Legacy of Fire

51 to 100 of 113 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

My first time DMing... we'll be starting Saturday!

  • Male Human Fighter - current slave looking to earn freedom
  • Male Half-orc Cleric of Sarenrae - sent on a mission to restore the church in Kelmarane
  • Female Human Druid - grew up in the Brazen Peaks, managing water for her people; wants to drive out the Gnolls
  • Male Human Wizard - on his first mission from the Pathfinder Society
  • Female Half-elf Bard - her elf-mother was killed when Kelmarane fell, she's been piecing together family history

...here's hoping for some exciting roleplaying!

Initial party:
Morgrym Stonefist: Dwarven Fighter, Reclaiming your Roots
Tessara Wyrdon: Elven Fighter
Mervi Busharcher: Halfling Sorceror, Reclaiming your Roots
Kyoll: Tiefling Rogue
Beldin: Halfling Ranger
Cyprian Mazarin: Human Cleric

Replacements:
Morgrym for Kyras, Druid and Freed Slave
Tessara Wyrdon for her sister: Aldriana Wyrdon, Elven Wizard
Mervi Busharcher for unknown. Character incomplete.

Current Assembly:
Kyras: Druid
Aldriana Wyrdon: Wizard
-unknown-: Fighter?
Kyoll: Tiefling Rogue
Beldin: Ranger/Rogue
Cyprian Mazarin: Wizard/Cleric

We have convinced one the player's that has not run a game in ten years to run The Legacy of Fire path. He has not set a date for the start but we are almost ready to begin. He has read through the path and made his notes and the players planned their characters.

The Party
Halfling Rogue, a ex-slave and Pesh addict. A little man looking for a better life and bigger rewards.
Human Cleric of Sarenrae, the man from a different land looking for redemption.
Human Monk of Irori, A man of low birth looking to aspire to the leaves of his god.
Human Sorcerer, I high born local of Katapesh, a scribe looking to make a name for himself after lessening to to many tales of adventure.

Starting in "Howl of the Carrion King" with

Human Monk
Half-Orc Rogue
Human Cleric of Erastil
Wild-Elf Barbarian
Halfling Ranger
Human Fighter

At the end of "House of the Beast" there were some replacements to make

Human Bard (subtitute for the monk due to the lack of arcane spellpower)
Human Paladin (substitute for the Rogue - which was critted by Ghartok)
Wild-Elf Barbarian (Moldspeaker)
Halfling Ranger
Human Fighter

I made the mistake to let everyone play the character of his desire... so it's nearly impossible to threat this party by now with physical combat. (For example, the Death Worm on their way to Katapesh City died before his 3rd round of initiative.) Every Encounter has to be adjusted to let them feel that there will be some danger on their path...

Right now they finished the diner party at Rayhan's house.

I haven't got my copies of path 5 and 6 - so I still hope that there will be a arcane challenge in their future.

I'm running Legacy of Fire for my wife, two kids and a couple of friends. They have just finished exploring the Refuge of Nethys and are currently planning their final assault on Kelmarane. Here is the party.

Blademaster D'Rock - Human, fighter, moldspeaker, seeking to make a living from his fighting or crafting skills.
Saba' - Human sorceress, former pesh farmer, seeking to understand the emergence of her powers (she doesn't actually know her bloodline).
Tabitha Mistsilver - Human, wizard, fled her cruel master as an apprentice (imagine Ezren beating his aprentice with that cane) and is now seeking her roots in Kelmarane.
Fletch - Elven Ranger, hunting the Carrion King seeking justice after the gnolls ravaged his village.
Lyndrea Coolspring - Halfling cleric of Sarenrae. Former slave, seeking Haleen who was instrumental in freeing her from slavery. Currently managing to discover all of the Sarenrae bennies hidden throughout the adventure.

Steve

We started the AP yesterday with the following group:

Erumara - Elven Witch (Wisdom patron), older sister of the twins, wasn't around when her family was attacked by gnolls/parents killed/siblings enslaved, found them with Haleen's help

Coisilriel - Elven Oracle of Life, twin of Ro, helped by Haleen after escape from gnolls, her sight was taken in return for revelation, devout follower of Sarenrae well on her way to the healing-related Achievement Feat

Romenthalion - Elven Zen Archer Monk, twin of Coi, helped by Haleen after escape from gnolls, protective of his sister, devout follower of Sarenrae and dedicated Gnoll Killer.

Yrthor - Elven Barbarian, joined group travelling with Garavel a week ago, doesn't talk much

This is our first time playing an all elf party, and it's going well so far. It makes for a fascinating dynamic in the LoF atmosphere. We look forward to seeing how the new classes and alternate class abilities work out.

Also, pugwampis can suck it.

Just got home from starting this AP. We ended the session at the point that they cleared out the Monastery, but before reporting to Almah. What an afternoon/night!

The Party consists of:
Ormizd: Elven Wizard. Between the Pugwampis and his own inability to roll well, he likely is going to develop self-esteem issues.

Conan: Half-orc Barbarian. He was the only one to tempt fate in the rafters and never broke a single beam. King Mokknok flailed uselessly against him while the brawny half-orc cut him down in two solid hits. Threw his greataxe at the Giant Wolf Spider after it scuttled out of his reach up the wall and cleaved it in twain.

Havacius: Half-elf Paladin, More used to using his Greatsword, he ended up firing shots at enemies far out of his reach with his crossbow most of the time. This failed almost completely. In frustration, he threw his blade at a pugwampi in the rafters, connected, and staggered it in a single blow.

Decoy: Human Rogue; Once again, the pugwampis severely curtailed his effectiveness, but when he did hit, he hit hard.

Grom, Half-elf Ranger, Not even the unluck aura could hold back his ability to fell creatures at range.

