Le't see what I can do to help LJ, hm? Or more to be more accurate, let's see what Sky can do.

As he rests at the Eyrie, Sky falls asleep from exhaustion. Unknown to him, his link(the feather she holds) to Lynora-Jill brings him into the Realms of Dream. As he looks around this new world, a blazing line of power pulses through his line of vision. As he raises a hand to guard his eyes, he notices a much smaller line connects him to it. Warily, he begins to follow the pulsing light.

Don't know how long it'll take for him to get to her, but in a dream, does time matter?

Dang post-monster ate my post...

Something that the vampire girl is doing catches the Night Dragon's attention, and she switches the view abruptly back to the Oasis; when events underway in the vicinity of those at rest there do not serve, she burns out a precious undetectable link one of her servants had established to the location to find what she wants.

Well really.... she tsks, but a slow, sly, smile crosses her lips nonetheless.
She dismisses the image of the Oasis from the globe, taps it once with the wand, and calls up an image of Smagnavast.
She spends some time briefing the dragon, and then returns her attention to affairs in the Realms of Dream.

Why do I get the feeling Oroth and Aidan were overheard?

Ssss. Another dreamer for the the markets of N'Granek..

Suddenly two leonine forms appear at Lynora-Jill's side. The ugly Zoogs pause and squeal, hiding their wrinkled faces.

Cats! We hates cats!

The two shining lions growl in unison

In the name of the Council of Ulthar thou must depart or face the Army of Felines! Leave this grove and thy prize behind!

The Zoogs gibber and squeal, flying off into the trees

The small silver cage is left behind, the small shining spark glowing with a bright yellow flame

Time is entirely subjective in the Realms of Dream

In a dream, everything is subjective...

Hmmph. Time can matter in many parts of my Realm; just not so often in some of the erratic parts which are where wandering souls end up being drawn, such as the one Patrick's running at present.

Oops...sorry to tread on your toes Nirellia! DON'T KILL ME! <whimper>

You appear to be posting about one of those weird random disorganised parts at present, where things get a bit bendy... I mean ZOOGS - do I seriously seem the sort of ruler who would tolerate zoogs if my attention weren't elsewhere? If it weren't for the fact that being a deity is so demeaning, having to run around handing out favours to lots of little mortal slaves, I'd have ascended aeons ago, and NO MORE ZOOGS would have been somewhere close to the top of my omniscient list of things to do.

I just have to settle for more power than most deities even get a sniff at, limited knowledge, and areas of bendy time with zoogs in. I may not like it, but if it's the price of being independent....
Oh, and by the way, the Keeper of the Glass Lake is looking forward to meeting Lynora Jill on her way out of the current pocket of bendy time. The Keeper comes and goes from my list of people I need to keep an eye on, which is quite impressive for someone who technically isn't a long-term resident, but just a dreamer; but she works for the Lord of Trufelhunthar, so she's bound to have picked up a thing or two in the long years since the Wight Lords of Sigil were cast down, and their Queen imprisoned.

"Laeana....And Leo, I presume? I thank you for your help," she says with grateful surprise, impressed to see their true forms. She hurries to the cage, and opens the door of it to release the spark.

Is the spark actually Alaina?

Patrick's handling this part, so that's upto him...

*Sky continues to follow the thread. Going around strange creatures and fighting those he can't avoid.*

With the power of Dream, LJ should hear a twig crack behind her or something soon, as long as she overreacts.

Is the spark actually Alaina?

The two leonine cretures incline their bodies in graceful bows

You are most welcome Starsong. We shall guard you while you return to the Lands of Waking.

The silver bird cage holds the warm yellow spark. When LJ approaches she gets the feeling that Alaina is close, even if she cannot see her.

LJ draws the spark out of the cage, humming the Song of Finding with Alaina's Song interspersed with it, listening to hear if the song of the spark matches.

The spark sings back ...It is Alaina, in a transformed form. She cannot escape the silver cage while it is locked.

Okay, this is like the third post where I've been trying to open this same cage. How strong is this lock? Is there any way for me to open it, or do I need to take the cage itself back to SunnyG?

Oh I am sorry, I didn't realize you had said you were opening it ..mea culpa ..

The cage opens easily enough and the spark flies out. The spark enlarges and becomes a translucent Alaina

Lyn? Hi! What are you doing in my dream?

Alaina, the Fire Flower wrote:

"You aren't dreaming, Alaina," LJ said gently. "You were fighting a creature that hit you with a particularly nasty magical attack that drove your soul from your body. I've come here after you to bring you back. Sunny Godhead came with me, to bring you back to your body, but we got separated. I can lead you back to him though."

