LJ stands up and wraps her wings around her, both for warmth and to conceal certain effects of being in very cold water.
I think maybe it's time to get out of the water for now.

Nimora laughs and shakes her head.
You landwalkers is funny. One would be thinking you never feeling cold water before.

The cold water is one thing, the ice is much worse.

Maybe it's time for Dunk the Dragon...

JH climbs out of the pool and heads towards AoV.

No cheatin' now...

"My pleasure, ma'am."

Devlyn will take her along one of the game trails that is a nice walk in itself, leading to another one of the springs. Maybe not as big as the main pool, but nice nonetheless.

At Jack's words, he looks back, shakes his head and laughs.
"He just can't leave well enough alone, can he?"

"Well if you insist," Angel says, turning back into a dragon, "no cheating."

Cheater!

JH begins circling the Dragon Angel looking for an opening.

"You said dunk the dragon, not dunk the human," she says laughing.

"Careful Jack, you might hurt yourself!" comes echoing from the woods. ;P

LJ wrinkles her nose and concentrates for a moment. A large gust of wind pushes Angel towards the pond, pulling at her wings as she tries to use them for balance.
You never said there was a limit to how many could play this game, she says with an impish grin. And I was in that water too!

The Exchange

"Actually, we never specified any rules, so I guess this wouldn't be cheating," Angel says as she whips her tail around, knocking JH off his feet and back into the water. The wind, while powerful, doesn't seem enough to move Angel much at all.

LJ laughs. Alright, if I can't get you to the water, then I'll just have to try something else.

She concentrates for a moment and the wind blows a large wave of cold water over Angel.

The Exchange

As the cold water washes over Angel, she smiles. "Silver dragon, remember? Cold doesn't affect me like it does you," she says.

Poor, poor Ethelbert. He didn't wake up today thinking he would become a fashion accessory for two land dwellers... :D

Oh...and, um [splish, splash]:P

JH sits up and spits out water.

Well, that didn't work out the way I hoped.

At least you got a shower, since it looks like you're afraid of the water.

Maybe not, but you're still all wet, she says with a smile.

She calls down a warm wind to dry herself off.

LJ stops as if she is listening to something.
Escuse me, she says pleasantly and walks away from the pool.

Blech - I hate it when the end of day is slammed. I'll have to check back in after the commute - back in an hour! :)

Ethelbert swims about, looking for the mean metal man who used him as a hat

JH jumps out of the pond as the killer octopus circles.

Hey, I gave you two lobsters to make up for that!

The Dalesman wrote:

Or not...looks like I'm out for the night. I'll just assume Devlyn and Allura are indisposed pending any emergencies.

And hopefully Jack can reconcile with Ethelbert before it's too late :)
See everybody on the morrow! :P

Ethelbert tosses empty carcasses of the two lobsers at JH, as if to say ...not NEARLY enough ..

Nimora laughs. I warn you landwalkers about the feeding of the octopus. He is never having enough lobster and he lazy, lazy, lazy. No likes catch them himself. You is going to need many more than two for making him happy.

I luv being happy. I do it all the time.

Is there such a thing as a dire lobster? Bet my hammer could crack that shell. Ethelbert would be in octopus heaven.

Coming back across the sands, somewhat more briskly than on his prior visit, what appears to be the goblin in dishevelled desert robes can be seen returning, on his giant gecko mount...

I is seeing such thing in the deep ocean, but not in this pool. You just having do this hard way, Nimora says, laughing.

How about we feed the hippie to the octopus? Would that work?

The goblin arrives at the edge of the oasis and surveys the scene with some trepidation. He furrows his brow.
Uhhh, have the gypsies got here yet, or is this the wrong place?
There were some gypsies I was supposed to be ambushing.
Or maybe I was supposed to be helping them ambush someone else.
And this desert's silly. You end up riding round and round in circles, over the dunes, and you worry whether they're your own tracks which you're following for the twentieth time or if there's a band of gecko riding brigands out here waiting to tie you up and rob you of your honey and your wife.

There is an audible *BLEH* from the pond

Sounds like Ethelbert has expensive taste. Lobsters only.

The goblin gives an annoyed grunt.

Uggh. I think I must have the wrong oasis. There were supposed to be heroes in these parts trying to save one of their friends from themself.

He turns the gecko around and heads back out into the desert, singing as he goes.

'Angel from the future realm,
Weaving webs of paradox,
Trying fate to overwhelm,
Though your efforts at she mocks.

Riding with a banjo and no hope for a friend,
Riding to the ends of the world,
Riding with the east to the setting of the sun,
Riding with a stranger with a scythe.

Yes the pain it is so hard to bear,
Though you knew it would be there,
Stabbing like a kni-ife through your heart,
Do you tear her wings from her?
Do you let her die her way,
Do you fight yourself or an-nother?

Riding with a banjo and no hope for a friend,
Riding to the ends of the world,
Riding with the east to the setting of the sun,
Riding with a stranger with a scythe.'

Damn it!!!

*Shadows writh and bulge. Oroth steps out carry a severly injured boy. He seems desperate.*
shouting
"I need a healer, quick!!"

"I'm a healer," Allura says as she walks out from the bushes, Taking a look at the boy as the Shadow setts him down, she frowns, "there is nothing wrong with this child."

Back in the Carnival thread, it was mentioned that the child's wounds were healing as soon as they were inflicted.

Wasn't it said several people there didn't notice this?. I have a suggestion. Why not have the child heal before our eyes?

The injured child bleeds copiously from several deep gashes. Rivers of blood flow from the sockets where his eyes once were.

EDIT: Need me to retcon?

Plantjack takes interest.

"Are you mad? I can feel Board Essence around this one. He does not control it, it has little to do with his--its own 'self', but...he is consequential. He has caused something pivotal to happen, but...I feel nothing around him other than that. No soul. Where did you find him?"
/\Perhaps the wounds return partially outside the thread?

*Oroth growls*
"The Carnival of Shadows... I was leaving when they started toturing him. I rescued him and fled, hoping a healer could be found. What do you mean no soul?"
*Oroth shimmers slightly. He does not notice.*
"I will rip that foul cirque down to the ground..."

Plantjack nods, and for an instant his eyes glow pure white.

"I....I....I see."
He seems a bit overwhelmed by something unseen. He stares at Oroth, then seems to nod.
"I think his soul has been rended from his body. It feels...blank. He has caused something very important to happen, though. He stares intensely at Oroth as he says it. "It is a very good thing you got him here, it is possible we can save him. Possible."

"What do you mean, he's done something important? He's in no condition to do anything."

*The eagle watches, and Kaelar causes a cool cloth to float over to the child.*

Plantjack says nothing.

*Oroth glares at VTPJ, but returns his attention to the boy, placing the cloth on his brow.*

*The eagle flies from his perch. But, when he soars over the boy, he lurches upward and fall to the ground, smoke trailing from his feathers. Steam rises from the cloth when it's laid on the boy, then it bursts into flame. When the fire's gone the boy isn't burned.*

*The eagle's form shifts to that of a (clothed) elf. He is covered in minor burns. He shakily sits up.*
"Where did that up-draft come from?"

Shadow Lodge

Where'd everyone go?

I'm here, but all I've got on this thread is an octopus ..

Ethelbert pauses in his search for lobsters to see what all the commotion is

I'm off to bed.

Ditto

Allura wakes and stretches. Looking around, she smiles. "Good morning everyone," she says.
