As they reach the Bazaar, Arielle starts jumping up and down. "This way!" she says, pointing down a particular street. "There are still a few left this way."

The traders from Leng have done brisk business, and have emptied their stall of stars. They still have a few other trinkets to sell.
Going offline here for several hours - other computer user needs access, and CSI Las Vegas coming up here in the UK. At any rate now that they have no stars left it will likely take Arielle and company a while to trace the source back to the traders from Leng.

"Good thing we love to shop," he says as he gives Allura a wink.

Assume JH will follow along, keeping a sharp eye out for threats. He seems to be concentrating on 'how' he should feel in response to things, so his laughter might be a bit slow. Threats he has no trouble reacting to.

As I'll miss the activities when they resume tonight, I guess Devlyn will 'fade into the background' to be an extra set of eyes, ears and nose. :) That way JH can focus his attention on Arielle.

Until the RL game tonite. ;)

Ooo - I forgot about that. There might still be stuff going on in the morning then. Yay! :D

Time for the home commute. I'll check back in about an hour :)

A gnome with large glasses approaches the group and bows.

"Lord, is it safe to re-open my shop? The deep dwarves are still drinking to their fallen. But they drink to victory. The rest of us are getting back to work."

"Ahh, who is this pretty little angel? I have something special for pretty ladies today. Free to friends."

He holds out a small necklace of silver with a single small star upon it.

This is one of the 'shinies'?

Sure. You have 5 unaccounted, and who better than a gemologist to have one? Especially one that can sing stone into filaments?

Arielle smiles broadly and clutches the star close. "Thank you so much." She sings along with the star for a moment before putting it into her bag.
"There are eleven stars left to find outside of the Dreamlands, Daddy," she says seriously, looking up at JH.

"Any close?"

"Uh-huh. There's one in there," she says, pointing to a large building that looks like an inn of some sort.

"Daddy?"

"In that case young Princess you come by my shop some day soon and I will have another gift for you. Something almost as pretty as you."

He bows once again, to both Arielle and JH, and departs.

"Then that's where we're heading." They head off.

And we're dragging, we're dragging... ;P

JH, Arielle, and the others arrive at the inn, and enter. JH looks around, trying to spot a 'shiny'.

back in about a half hour, for a short bit before tonite's game...

Arielle walks up to a person wearing a hooded robe, most likely a mage of some sort, seated in a shadowy corner of the inn.
"Hello," she says cheerily. "I think you have something that belongs to me."

"Oh dear," Devlyn says as he walks up next to her.

JH hangs back, waiting to see the mage's reaction and not wanting to add more stress to it. He chuckles after a moment. Arielle is already a Jill, despite her name.

"I do not deal in trinkets, child," the mage says dismissively. "Now go away before I turn you into a frog. I have better things to do with my time than be pestered by stray children."

Arielle's eyes narrow. "You are not going to turn me into a frog. I would like the shiny you have in your pocket, please." She holds out her hand insistently. Devlyn can smell a faint hint of ozone coming from her.

Somebody's about to become bacon... :P

"Sorry to bother you, but the little lady has a nose for pretty gems, and she would really like to have the one in your pocket. I'd be happy to compensate you fairly for it, of course."

JH approaches the table.

"I must apologize for my daughter's abrupt nature, but a number of family heirlooms have been lost recently. We are offering a reward for their return. They appear as small magical stars."

The mage snorted. "I am not in the habit of indulging spoiled children, and the gem in my pocket is not for sale. It is not the sort of thing that mere money can properly compensate for. I seriously doubt you have anything to offer that would be of interest to me."

JH leans in

closer. Your life? You've called my daughter a stray, threatened to change her into a toad, and now called her spoiled. I'm offering generous compensation, or name something you desire more. But you might want to be polite about it. Children are present.

JH leans back. The mage may notice a flicker in JH's green eyes.

"Oh I think we can come up with something," he says as he looks to the others.

And my time is up again...crap.
See everyone in the morning ;)

The mage swallows heavily, beginning to realize his danger for the first time.

"Well, yes, when you put it that way, I'm sure we can come up with some reasonable compromise. A, um, lavendar ioun stone perhaps?" he asked nervously.

Azuri'ith gently set a lavendar ioun stone on the table in front of the mage. "You would be amazed at the things people drop when they visit the elemental plane of air," he said dryly. "Now hand over the star."

The mage looked nervously around as he took out the star and set it on the table. Arielle happily grabbed it and held it close.

"Thank you very much."

with that I'm out. see ya.

Morning All :)
Glad to see that JH didn't rearrange that wizard's face ;P

Nope. The wizard looked around at the bunch of you, realized that he was the random encounter and thought it looked like a good time to learn basic manners :)

Well sometimes it is best to know your role... :P

"Well, I'm glad that wasn't an akward situation," Devlyn says as they walk away from the wizard's table.

"We might want to be mindful of getting bad word of mouth spread about us around here - beingg banned from the Bazaar wouldn't be a good idea just now."

"What? You mean me? That's charming for us Jacks. ;)"

"Besides, us new dads are a bit over-protective."

"The sad thing is that I know you mean that," he says with a grin. "Fortunately for all of us, Arielle has more than enough charm to deal with most folks amicably."

"Let's see how many more we can get back," as they step back out into the bustle of the Bazaar.

Arielle stops to concentrate for a moment. "One of the shinies went back into the Dreamlands, I think. So that leaves nine shinies for us to find." She turns around, trying to determine which one is closest.
"That way," she says, pointing down a street.

"Here, take my hand," Allura says, holding out her hand for Lk. "We wouldn't want you to get lost in the crowd. Not everyone in the Bazaar is to be trusted, so you need to stay close, okay?"

Allura wrote:

Mumbling that he can take care of himself, Lk takes Allura's hand anyway.

"Alright then, let's go get it," Devlyn says as the group heads down the street.

He smiles knowingly at LK's statement.

Arielle slows a bit and looks longingly as they pass a stand selling cotton candy. Azuri'ith sighs. He is already familiar with this phenomenon and knows that the girl will remain distracted until she ingests some form of sugar. He grumbles slightly as he purchases the sweet and hands it to her. He looks at JH and shrugs.

"As near as I have been able to observe she seems to crave sugar with the same intensity that the Jacks crave alcohol. I apologize in advance for any damage her teeth sustain from indulging that craving, but it seems to be necessary to keep her free from distractions."

JH looks at Allura holding Lk's hand and holds out his own for Arielle as they head down the street. His face and eyes seem to be more 'awake' after their encounter with the wizard. Even his stride is stronger.

"You should not get angry with people for wanting to hold onto the shinies. They see how beautiful they are. And they do not know what they are, or how important they are to us. We should try to keep it a secret if we can. The truth will only confuse them."

JH laughs

Speaking of alcohol...later, I guess....

Arielle frowns in concentration. "Okay, Daddy," she says slowly, "but what's a secret?"

While Arielle indulges herself, JH stops by a small both and speaks to the owner. He returns a moment later with a small bundle.

To Arielle, "For you, once you wash your hands and mouth."

JH groans ...It's like a surprise...

She eagerly reaches out for the bundle and opens it up...

Inside the bundle is a small pink t-shirt with 'Dark & Stormy Princess' on the front, with butterflies and songbirds. On the back, 'Protected by the Dark & Stormy Knights' with a picture of the Jack clan.

"It's a tradition that our favorite ladies wear these shirts. Your mommy has one with different pictures."