Nirellia frowns as one of the petrified treants comes striding in with a message for her on a scroll crafted from a single huge may-oak* leaf, distracting her from her scrying of a battle between the forces of a fallen archon and an exiled pit-fiend.
She reads the message and pauses a moment before crumpling the leaf up and letting the sparkling silver dust of its destruction trickle to the floor between the fingers of her left hand, whilst she smartly raps the crystal with the long wand in her right. The view switches back to the world beyond the Realms of Dreams....

* I imagine a leaf of this fantastic tree to look like a very big cross between a leaf of a regular oak tree and a leaf of a sycamore.

Alaina smiles dreamily

Ok Lyn, lead on!

She puts out a translucent hand

LJ reaches out to take Alaina'a hand, humming Alaina's Song to try and bolster her friend's strength. She adds the notes of the Song of Finding, changing the destination to show her the way to Sunny G, following the new thread that appears to show her the way back to him. She nods to Laeana and Leo as she begins to walk forward to indicate that they should follow. She isn't sure she can keep up so many Songs and talk at the same time.

lynora-Jill wrote:

Since she came to the Realms of Dream as a lost soul, Alaina will be fuzzy, mentally and physically until rejoined with her physical form

Alaina follows Lynora-Jill's lead placidly, smiling like a happy child

LJ follows the golden trail back towards Sunny G. This link at least was strong and easy to follow. And she felt better having Laeana and Leo by her side. At least she didn't have to face the threats of this place on her own.

*Not long after starting back, LJ feels some of the strain of so many songs lessen. As she continues on, she sees a very confused Sky walking toward her, apparently following the same link she is, just going the other way.*

"lynora! what are you doing here, and what is this place? The last thing I remember is falling asleep in my nest then being here. If it hadn't been for this little thread connecting me to this bigger one I might have gotten lost."

*He holds a small thread of light up and it does indeed connect him to the bigger one.*
When he gave her the fearther and said he'd help her, he didn't know it would do this much.

*Walks into the thread, looking for somthing to blast into a million meatbag particles*

"Sky! Oh, I didn't realize...This is the dreamlands. I came here after Alaina. When I let you take some of the burden to let me use my own divine power so I could get here it must have created a connection...." She sighed. "Really? Huh, if that turns out to be your holy symbol I'd really have to explain to the fledgelings why dad's an avatar of the skies... when they hatch of course.

She laughs. "No, the swirling galaxy symbol that they used to build the Eyrie is my holy symbol. And don't even get me started on how less than comfortable I am with that. But you do seem to have forged a connection to me. Interested in being the herald of a goddess who hasn't even figured out how to grant spells to herself yet?" she adds jokingly.

"Well then, I guess that makes you my herald." She says laughingly and then stops and gasps with surprise as the cord connecting them grows brighter and stronger. "Oh dear. I guess I shouldn't joke about these things. I hope you really meant that you don't mind because I don't think I can undo that. Which isn't to say that I don't want you for a herald, just that I'm not really used to the whole goddess thing yet and I wasn't expecting to be dealing with this sort of thing. I mean technically I'm still mortal until I learn to master my abilities. Well, sort of mortal. It's complicated."

Demigod then. Don't worry I was serious. Who better to be a herald of the winds than one named Icarus?

Nirellia suddenly pauses in her viewing of events in the place of winds, and tilts her head to one side, a quizzical expression on her face.
Then the Night Dragon gestures impatiently with the wand and switches the view, back to the Realm of Dreams.

Nirellia studies a scene for a moment, then dismisses the image, tosses the wand to one of the petrified treants, the cloak to another, and begins to stride from the hall, issuing orders in a mixture of elven, draconic, and sylvan as she does.
Servants scuttle and move through the palace, as she goes....

Sky Cloudgather wrote:

Your name is Icarus? I thought it was Sky. I guess there's a lot of things I don't know about you yet. Like the fact that you have a nestful of eggs. Did something bad happen to your mate? I'm sorry to pry. I don't mean to be hurtful, but I feel like I should know more about you since you're my herald now.

Clouds of darkness flecked with points of light stream forth from the palace in the wildwood, pouring away in separate directions, as gongs brazenly sound and woodland drums pound. Any solitary traveller foolish enough to be near this place would have the chance to observe that they are bat-riding fey, passing out in score upon score of companies, each a dozen strong, in the the moment before half a dozen moonlight lances or a shower of star silver crossbow bolts took his life. For a moment, Nirellia can be seen upon the roof of the palace, amidst swirling clouds of the outriders of her honour guard, and then she is gone.