Zanthrax, Gnome Oracle of Bone; An ADD and disturbing gnome suffering the curse of blindness. During the fire, he built a sand castle. During the battle in the chapel, he took to tying the entrails of the fallen pugwampis together and casting light upon them. When that failed to bring them closer to him, he began moving about the room and hissing at them in order to intimidate them. Fashioned the skulls into knee-pads and pauldrons afterward and then made the Conan a necklace out of the skull of Mokknok. Jumped up and down on the bed during the battle against the wolf spider. Animated the corpse of a baboon so that he could ride it for the short period of time it was around.

Zanthrax, by dice, became the Moldspeaker...

A barbarian name Conan?! How did he come up with that one?! xD

Toadkiller Dog wrote:

We just finished House of the Beast, or group consists of:

Zahir- Paladin of Sarenrae
Sharin- Cleric of Sarenrae
Vaen- Elf Wizard, Sorceror, Witch... though mostly just witch
Talan- Elf Ranger/Sorceror- Also the Moldspeaker
and
Kobad- Human Fighter/Rouge-Shadowdancer... currently dead on way to Katapesh to maybe be raised if we can survive the perilous journey.

My group has just started, we're two sessions in.

Fijit, Gnome Arcane Duelist (Bard)
Teras, Half-Elf Druid, with a wolf companion
El Mental Inferno (yeah, I know), Gnome Fire Sorceror/Rogue
Keladry, Human Cavalier, Order of the Sword (Moldspeaker), with an Heirloom weapon and reclaiming her roots in Kelmarane (masterwork armor)
Abel Nightroad, Human Cleric of Nethys, Seeking Haleen
Zeigal, Spriteling Monk (see below), freed slave

This last character is a spriteling, a bastard form of quickling without all the cool speed and powers. I've set up a form of progression for him, based on the old Racial Paragon Classes from UA, that will allow him to eventually become a full quickling (basically, as he gains levels in Fey, he gets +1 dex, +20 move, a spell-like ability and a feat, both chosen from short lists. 4 levels in this gives him the capstone ability of Quickling invisibility).

The Adventure Thus Far:

So far, the cleric of Nethys has secured Sarenrae's blessing from cleaning the shrine in the monastery, and the cavalier has become the moldspeaker - but not without losing a LOT of stat points (-3 STR, -7 CON!) due to the disease. Only 4 of these points have been healed through one of Father Zastoran's potions (begrudgingly given).

The quickling scouted the area by running all the way around the Pesh fields (20+ miles, took him about an hour), then running right up through Kelmarane, luring the Dire Boar (he called it a WarBoar) and they Hyenas after him, then jumping off the cliff behind the battle market, trusting to his ring of feather falling to protect him. An interesting tactic that worked well, since no one could react to him until he was mostly past them, due to his ridiculous speed.

Infiltrating Kelmarane, the group has been overpowered for most everything they met at the start, so they got overconfident on their second day in the ruins. At only 2nd level, they got too close to the battle market, and met Kezurkian, with 4 gnolls in tow. More gnolls and hyenas showed up during this battle - for a while, I thought a TPK was in progress, until the fast little monk got a lucky hit (actually his ONLY hit) and stunned Kezurkian. It was downhill from there. (literally, they managed to defeat Kezurkian, then ran back down the hill to get back to the Monastery).

Our group is half way through HotB. Overall it is working great and folks are having fun.

Gnome Oracle of Heavens
Gnome Cavalier
Elf Alchemist
Elf Fighter (Archer)
Dwarf Barbarian (Moldspeaker)
Tiefling Fighter/Thief (Using Council of Thieves race rules.)

After four sessions, the group is about half-way through Howl. Lots of role-playing in the first four sessions. I suspect we shall advance faster.

The group:
Human Oracle of Life
Elf Wizard (Transmuter)
Half-orc Inquisitor (Moldspeaker)
Halfling Cavlalier
Human Monk
Human Rouge

All built with a 12-point buy.

Huzzah! I finally get to post here. Glad to see I'm not the only GM in 2011 running LoF. Your parties look like fun. Here's who I'm running with....

Garruk Male Half-Orc Barbarian (Gnoll Killer)
Malcom Male Half-Elf Druid
Sydney Female Human Rogue (seeking Haleen)
Roy Whyndam Male Human Sorceror (Genie Blood)
Rufus Whyndam Human Fighter/Ranger

Liberty's Edge

Well we've been playing since about October last year and have managed to get about 7 sessions in. This is the party as it stands:

Khalid Shihab al Hashim - A young male human Fighter with dreams of becoming an alchemist.

Kay'Enn Telva - A Half Elf Ranger (with Guide Archtype) who has a bitter hatred of Gnoll kind.

Vashkakish - A Half Gnoll (used rules for Half Orc) Druid and Half brother to Kay'Enn

Ding - Male Gnome Sorcerer. The eldest of the two gnome siblings.

Nini - Female Gnome Summoner. The younger and more psychotic of the two.

You can catch our adventures at :

Obsidian Portal

Huh, I actually forgot to post here. Here are my heroes:

Ahmad ibn Fadlan - Gnoll Killer, wielder of Zayifid's weapon, which I named Inferno.
Alsad Ali Alhasan - Elemental Sorcerer, taking up the Genie Binder class.
Cassim Balkhi - Priest of Sarenrae and wielder of Dawn's Swift Burning.
Pavlik Stonebrow - The Moldspeaker (although, IMC instead of Vardishal's spirit residing in the slime mold, it resided in a small earth elemental, making the character The Stonespeaker). Wielder of the Tempest greataxe.

Currently, they're in Kakishon, exploring The Pleasure Palace and are about to pay a visit to Artel Norin.

