None? My nephews like that show, though. I was in my 20s when it came on, so I was probably a little bit outside of the target demographic. I did draw my oldest nephew a picture of "PimpBob", though.
Are you trying to say that adults can't like kids' cartoons? I beg to differ. In fact, there has been a whole paradigm shift in the way cartoons have been developed in the past few years. Try it - go back to some kids' shows from the sixties or seventies, and you will not find any of the sly references and adult-only jokes that are so prevalent these days.

Sorry, there are more "adult" easter eggs in a typical Bugs Bunny cartoon, and they are much more clever, than anything in SpongeBob. I never said I didn't watch it (I babysit for my sister here and there), I'm just saying that by the time the show came out, I wasn't feeling it. Loved the heck out of Animaniacs, could watch Dexter's Laboratoy and Johnny Bravo all day, so it isn't "cartoons" I don't care for, it's a cartoon written specifically for five year olds I didn't get into.

Most of the The bugs bunny cartoons (the good ones at least) were shown as openers and fillers for WB movies in theaters during the 4os to the mid 60s and were written for adults not kids. In the late 60s up to the 80s anything animated was automatically assumed to be for kids only and cartoons created during this time were solely written for kids (Bullwinkle was an exception). In the Late 80s new cartoons were created written for both kids and adults like Ren and Stimpy, Cow and Chicken and a few more and then with the start of cartoon network animated shows were again created for adults only.

Okay, you got me. I wasn't really thinking of Warner Bros, which probably sets the bar for full-spectrum family entertainment higher than any show before or since. I was actually thinking of the kinds of cartoons marketed to the wee ones, like Snorks and Smurfs and all that stuff. I always felt that Warner Bros was a bit too sophisticated for 5-year olds to grasp fully, and much of the humor was lost on them (but they could totally enjoy it on the "someone shoots at the bunny, gets an anvil dropped on them" level). Which also led me to believe that SpongeBob was not really intended for 5-year olds, since so much of the humor would go over their heads (ever see the episode that critiqued modern schools of art, for example?) but they could still totally enjoy it on the "funny talking underwater creatures" level.
And just for the record, I don't really like this show much either, but my wife adores it and I have absorbed countless hours of SpongeBob merely through proximity. And any episode with "Sheldon" Plankton warms the cockles of my cold and dusty heart.
