobacco lobby keeping marijuana illegal, and locking up all those poor kids for toking on a joint.

15 lbs is alot for a woman who is 5'2, has a Mt Dew addiction and no time to hit the gym! 3 kids in 6 years did a number on my hips...:|

1) There are 1.1 billion smokers in the world today, and if current trends continue, that number is expected to increase to 1.6 billion by the year 2025.

2) China is home to 300 million smokers who consume approximately 1.7 trillion cigarettes a year, or 3 million cigarettes a minute.

3) Worldwide, approximately 10 million cigarettes are purchased a minute, 15 billion are sold each day, and upwards of 5 trillion are produced and used on an annual basis.

4) Five trillion cigarette filters weigh approximately 2 billion pounds.

5) It's estimated that trillions of filters, filled with toxic chemicals from tobacco smoke, make their way into our environment as discarded waste yearly.

6) While they may look like white cotton, cigarette filters are made of very thin fibers of a plastic called cellulose acetate. A cigarette filter can take between 18 months and 10 years to decompose.

7) A typical manufactured cigarette contains approximately 8 or 9 milligrams of nicotine, while the nicotine content of a cigar is 100 to 200 milligrams, with some as high as 400 milligrams.

Question, do you and Moorluck smoke around the kids?

Do you smoke indoors where the second-hand smoke will linger?

Actually, after your exams, you and Moorluck should both consider cutting your subsidies to the government (look at how much taxes are layered on cigarrettes).