I'm very excited to be running Legacy of Fire. I just found out about paizo this summer and it has made my life as a GM a very good one :)

Our group consists of:

Deek - Elven alchemist
Voltaeru - heavens oracle of serenrae (now departed)
Shakkakhan - human summoner
Fun-guy - Half-orc Witch
Pliney the younger - dwarven monk
Howard Philips - Cynidecean Paladin of Gorm

plot spoiler:

I started out by having the group enslaved by the pactmasters and having the oracle come and save them by random chance. It wasn't a great way to do it but it seemed cool to use the oracle as a prophet type character. Then after wandering the desert Dashki came and found them. By chance our alchemist received the mold speaker and in the chamber of Nethys our dwarven monk was stricken with Lycanthropy. I couldnt' figure out a way to resolve this issue so I used a very old adventure i stumbled across. The lost city. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_City_(Dungeons_%26_Dragons)
I know getting a remove curse would have done just fine, but I wanted to make it more difficult than that.

I had Zastoran and the oracle use their divination to track where wolfsbane might be. Then I led them into an underground pyramid dungeon that I made from scratch since that one was way outdated. And I used the secret underground city of Cynidecea as a place to introduce a new player. So now I have a subterannean masked guy who trips on hallucenigens in the group. It makes for an interesting party. Also the monk is now a lycanthrope and changed his name to Pliney the King since he most resembles King from Tekken now. HA

What was also funny is my group constantly referred to dashki as the gnoll f*****. So I had the underground pyramid infested with gnoll cultists of Lamashtu to kind of tie in with the world. Dashki came with the group because they didn't have a survivalist or tracker. The party was defeated and ended up being used for ceremonial purpose and needless to say Dashki lived up to his name and also ended up dieing. But almah didn't mind too much because she's taken a liking to the exotic, very tall, charismatic hero. Heh.

My group just defeated Xulthos and moved finished the mountains maw set piece.

I have had a great time adding in desert like encounters. I've been using a masked Oracle of Fire with the fauchard and combat reflexes. I put him 3 levels higher than the group. Sometimes he comes with monks who use firepoi. I also brought a sandstorm powered by an air elemental.
Cant' wait til they can handle some giant sandworms.

We had our first session earlier this month. We ended after fighting the pugwampis in the monestary. Our second session will occur on Sunday. Here is my group:

Uraben - Human figther (Archer).

Cormack/Bransen - Human wizard/fighter with a multiple personality complex. He wakes up some days thinking he is a wizard named Cormack and other days he is Bransen a fighter(he actually rolls a d4 at the beginning of each day to determine what he'll play for that day).

Krolag - Half-orc rouge who just earned his freedom from slavery and is out to kill some knolls.

Ireidan - Human cleric of Sarenrae that also was casted into slavery before being helped by a Paladin of Sarenrae.

Urbakken - Human fighter who is looking for a lost brother.

Alexander - Human cleric of Iomedae.

I have a NPC that I'll use throughout the adventure path. A scriber by trade, he was known for being able to scribe complex scrolls for wizards. After making a name for himself, he became fairly wealthy. He is a crooked man and got mixed into a slave ring, because he needed some test subjects for his next batch of spells. He is in his mid-30's and now has an itch for adventuring. He finds out about the group helping Almah and he would like to acquire more information about the half-orc and human that use to be slaves. He will be after Krolag and Ireidan to re-slave them. They could be worth quite some gold.

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder Maps, Starfinder Maps Subscriber

I have a big group of eight characters.

Koorock the half orc barbarian
Thrack, a devious half orc rogue (dex build)
Snout, a pesh addicted half orc rogue (strength build)
Halima, my mix-maxed female elven Dream witch (cousin to Haleen)
Aurora, human female cleric of Sarenrae (our missionary)
Bowdalin, half elven zen archer monk (also cousin to Haleen)
Davrin, human male Air Elementalist Sorceror (my part time player)
Cinderfire human male Fire Elementalist Sorceror

Definitely beefing up the encounters by quite a bit in terms of number, but not necessary power level. We'll see how it goes.

We have 3 people at our table, and to make things easier on the DM to balance, each of the players (me and one other fella) are playing 2 separate characters.

Mine

  • Ahnekhet Anubu (m) - elf ranger (Gnoll Killer, desert runner alternate racial trait, working toward All Gnolls Must Die Achievement Feat)
  • Lotus Jabari (f) - human divine magus (Finding Haleen, worships Irori, [variant house ruled magus - different spell list, Wis is key stat, reflavored arcane pool into divine pool, etc])

    Other Player

  • Siraaj Leonidas (m) - human barbarian (Earning Your Freedom, focusing on meteor hammer destructiveness)
  • Nadia Leonidas (f) - human bard (Earning Your Freedom, sister to Siraaj, working toward the enchantment based Achievement Feat)

We've cleared out most of the pugwampi laden temple of Sarenrae - just one big room left. The AP has been a blast thus far - really, really enjoying it.

Some terrible things have been happening to poor Ahnekhet of late though (he had a rough last session and failed many, many saves) so we'll see how long he lasts. Our GM says we have an under-CR'd encounter approaching, but he's confident we can take it as is.

    /shudder

  • The Exchange

I've ran two sessions now, and we've had a lot of fun so far. They're just at the tail end of clearing the monastery.

    My PCs:

Gyr - a gnoll. I let him play a standard gnoll for the first level. After gaining XP for level 2, he's added one level as a ranger. He's a gnoll-killer gnoll and is going Beastmaster archetype. So far, he's a brutal hand-to-hand damage-dealer.

Nova - an awakened wolf. Again, I didn't give over the two additional HD right away and let him basically play as a talking wolf for the first level. His second level netted him his first d10. One more level with a d10 and then he can start stacking other class levels. He plans on going Soul Knife and then Shadowdancer (yeah, and I thought the gnoll was an unusual choice). He's Seeking Adventure so he has a wayfinder as a collar.

Razstan Dreamwalker - Elven Rogue w/ Swashbuckler archetype. He has a real seedy backstory involving Duskwalker agents and Okeno where he spent quite a bit of time. He's along to Reclaim his Roots, since Kelmarane is where his mother passed away. He's the most effective ranged fighter in the group even though he's also handy in a swordfight.