From through the trees, nearby, Lynora-Jill, Alaina and Sky Cloudgather hear the clamour of several zoogs encountering something, but being abruptly silenced.
Vermin.

LJ looks around warily at the noise, keeping a tight grip on Alaina's hand.
"What was that?"

An uneasy, brooding, silence seems to be settling over the woods, broken by the cut-short screech of yet another zoog, from slightly closer by.

LJ keeps herself between Alaina and whatever is causing the disturbance, continuing to follow the path towards Sunny G slowly and warily now. Laeana and Leo flank her, ready to defend her as necessary.

(edited)
Well, well, well.... and what do we have here?
She speaks in Sylvan, and Lynora-Jill recognises the elven woman from the Sanctum of the Sun, only here and now she is booted and garbed in the forest greys of a huntswoman, with a great bow of dragon horn slung at her back, and with a crown of glowing white frost about her brows.
She has emerged from the forest, without so much as a sound, although now that she is on the path, Lynora can catch faint squeaks and high-pitched cries, as of hunting bats, echoing through the woods.

"Hello. I know we've met before, but I must apologize since I cannot recall your name at the moment. You were at the Sanctum of the Sun. You introduced yourself to Alaina and myself. I'm so sorry. It's been a difficult day, and I have so many things I'm trying to concentrate on right now."

These are the Realms of Dream. Nirellia's gesture takes in the woods and everything beyond. I am at home here. I am curious as to what errand has brought you to my 'neck of the woods', away from the Sanctum and grove which I understood it to be your wont to more usually frequent? Whilst it may perhaps be true that you are unlikely to currently encounter anything more dangerous in this immediate place than you may already have done so, you have hardly picked a safe part for a novice to the Realms of Dream - by the look of you - to come visiting. And your companion, she glances sharply at Alaina looks a little 'Shantak touched' as they say in these parts, or in plainer language as if she is not quite in her right senses.

LJ hesitates, unsure how much she should share with this woman. But then withholding the truth might also deny them an ally.
"Alaina's soul was driven from her body by a magical attack. I came to this realm in order to find her so that Sunny G could bring her back to her body. Finding things is more my area than his. He came with me, but we got seperated when I got caught in a maze. So now I'm leading her back to him. And I, uh -" she blushes "I accidentally drew Sky here as well, though he at least is here in the normal way. I do not mean to be rude, but I do need to hurry. I have limited time here."

If you are the Lynora-Jill I encountered in the Sanctum of the Sun, it is exceedingly careless of you to forget a freely given name. Here in this place sometimes a personal name might be your only weapon, defence, or hope to summon aid. As it is you are quite fortunate that I was passing with a hunting party. A zoog denied by fear of one or two cats can grow quite fractious, and depart to gather the numbers and strength to return to seek revenge.

"I do thank you for your assistance. Sky, do you think you can hold all three Songs for just a moment? I promise I'll take them right back. Now, what was it that you told me your name was? Nicole? Nilla? Nirellia! Okay, Sky, it's okay, I'll take them back now. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that to you even for a second. I think you should go back to your nest now. I've been putting too many demands on you."
She is starting to look quite pale and tired.
"Please, I need to hurry back. I must get Alaina to Sunny G and return to my body as quickly as I can."

Hmm. You appear to have been tittle-tattling with other Casino guests, if you use my more formal styling. I am fairly certain the name I gave you was 'Elly'.
And on the subject of the casino, your patron appears to have a problem. Several, in fact, but the most obvious being an army of undead that has recently streamed out of the swamps about where the Palace of Skulls used to stand.
Then there was the matter of the unluck fetish. To be frank, that is why I have moved out, and returned home for now. I am ill at ease in an area where it is another's responsibility to attack or defend, where it is under siege by subtle magic.
But, you say you must go, so you must go...
She steps aside.

Off to bed here. Expect a delay if you are looking for a response.

Woops. Player misremembered. Well, then I must find a suitable explanation...

She looks confused. "That isn't the name you told me? I'm sorry. I told you that I'm distracted. I keep using powers I don't mean to. I wanted so badly to remember. I must have gotten the winds to tell me. Please forgive me. I swear I am not being deliberately rude. And I thank you so very much for the warnings. I am very grateful. I won't forget. I hope that I see you again Elly. Thank you."
With that she hurries on her way, pulling Alaina behind her, even more determined to get back quickly now that she knows that the undead army is on the move and there is something wrong with the Sanctum.
