Chat room is at http://chat.dmtools.org/. If you can, Set, show up tomorrow night for the game and we'll play with 7 players. I apologize for overlooking your class choice in your initial email. I have a feeling someone will have technical difficulties or simply be unable to make it, so as an alternate, you should get in anyway. But even if everyone makes it, we'll get you in.

Cool, I wouldn't want to bump anyone out, or take the group over whatever limit of players is required for the game to 'count' by Pathfinder Society standards, 'though! That wouldn't be fair to the other six or so guys who did actually follow directions. :)

Testing to see what avatar this name has, btw, this is Set. I don't want to risk going to My Account again to check...

Apparently, no avatar at all! Time to go look for one...

Can I get some information on the server name to connect to, and the username & password to use to log in?

I don't know what yoda will do, but when Pygon runs games we start a private room in the chat where he gives us his IP address and we dont use a password. The user name can be anything you want it to be, if yoda sets up a password it wouldn't be linked to your username.

That's good to know. So you haven't heard anything in the VIP Room about where to get that sort of information for tonight's game? If I don't hear anything else this afternoon, I'll look in the chat room for more info.

Dark Archive

Yoda hasn't made one yet, or atleast he didn't invite me...

But he also just showed up about 20 minutes ago too.

I'll poke him again and see if he say something in here.

Liberty's Edge

When doing anything with TTop, it's usually best to have an outside chat room to meet at to coordinate. It's likely we'll start a private channel at the Paizo Chat room where I'll hand out my IP address so that yoda can host through me.

Then, if something bad happens (timeouts, etc.), we still have a place to communicate and re-connect.

Note that the Chat Room works best with Firefox. Internet Explorer has a bad habit of regularly freezing up for some users there.

Remember, have TTop installed and running before you arrive to play, because it can take 30 minutes+ to get it set up if you haven't started yet.

This.

I have created a google group for organizing online PFS games, either ones I'm running or ones run by other GMs. Membership is open to anyone: Pathfinder Society Online Collective.

Liberty's Edge

ok, just to have this thread marked when there is anything new :D

right now TopRPG feels pretty mcuh intuitive... will have to try the connection :)

Let us know how the 1st session went.

Things were initially slow due to getting used to how the program worked. A few bugs with proxy hosting were also found that I'll need to squash.

We still have a little bit of the first scenario to complete.

It didn't help that I was the session host and my internet service decided to drop out intermittently. Grr. So a couple of times, everyone dumped back to the chat room to wait for me to return.

But, our PCs are all still alive and charging forward with the plot!

I commend yoda for juggling more players in TTop than I ever have (Me, Ian, Montalve, Skyler, hogarth, and David!)

Scarab Sages

The dice roller loves me.

The technical glitches and late start aside, I had a blast! And it didn't seem to progress any slower than a tabletop game, IMO.

Paizo Employee Director of Brand Strategy

I had a great time, and it was, in some ways a more enjoyable experience than a face-to-face game. I loved that I didn't have tons of books and dice around cluttering things up, and the combat trackers and such are also valuable tools. I also felt like the roleplay aspect of the game was heightened because everyone's interaction with one another was solely through the PCs. I did find that it was hard to follow the conversation at some points, since there was crosstalking on the chat application, and ad libbing NPCs was tough as I always had to make sure I was talking as the right character. I'll get used to all that, though.

While disappointed we didn't get the whole scenario done, I think we can wrap it up pretty quickly next time we play, and possibly even get through the next scenario, if we have a large enough block of time and the internet gods grace us with no technical difficulties.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who played, and to anyone who didn't, join the google group linked to above where we'll be planning the next session and future games.

Dark Archive

It was very cool, and thanks to both Pygon for hosting, Yoda for running and everyone else for remaining patient with the inevitable shake-down cruise hiccoughs!

Xoshak's dice were red-hot! We're all like, 'miss, miss, miss' and he spends the first three rounds of combat, 'hit, and a kill, hit, and a kill, hit, and a kill, what the hell is wrong with the rest of you?'

I also rolled really well (when I was cheating!). Apparently forgetting the 'd' in the /roll d20 just causes the program to roll 20. Woot! Ahem. My bad.