Dryven Kozlov - Dwarven Barbarian w/ Invulnerable Rager and Drunken Brute archetypes. He's spent quite a bit of his starting funds to have a sturdy, custom-built keg full of ale strapped to his back that he can drink via tubes that connect to his mouth. He's also Seeking Adventure. Another hand-to-hand brawler.

Odd thing is that the moldspeaker ended up being Nova. So, midgame, I had to decide to make it Cestus with Spikes. Makes for a really interesting mental image since I made it a matched pair on the front paws. Digging for it was also kinda funny.

I also ran two sessions for the following PC's:

Tasah: Female half-elf ranger. From the area around Solku, she is a gnoll-killer, focusing on ranged combat.

Zaal: Male dwarven cleric of Sarenrae with the missionary trait and a sky-high constituion. Wants to establish a church to Sarenrae around Kelmarane.

Shahnameh: Human Inquisitor of Sarenrae. An orphan that was raised by Haleen, so his mission is to look for her now that she has gone missing. He knows both Zaal and Sovinai (they were raised together by Haleen) pretty well.

Sovinai: Mwangi Witch, abducted in a slaver's raid when she was a little child, sold on Katapesh slave markets to Haleen, who raised her as her own child along with Shahnameh. Obviously she is also looking for Haleen.

They managed to clear out the monastery, although Tasah is severely weakened after their visit to the chapterhouse...

    The Exchange

Might as well post our LoF group. We started last July and have been going pretty steady since then. We started book 5 last session and expect to be done with the entire AP by mid-summer. We played with factions per the Faction Guide as well. It worked really well for the first 3ish books, and has died down since then.

Mehrzad: Kelish Inquisitor of Sarenrae. Brother of Haleen, highly dextrous, and an exceedingly high sense motive/perception. Religious faction.
Simza: Varisian Cleric of Desna. Went to Kelmarane to start a religious temple (I believe). She is largely into freedom and a member of the Andoran Eagle Knights.
Growf: Goblin rogue. Sneaky little goblin that works in the nightstalls. He's our go to goblin for buying and selling anything near Katapesh. Member of the Duskwalkers.
Tusk: Half-orc fighter, focused on a heavy flail and tripping opponents. Has an absolute hate of gnolls and went to Kelmarane to exterminate them. Member of a gnoll killing faction.
Ric: Human witch, raised by gnomes. He's a very quiet member of the party, but who also seems to know much of history and learned things. Tends to work in the background to secure deals with our spoils. The party jokes that he is a member of the "Old Gods" faction, however it is most likely a merchant faction (The Aspis Consortium maybe?).

    Liberty's Edge

I'll be starting my first Pathfinder game, using LoF, in the next week or so and character creation has been completed, so without further ado, here are the PCs:

Khair: Male Djinni-descended Sylph Sorcerer (with an Air Elemental bloodline), raised by Haleen after she bought him free from slavers and is currently looking for her. Neutral, since he doesn't care much about anyone but himself and her.

Mazoh: Male Human Oracle of the Heavens who worships Desna and Sarenrae as a dual pantheon of sorts (representing night and day). Descended from natives of Kelmarane, and looks forward to reclaiming it. He has a particular hatred of Gnolls. CG in alignment, since, well, he's a nice enough guy.

"Kid": Female Human Barbarian. Raised an unnamed slave (she still lacks a name, actually) by a desert tribe and then sold as a gladiator when she...damaged the chief's son for getting overly familiar (re: attempted rape). She's earning her freedom at the moment. With a Greataxe. Based somewhat on Tiger from the "Tiger and Del" novels...though obviously quite loosely. NG and a (previously secret) devotee of Cayden Cailean.

Jineal Talia Vritas: Female Gnome Bard and exiled former noble of Galt. CN and, after being raised in the River Kingdoms following a childhood in Galt, philosophically devoted to the overthrow of established authority. Not particularly religious.

Kharesh: Male Half-Orc Fighter who dual-wields a scimitar and shield. Former slave-warrior in Qadira and current Pesh addict. A decent guy, and one with memories of the ancient Half-Orc tribes of Katapesh. NG in alignment, and religiously devoted to the idea of Gorum as a Half-Orc.

Naadhira: Female Human Inquisitor of Sarenrae with the Heroism Domain. Missionary for Sarenrae, destroyer of evil, and travelling performer. Uses a bow in combat and is surprisingly likable and charming for an Inquisitor. CG in alignment.

General Party Notes: With then exception of the Inquisitor (at Wis 14) the entire party possesses Wis 8 (except for the Gnome, who's got a 6). I allow Cha to be used for Will Saves, so they aren't doing too badly there, but their other Wis based stuff is going to be notably bad. Probably forever. Which should be hilarious, actually. :)

I mean, all that stuff in volume 3 about how the PCs need to make a mistake for the plot to work? Not really a worry for this group.

How did you handle stat generation for this character? Specifically did you institute the part in awaken that states an awakened animal gets 3d6 Intelligence, +1d3 Charisma? Or did you simply use normal ability score generation?

    I've got an interesting party.

Bakin: Male Half-Orc Monk of the Sacred Mountain that focuses on grappling and being an immovable object. Also a professional masseuse.

Nell: Female Gnome Cleric of Sarenrae. She's interesting because while she worships Sarenrae, she doesn't completely follow all of her tenets (for example, she owns a bar and brothel).

Trig: Female Gnome Druid with a Katepeshi Lion animal companion. She managed to take out four gnolls in one shot with Stone Call.

Al: Human Magus focusing on critical hits with his primary weapon. He became the Moldspeaker.

Felliped: The same Felliped from the story (a new addition to the team). He is playing the character as Chaotic Neutral and contracted lycanthropy (leopard) because he decided to keep the cursed dagger.

We have been playing since august last year, and currently are beginning "the end of eternity".

The group is composed of the iconics Merisiel, Sajan, Seoni, Kyra and a ranger named Akif (who hates gnolls and is rather happy with that choice).

