Well, we've got enough for health workers -- not enough for everyone by a long shot. And you have to start it within 48 hrs of infection; even if we had enough, could we distribute it that fast? And how many people would take their doses "as a precaution" when they weren't sick, thus speeding the virus' path to immunity? I'm just hoping we get the "mild" version that the U.S. cases have been so far, and not the "kills 7% and thus is 3x deadlier than Spanish flu" version in Mexico...
This coming right after Ike, it's going to take a lot to convince me to stay in Houston, once the economy recovers... ;)

If I can offer some comfort : this kind of H1N1 flu kills due to the over response of a healthy immune system. Your daughter is safer than most.
My son is in for surgery on Friday - we always worry about stuff even if we know the risks are minimal.

According to CNN, there has only been one serious case in the U.S. and that patient is fine. However, a bunch of Aussie and Kiwi tourists may have been exposed during a trip to Mexico. Zombies down under anyone?

IT will Go Pandemic in South America, Mexico city, and Rio where millions of people live in the worst possible conditions will turn into Necropoli.
THE USA (if it survives the ten million Mexican running its borders to escape the plague - and stop the Migration across to Africa of the Population) will inherit a Dead South America. I tell you now that within a year the US-MEXICO Border Patrols will feel the loss of Personel due to Plague exposure.

Probably. The local BBQ joint does this awesome dish that's a layer of fries, barbecued shredded beef slathered in sauce with a layer of cheddar on top.
I've had cheese fries before, but not with gravy. Gravy + cheese + bacon = culinary perfection. We have discovered ambrosia, theobroma, soma, call it what you will. The way to apotheosis is now open!
The BBQ thing sounds good, Lilith, but it's missing two of the greatest food stuffs that Prometheus brought down to us with fire. Now the only question is, what beer would you be fit to wash this stuff down? Something hoppy? A really good IPA?

As for beer, nothin' wrong with a good lager or pilsner. Not hoppy though - I don't think the bitterness would go well with the 'Q.
I saw a place on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives that does chili cheese fries using a chili verde made with smoked pork butt and monterey jack cheese. I'm going to try making that at home.