It was great to play something timed more like a tabletop session, after a year of nothing but play by posts (which I love for the rich characterization and time for detail, but are kinda ssslloooowwwww).

Glad it worked out. Did it end up being a full table? What are the plans for next Wednesday?

There were 6 PCs: two clerics, two bards, a druid and a wizard. Go Team Spellcaster!

Dark Archive

Yes, that's right, a party with *two* Bards, and I'm not sure if either of them could sing! (Neither carried any musical instruments that I noticed either, although one of them made sweet, sweet music, or perhaps sweet, sweet lovin,' we're not sure, with an inanimate object...)

Not him, his mother

i can only say Sun Domain and a good roll for Turn Undead... rocks!

For any who haven't contributed to the TTopRPG Changes thread, feel free to make requests at the PFS Collective

Liberty's Edge

We're planning to finish up the first scenario tonight at 8pm EST. Keep checking the PFS Collective for more info.

Liberty's Edge

Silent Tide is complete!

We are victorious (mostly)! We kicked their butts (had lucky rolls) and commanded the battlefield (salvaged what we could of a near disaster).

Onward! (With more supplies this time!!)

Liberty's Edge

Wooo! What a blast!

I think the party's best tank is the druid's animal companion, ironically enough. Go doggie!

Thanks to everyone for making it happen; can't wait for the next one!

Yeah, 1st level, when the dog has 2 HD and the rest of the party has 1 HD, and 3rd level, when the dog has 4 HD and his first bonus feat (I take lt armor profiency, to get barding and up the dog's AC), the dog kicks butt.

It's at it's peak already 'though. It gets much less sexy as the levels go by. :)

You don't need armor proficiency for leather barding or masterwork studded leather barding (since they have a -0 armor check penalty).

Liberty's Edge

hey if the dog is going to help us covers I will help with some money for the barding... that dog helped save my life and I am thankful.

Hey all,

I posted on the google group already but wanted to do so here as well. I had something come up tonight that kept me late at work and I didn't have the time to do the necessary prep/TTop setup for the game tomorrow night, so I'm going to have to postpone it until next week. Sorry if this disrupts anyone's plans. I'll be sure to leave room for this sort of situation in the future. Again, sorry for the late notice, but I know there's no way I could get it done before tomorrow night, so I thought I'd give as much warning as possible.

Sovereign Court

Anyone care to fill me in on what happened in last night's game (Hydra Fang Incident) after the...

Spoiler:
sahuagin attack
? I remember we were pretty beat up...

(Put any spoilers in spoiler blocks for the benefit of those who haven't played it, of course.)

Ehh, not much. Gerard missed a lot, like he seems to. Them's the dice.

I presume there was at least one more battle, yes?

End of HFI in magic invisible text. Just squeeze lemon juice in your eyes to read them.

Spoiler:
We made it to the final battle, after beating the fish-sticks (thanks to Balthazar's sleep and some good rolls by Kelon), healed up with some conveniently purchased CLW scrolls (with Shemsa at 0 hp, doggie unconscious and Derichio floating in the water, only face up because the Bard-played-by-Russel-Crowe-whose-name-I-forget turned him over). At the ship, the bad-guy got shoved up against a wall and sliced to death by just about everyone, in a scene that looked like a high-school-bullying with swords, with a Grease spell from Balthazar resulting in his spending the last round of combat on the ground, looking up at his impending death. Balthazar made some good crossbow hits, after 'stealing Kelon's grunt.' (Everytime Kelon grunted before an attack, he hit well. And then Balthazar, having missed the previous round, grunted as he attacked and hit. But it didn't work for Kelon after that, so we joked that Balthazar totally 'stole his grunt.')

Sovereign Court

Thanks! The suspense of not knowing how it ended was killing me...

There was a spell book aquired mid-game. Check with Yoda to see if it counts as 'access' for Balthazar to purchase spells from!

It only had 0 and 1st level spells and these are always open access.

Grand Lodge

are you still doing this and any openings?

There have been some semi-regular games during the day (which doesn't help me, but it's great for some people).