The players really loved the pugwampis (one of their best experience as players, and they are playing since 15 years for some of them). They are also really enjoying Kakishon.

Yeah, I went with the awakened animal 3d6 Intelligence and +1d3 Charisma. He rolled an 18 on the Intelligence roll. Yeah, and moldspeaker bonus. He's since decided that he'd make a better Psion than Soul Knife/Shadowdancer, so he's much more effective than I'd originally envisioned (especially since I allowed him to take the Multiattack feat and use it with the clawed Cestus and bite attacks). He uses his Psion abilities for self-buffing mostly, so he's a combat-based Psion.

Update: We're nearly done with House of the Beast now. Gyr bit the dust halfway through Howl. Replacement character:

Avin - Human Sorcerer with some sort of fire-based bloodline. Worships Kossuth as presented in the Forgotten Realms setting, but I allowed it in my campaign. Sort of a meta character which I didn't like at first, but he's not taken advantage of it, so no problems yet. Oh, and he's a Missionary.

    Silver Crusade

We started a few weeks ago and here is the group as it stands now. I'm having a lot of fun running the path and my group just made it out of a nearby shrine less than a mile from Kelmarane.

Alshain Al-sa'lak (CG male halfing Cleric of Desna): Alshain is the teams medic as well as a skilled fortune teller. He came to Kelmarane to find Haleen, practically one of the family, along with his sister. He is ever optimistic and cheerful and never fails to consult his harrow deck if something is amiss, someone needs advice, or he's just curious.

Pitaline Al-sa'lak (NG female halfing Fighter/Abjurer): Pita as she likes to be called is the more down to earth sister to Alshain. What she lacks in social graces, she makes up for with knowledge and physical grace. She is the moldspeaker and will do her best to live up to expectations whilst also helping her brother search for their adopted sister.

Bichalla (CN female gnoll Ranger (Skirmisher)): Bichalla was the runt of her tribe and was kicked out relatively early in life. She ultimately became a slave of Garavel's and currently travels with the party to gain her freedom someday. She is a devout worshiper of Sarenrae and hopes to find redemption out in the sands. (As GM, I basically reskinned a half-orc with a few minor adjustments to allow someone to play a gnoll)

Diya al Din Aoukar (CG male half-orc Inquisitor of Sarenrae): Diya became involved in Sarenrae's church at an early age but was never really considered as a candidate for the cloth as he was too suspicious and not as forgiving as typical priests were. His devotion and strong mind made him and excellent candidate for an inquisitor and he now heads to Kelmarane to restore the local church for his faith.

Manara binte Amina (NG female half-elf Rogue): Manara grew up in Solku after Kelmarane fell. Her elven father recently told her of her mother's sacrifice in the battle for Kelmarane 20 years ago where she gave her life as a holy knight of Sarenrae. With her mother's scimitar in hand, she goes to free the village that meant so much to her mother.

Here's hoping the adventure path continues to amaze and impress.

With her...

I might have someone playing a gnoll as well, can you give the detailed stats for a playable gnoll. Thanks

This is the first AP that I'm running (first session it tomorrow, wish me luck!). We're using PF rules

    Currently I have...

Ishtvan-Ifrit Cabalist Magus (Fire Bloodline)-Finding Haleen
    Flin-Halfling Rogue-Fighting for Freedom
Bazig-Gnome Wizard (Air Speicalist)-I forgot what campaign Trait
Aliya-Half-Elf Ranger-Desert Child or Gnome Killer (still undecided on this one, though)

Think I'll be running as an NPC Gita-Vudrani Cleric of Irori

Supposedly they've been done for weeks, but I'm getting the first sign of character sheets from my players.

Brothers Faris (Paladin of Sarenrae) and his scarred brother, Farouq.(synthesist summoner). The latter will be starting as a fighter and

    Spoiler:
    be posessed by Vashidal's spirit
and switching out to a synthesist. I have an immense distate for the class, but it fit so well here and I can see him having a lot of fun with it (he's our resident spotlight hog) so I let that slide. Both have taken the finding Haleen trait. At first he was being horribly mutilated by his posession, but he couldnt resist filling his backstory with misery porn, as usual.

I've also got a Hungry Ghost Monk but I haven't heard a thing from this player since. I'm considering Geb as a likely origin, or perhaps Vudran or the Mwangi Expanse. He might make a good slave, but with only two other players I don't want to alienate him. He plays the loner more than enough.

All in all it's looking like it's going to shape up to be a great campaign.

Just started this last thursday, got kind of a large party.

    Nibenon Korthis, Half-elf Summoner
    Hezadar, Gnome cleric of Pharasma
    Zedicious Cypher, Half-elf Rogue
    Feredir, Elf Ranger
    Penish, Half-Orc Fighter
    Azdon, Half-elf Bard
Not named yet, Gnome Sorcerer, Abyssal Bloodline

    And Max, the Summoners Eidolon.

Only three of the players are experienced, the rest are either completely new or haven't played in a long time (pre 3.0).

Excited to be running, first adventure path.

New group, new campaign, new heroes (and corpses!)

    We started with:
    Krackenbuckle, Gnomish Sorcerer (Fey Bloodline)
    Hank (the tank), Aasimar Cleric
    Wallace, Human Barbarian
Yscar, some species of Druid (Wolf Totem)
Wolfie (Animal Companion and Tasty Meat Snack)

    Added:
    Arc, Tiefling Rogue

And just lost (see the obits thread):
    Krackenbuckle
    Arc
Wolfie (Animal Companion and Tasty Meat Snack)
Wolfie mk. II (Animal Companion and possible Tasty Meat Snack)

We'll see what joins us this week when we play Saturday. One player mentioned wanting a gunslinger, the other mentioned he'd be playing something evil, possibly an Antipaladin (it's one of those groups... the barbarian was the only good aligned party member... until he tortured a pugwampi to a slow, slow death and desecrated the remains)

Party at start of today's session:
    Hank (the tank), Aasimar Cleric
    Wallace, Human Barbarian
Yscar, some species of Druid (Wolf Totem)
Wolfie mk. II Animal Companion and Tasty Meat Snack (Deceased)
    Krackenbuckle, Gnomish Sorcerer (Deceased)
    Arc, Tiefling Rogue (Deceased)

    Added:
    Rowne, Gunslinger of some species
    Xeleoniel, Elven Necromancer (Wizard)
Wolfie mk. III (Animal Companion and potential Lunch on the Lurch)

    Newly deceased:
    Xeleoniel, Elven Necromancer (Wizard)

Xel will apparently be replaced by a Ninja after an unfortunate incident involving a pack of wyverns, a cliff edge, and a failed poison Fort save. He and his undead monstrosities shall (not) be missed...

For those playing the home game: yes, that character did not last an entire session (intro'd five minutes in, died five minutes before we ended.) Some nasty critters in them mountains... (random encounter dice were not kind, generating 6xCR5, 4xCR6, and 1xCR8 all in one day.) Puts this campaign up to 3 PC deaths and 2 Animal Companion deaths at the start of Book 2.

    LoF in MI

    Blue Psion, moldspeaker? (Adventure Seeking)
Changeling Sorcerer, Genie Bloodline (Finding Haleen)
Gnoll Ranger, dire hyena animal companion/mount (Freed Slave)

I'm running a Legacy of Fire campaign that I'm converting to use the Savage Worlds system. The characters are currently:

Hashama al Baquir (male human) - big strong tough guy who likes to hit things with his fists.

Na'elen (female elf) - a dual scimitar wielding dervish who's wanted by the law for killing an off-duty guard who was assaulting a young woman.

Mahir Al Qadir Al Adawat (male human) - basically a fantasy arabian version of MacGyver. Pretty much no combat abilities, but could build a sand-ship out of paper clips and a stick of chewing gum.

Badi Amjad (male human) - An ex-thieves guild member who left on not-so-friendly terms.

So far the conversion is working amazingly well. The savage worlds system allows for much larger fights, which suits the AP really well. It also allows me to trim a lot of the fat from the AP (by removing encounters that only exist to give the PCs enough xp to gain a level). If anyone from Paizo reads this please, please, PLEASE make an AP for the savage worlds system. As good as the APs are for pathfinder, a paizo AP for savage worlds would be AMAZING.

    Scarab Sages

This is me, and we are just beginning with an Inquisitor of Sheylin, a Goblin Alchemist, and I believe a Dwarven Ranger.

    Scarab Sages

I've just started the campaign last saturday, from the French translated version by Black Book Éditions.

I have 5 players around the table, their chartecters are :
Arana Séthi : Elven (f) Witch looking for Haleen (Haleen has been made an elf in my campaign)
Haram Laurelang : Elven (m) Inquisitor of Iomedae, gnoll hunter
Abû Tâlib : Human (m) Fighter (weapon master : Scimitar) reclaiming his roots
Aziliz Hawa : Sylph (f) Rogue, member of the pathfinder society
Asiunnit from Qadira : Human (m) Paladin of Sarenrae, missionary

For those able to read French, I post my summaries here :
    http://www.black-book-editions.fr/forum/index.php?topic=2900

I won't do it in English.

    We started this last Wednesday:

    Ackbar : Half-elf Cleric (Missionary)
Orik : Elf Ranger/Fighter (reclaiming roots)
Aladeen : Halfling Rogue (no campaign trait)
    Al'shadar : Elf Bard/Ranger (Gnoll Hunter)
    Lok'Thule : Half-orc Monk (friend of Haleen)

We are about to start next weekend. I am not using campaign traits, though using some of the ideas of them to help hook the players into the adventure.

Kafeel: Human (m) Paladin of Sarenrae - Sacred Shield Archtype - Orphan of the Battle of Red Hail - mainly a hater of everything Gnoll
Balat: Human (m) Cleric of Sarenrae- Orphan from Qadira who wants to reclaim Katapesh in the name of Sarenrae - unknown parentage but grew up in a temple of Sarenrae
Sayife (Sofie): Human (f) Rogue - worshiper of Irori, looking for anything historical
Mathis Jalisco: Human (m) Sorcerer of Starsoul bloodline - worshipper of Nethys and a member of a merchant house of Nex
Jabari Khalid: Human (m) Magus from Osiriani - mother is a Osiriontologist, partially raised by a Cleric of Nethys and is a worshipper of Nethys - looking how to increase his martial and magical prowless

We started a few weeks ago, and are three sessions in. The PCs just finished reclaiming the monastery, and made it to 2nd level.

    The party:

Jazeal Ezdrubal: LN elf monk/wizard and Pathfinder. His background also says he lost a parent in Kelmarane.

Kumar Mokar: LN human fighter, Gnoll Killer, and brand new host to the moldspeaker.

Ras Falanae: N elf ranger, seeking to reclaim his roots. He has the Desert Runner elf racial trait, and the Desert Child trait, so when he adds Endurance, his saves vs. environmental heat will have an extra +12.

Sith Praven: NG human staff magus, looking for his "sister" Haleen.

Soki: NG human cleric of Sarenrae, and Pathfinder.

We have just finished the first Book, and the current Party is:

Akenaten - Suli Time Oracle from Osirion and a follower of Nethys as well as an aspiring Pathfinder (N-G)
Pandu - An Aasimar Monk (Zen-Archer) from Vudrani. Also the current owner of Tempest (L-N)
Samira - An cynical elven Witch whose Patron is the Demon Lord Aldinach. A fact the Rest of the Party hasn't realized yet. (C-N)
Sardok - Half-Orc Alchemist (Chirurgeon) from Katapesh, whose Bombs are the bane of Pugwampis everywhere (N)
Thork - A dwarfen Barbarian whose Motivation is a) killing Gnolls und b) getting rich (N)

They have just started out in the city of Solku and are running a series of missions to prove to Garavel they are worthy to be hired to retake Kelmarene.

Hakim Fedi - a highly skilled archaeologist bard who is searching for Haleen.

Melaku Selliulerae - a half-elven air elementalist who is learning to master the words of power and has lost his whole family when Kelmarene fell.

Zedric ben Omar - an Osirion Pathfinder Society recruit and cleric of Desna who will most likely delve into the arts of the Spherewalker class.

Mustafa the Fist - a brutish slave-gladiator fighter-monk of the pits who was severely beaten by his master and left to die until Zedric discovered him and convinced Garavel to buy him.

    First Session Last night:

Abu: Human Sandman Bard, follower of Norgorber
Abu was born in Katapesh and quickly found his skills in negotiations leading him to a very lucrative career. His most recent endeavour was the sale of Pesh.

Achmed Jabul-al-Hakim: Human Desert Druid, follower of Gozreh and Nethys(with plans to go Druid/Wizard/Mystic Theurge)
Achmed is a native Katapeshi and has formed a bond with the more arid locales of Katapesh. A former Pesh addict, Achmed is on the road to recovery, though temptation always seems to hound him.

Hakim Mysun: Suli Paladin of Sarenrae
Hakim is a young brash man, unaware of the true nature of his abilities, believing himself to be human. He is a devout Paladin of Sarenrae and seeks to spread her light to the dark corners of the world.

J'Zargo Raja: Catfolk Rogue, follower of Nethys
Having been born on the isle of Jamelray, J'Zargo traveled to Katapesh at a young age and has grown used to the desert climates of Katapesh. He only speaks when necessary and has a great dislike of being splashed or immersed in water.

    Dark Archive

We are done with the first book and at this moment running a few adventures beetween book 1 and 2.

    Emir: Katapeshi paladin of Sarenrae
Wants to spread out the religion in the lands of Kelmarane. Wants to destroy all evil in the region. With a mix of skilled abilities with his bow and scimitar - he makes his job very well.

    Gaoul: Katapeshi cavalier
A proud member from The Order of The Shield. Riding on his loyal camel Hagbard he swings his falchion with great strength.
He has a great love for animals and interest in peace. But with a short temper his way of solving problems quite fast goes into bloodshred.

    Roy: Aasimar cleric of Saranae
A quite mystical and charismatic man. From the beginning he told the group, that Roy is not his true name and his path full of slavery, rich katapeshi nobels, whores, backstappers and alike.
Prefers to talk when problems shows up. He has a great overview on situations and always acts for the groups best result.

    Delsir: Katapeshi abjurator and story-teller
This young wizard is the brother of Haleen. An unsual wizard. He prefers to be in the center of combat swinging his falcata.
When the group is not in danger - he always tells interesting stories.

    Kinju: Catfolk rogue
A former slave. He seeks power at all cost. With a heart beating for revenge on all slave masters, he has a very difficult time in the building of Kelmarane. But the group is very good at making the angry cat keep his weapons concealed.

    Jakiff: Katapeshi ranger
This man might be one of the most clever men in the region. He knows nearly everything about gnolls. Fighting them from a distance due to their great stength and savage way of fighting.
He has a great interest in the arcane and wishes to learn it great powers. (He wants to go arcane archer)
With his position in the behind he always has a great overview of combat. Yelling out orders and making the group fight as a team. This has a very big influence on the outcome of the combats.

Our group is a ragtag band of adventurers that make for a first time GM experience very...interesting

    Ifrit Bard/Paladin of Sarenrae
    Goblin Gunslinger
    Kitsune Ninja
    Gripli Monk
Elven Fighter/Wizard/Rogue (Throwback to the oldschool DnD 1.0)

When we started out, the group consisted of:

Erryou: LE Male gnoll rogue 1. Age: 10. Campaign Trait: Gnoll Killer.

Born in the shadow of Pale Mountain, Erryou's pack was wiped out about 8 years ago, when he was just a whelp. The only detail he remembers is the leader of the attackers, a gnoll wielding a black axe who looms as large as a giant in his memory. Cruelly shaved and scarred, Erryou was sold into slavery and grew up in Dog Town. Garavel hired Erryou for his innate insights into the gnoll mindset and, potentially, as a diplomatic envoy between the Kelmarane Expedition and the village's occupiers, but in fact, Erryou despises his own kind and signed on for the chance to kill as many gnolls as possible.

Hollistan Tropp: CN Male Keleshite human alchemist 1. Age: 16. Campaign Trait: Finding Haleen.

A precocious teenaged anarchist whose love of explosions drew him to the arts of alchemy, Hollistan is a street rat who grew up scrabbling for survival in the markets of Katapesh. He signed on with the Expedition after spending the last of his cash on a seer who told him he would find his missing sister in Kelmarane.

Jaali: NG Male Garundi human cleric of Sarenrae 1. Age: 23. Campaign Trait: Missionary.

A native of Solku, Jaali is as much a diplomat as a priest of the Dawnflower. Jaali joined the Expedition at the last minute as an official representative of the Lambent Citadel.

Khravachripanoval, or as he's better known, Snowflake: LN Male kobold sorcerer (white draconic bloodline) 1. Age: 17. Campaign Trait: Earning Your Freedom.

This white-scaled kobold was born somewhere in Avistan. About a decade ago he was captured by larger folk, who sold him into slavery after discovering his burgeoning sorcerous talents. Passing through Absalom, Okeno, and eventually Katapesh, he found himself in the "menagerie" of unusual creatures (including a pair of ifrit twins, a pseudodragon, a vanara, and other exotic slaves) by a genial but spendthrift master. Pampered, "Snowflake" was seldom called upon to do more than chill his master's drinks, but when the Zephyr Guard came to arrest his master and seize his goods as a result defaulting on massive debts, Snowflake found himself tossed into the far less comfortable clutches of the Pactmasters' government. When Snowflake heard that someone was recruiting "special talents" and promising freedom for accomplishing the mission, he did all he could to maneuver himself to the front of the line. He is still Pactmaster property and wears a shackle around his neck nearing their sigil.

Sabaa Sajid al Najir: LN Male Keleshite ranger 1. Age: 20. Campaign Trait: Gnoll Killer.

A desert badawi from the lands of the Trackless Storm in southeastern Katapesh, Sabaa Sajid joined Garavel's expedition as it traveled west to Solku. Scion of a tribe that considers itself the ancestral foes of the Duenas gnolls, Sabaa Sajid signed on with the Expedition intending to kill many gnolls as a rite of passage and return to his clan as a respected warrior.

Almost halfway through the campaign, the line-up's changed somewhat. I allowed the players to retool their characters slightly after the first book (the range of character options in Pathfinder had grown immensely in the year-and-a-half since we'd started the game), and we'd lost a player.

    Currently...

    Spoiler:

...about 19-20 months of game time have passed and the group is midway through The Jackal's Price.

Erryou: Deceased. (Unavoidable, since the player's work schedule no longer allowed him to join us.) By the end of Howl of the Carrion King, Erryou had discovered that the "giant gnoll" who slew his pack was the Carrion King himself, and Erryou had become a NE rogue 3/barbarian 2. He'd add another level of barbarian before his demise early in House of the Beast, in which he fought the Carrion King to the death. Had he survived, Erryou intended to lay claim to the Maggot Throne for himself, then lead the Carrion Tribes into a bloody war against the Sandstalkers.

Hollistan Tropp: LN male Keleshite human alchemist 7. Age: 18.

Hollistan has long since found his sister Haleen, who's now joined the party. Quickly and easily seduced by Undrella, Hollistan has been drifting away from his initial focus on legitimate business with Father Zastoran at the Infusium into Undrella's black market smuggling operations. He mainly just wants to kick back and live large. Hollistan is on the cusp of multiclassing into master chymist.

Jaali: NG male Garundi human cleric (evangelist) of Sarenrae 7. Age: 25.

Abbot-Protector Jaali has accomplished his initial goal of restoring the temple of Sarenrae in Kelmarane, and is a well-respected voice of the people in Lady Mayor Almah's council of viziers. During Howl of the Carrion King, he successfully rehabilitated Dashki, which helped out in a pinch during House of the Beast. He and Lady Almah confessed their slow-simmering love for each other just before Jaali left for Pale Mountain, and now, a few months later, they announced their engagement just before Jaali set out for Katapesh. Jaali tends to jump to wild theories; currently, he (alone) has expressed the belief that the Scroll of Kakishon might actually contain the deposed warlord Jhavhul.

General Khravachripanoval: LN male kobold sorcerer (white draconic bloodline) 7. Age: 18.

Having earned his freedom, Snowflake traveled the world in the span between Howl of the Carrion King and the Jackal's Price, making a nine-month journey to the Lands of the Linnorm Kings to investigate the origins of his bloodline. (Most of those months were spent en route.)

After returning from Pale Mountain with Thkot Tal's stinger for a trophy, he took Leadership and has started gathering a large entourage around himself. Primary of these folk are his cohort Laetitia, a Taldor-born ex-concubine who serves as his official emissary and agent. (Snowflake himself doesn't have much of a feel for mammalian body language.)

Sabaa Sajid al Najir: LN male Keleshite human cavalier (order of the shield) 1/ranger 6. Age: 22.

After making a name for himself as a Knight-Protector of Kelmarane, Sabaa Sajid decided that rather than return to his clan, he would bring his clan to him. Over the intervening months, he's dispatched a series of messengers to the Trackless Storm, inviting his badawi kinfolk come and enjoy the comforts of Kelmarane while working as Outriders guarding the town's trade route. After returning from Pale Mountain, Sabaa Sajid also decided that he'd had enough of being a scruffy bawadi and sought to reinvent himself as a sophisticated urbanite, multiclassing into cavalier.

Having just made a detour to the Trackless Storm to evade the Sons of Carrion, Sabaa Sajid encountered the remnants of his clan, including his hidebound father Najir al Sahar, who basically disapproves of every decision Sabaa Sajid's made since leaving the desert. Most of all, Najir doesn't like the way his son has sapped the clan's young warriors and their families to the far end of the country, effectively giving the Duenas the run of the place. Najir has commanded his son to "atone" for his deeds by cleansing an accursed oasis known as the Hell of Eternal Thirst.

Sabaa Sajid has also taken Leadership, but his entourage is much smaller than Snowflake's. His cohort is Hollistan's sister Haleen, who needs little introduction. After some initial flirting between them petered out due to Sabaa Sajid's womanizing ways, they've mutually decided that they work best as a professional pair, fighting back-to-back.

    Liberty's Edge

I'll do a new post later with names. We started this to introduce my nieces and nephew to the game. They come and go as their interest dictates.

    They run:
    Kitsune Wizard
    Half-Elf Ranger
Wolf (my nephew is the youngest so he gets an animal to play)

The rest of us are playing and relying on our skills to get through the game as kids don't really think things through all the time.

    We run:

    Ifrit Cleric of Sarenrae
    Dwarf Paladin of Torag (Stonelord)
    Half-Orc Ranger
    Ifrit Sorcerer (Wishcrafter)(Efreeti Bloodline)

I have the sorcerer, the GM really encouraged me to play her. He mentioned genies playing a big part of this and he (plus the others) thought it would be cool to have a wish granting genie on our side of the battle.

We are 3 sessions in, last session the players finished clearing up the Monastery. They consist of :

Beatrice, Aasimar Paladin of Iomedae, looking to establish a presence for Iomedae in the region.

Nadrie, Elven Druid and now Moldspeaker. She hates Gnoll with a passion.

Leyen, Ifrit Rogue, on a quest to find her sister Haleen

"Book", Tiefling Wizard, from the Mwangi Expanse, he's on a quest to learn all the spells he can.
