"Indeed. The secret of the Board Lich is a great burden, and those who learn it are generally expected to use it."

"It's actually not all that bad. You keep your mind and spirit, and gain a fair amount of power. But yes, it is difficult. You must forgo any normal life that you might have had. We only tell those with the least to lose the Secret, but sometimes they make mistakes...."

Frogskin sighs. His cough seems to have cleared up.
"Finally. Now, I must rest. Good night. Or is it good day? This forest is quite darrrr..."
Frogskin falls asleep.

"Sleep well, Frogskin," she whispers.

She turns her attention outwards once more, finding JH and Arielle through the Green. She smiles as she watches them laughing and talking.

The web of the Green infuses LJ's spirit with energy as she casts her perception outwards. As she fine tunes her divination sense it seems as if she is almost walking next to her loved ones.

*Roams into the thread looking for a cheerleader to maul.*

As Arielle and JH travel to the Grove, JH takes his daughter on a short tour of the roots of Yggdrasil, following their path as they wind up to the massive tree. They finally arrive at the surface.

"Ding ding. First Floor, Paradise."

"Arielle, can you sense your mother in Yggdrasil? Try touching the tree trunk."

"Okay, Daddy," Arielle says, smiling. She reaches out and puts both of her hands on Yggdrasil.
"Hello, Mommy."

"Arielle," LJ says, overwhelmed with emotion. She reaches out through Yggdrasil to contact her daughter. "My sweet girl. I am so happy to see you. I am so proud of you."

The stars in Arielle's bag are glowing and there is a distinctive song coming from them.
"I found a lot of the shinies, Mommy. A mean dragon has the rest. I want to get them back soon so I can give you a real hug."

"I want that too, sweetheart, but we have to be careful about the mean dragon. We want you to be safe. Your father and I love you very much and would be very sad if anything bad happened to you."

"Okay. Is it okay if I sit right here by the nice tree so I can stay close to you?"

"Of course that's all right. I'm so happy that you're here. I've missed you so much."

To JH, "Thank you for bringing her here. I just - there aren't words. I love you both so much."

lynora-Jill wrote:

To JH, "Thank you for bringing her here. I just - there aren't words. I love you both so much."

"I love you both as well. Soon. Soon, we shall all be together."

As JH and Arielle get comfortable alongside Yggdrasil a small red squirrel comes runnning up. It runs straight up JH's leg, across his arms, and down the other side. The squirrel begins 'lecturing' JH for being away so long.

After the squirrel has her 'say' she pauses and looks at Arielle. Approaching cautiously she sniffs at her feet, then relaxes and runs up Arielle's leg to get a good look at her face.

"Arielle, this is one of your mom's and my friends. Her name is...her name...I'm not sure."

[Telepathically to all] "You've never asked, Earth Champion. My name is Meg. And no cracks about nutmeg if you please."

Arielle giggles as the squirrel runs up her leg.

"That tickles. Hello Meg."
She whispers to JH, "What's nutmeg?"

LJ laughed. "Nutmeg is a spice sweetheart."
"And I would not make jokes at you expense, Meg. You have been a good friend. And very brave as well."
Her 'voice' is much stronger than before. You would guess it has to do with the proximity of the stars.

Lk hops down as Azuri'ith lands, and stays near a tree where he can stay in the shade.

Azuri'ith and Lk arrive in the Grove. Azuri'ith sets the boy down gently. He can feel his granddaughter's presence strongly here. He smiles. Perhaps they would find a way to make this right after all.

Little Kiba wrote:

He doesn't notice the large wolf that is now watching him and moving closer...

Arielle wrote:

"Hello, Youngling."

[To JH] "This one is too skinny. You should feed her more. Without fur she will be cold."

Jack Hammer wrote:

*Supresses a laugh at the tiny squirell that seems to be scolding JH*

Arielle giggles more. "I don't need fur."

The smile on Lk's face dissappears as he hears something behind. The white wolf is close enough now he can be seen in the shadows.

"Um, not to interupt or anything, but is ther something behind me?"

Arielle looks up.

"Uh-huh. There's a big wolf behind you, but it's okay. He doesn't look mean." She tilts her head. "I think I've seen him before but I'm not sure."

"Oh *weak expletive*."

Lk shifts into a little white wolf and tries to run away... fast. He is easily caught by the larger wolf though, and is pinned to the forest floor.

Arielle looks up at JH. "Are they playing, Daddy, or does my friend need help? I can't tell."

Arielle wrote:

"They're kinda playing. I believe they are family. Listen to the sounds they make. They are different than war sounds."

"We Jacks sometimes play in this manner."

Arielle listens carefully. It does sound different from the sounds she heard from the people fighting in the arena.

"I see. They do look alike."

"But it's always important to remember to be careful during that kind of play, so nobody gets really hurt," LJ adds dryly.

Lk shifts back into his human form, and tries to push the bigger wolf of him,

"Come on, I told you I'm not going back! Your not even sure the portak still works are you?"

The larger wolf shifts, and Kiba is crouched next to Lk, holding him down with a hand.

"And yet, you'll still be going back. If the portal doesn't work, this era's wolves will babysit you." He turns to JH, "I apoligize if he has caused any trouble, and considering the fresh bandage under his shirt, I think he may have."

"Yes dear. You're absolutely right dear."

"See how their fur protects them? Our metal skins protects us Jacks the same way. You, you have people skin. It's soft, and sensitive." he tickles Arielle to prove his point

"No trouble for us, but I think his heart is bigger than his head. He'd make a fine Jack, Kiba."

"He has not caused any trouble. In fact he has been most helpful. He should not have gone off without telling you. But do not be so quick to jump to conclusions. The boy has been helping young Arielle try to restore her mother. I apologize about the bandage. I lost track of him for a while because of other concerns and he did something brave but foolish."

"Thank you... I think. He not about to get a chance though, since this time I'm going to make sure he goes back home."

"I didn't know you were hurt, Lk. You should have said." She stands up and walks over to him, reaching out a hand which glows briefly as she touches him. "Better?" she asks with a sunny smile.

"Oh," Arielle says, looking sad. "That's too bad. I'll miss you Lk. Can he at least come back and visit sometimes?" she asks Kiba.

"I keep telling you I'm not going back! Accept it already and leave me be! You shouldn't have any say in what I do now anyway, since you didn't seem to care a few years ago!"

"Yes, thanks Arielle."

"He really has made friends here then? That's more than he ever did back at the keep." *Sighs* "Fine, he can stay, but he must try to find and talk to me at least once a tenday."

"Hurray!" Arielle says, smiling broadly and clapping her hands in delight. "You don't have to go away after all. But you really shouldn't talk to your Daddy like that. I think you hurt his feelings."

Arielle wrote:

Mostly to himself,

"Who said I think he's my dad?"

Getting up and dusting himself off(again), Lk smiles at Arielle then looks at Kiba.
"Thanks... Dad. I'll be sure to find you, but I don't have to talk to you when I do."
He jumps up to grab a tree limb and is soon near the top and out of hearing range.

Arielle walks back over to Yggdrasil, sitting down next to JH and leaning her head against the tree.
"I don't understand why he seemed so angry."

"Sometimes relationships can be...complicated. Sometimes even family members can get angry and fight with each other."

*sighs*
Guess I'll go back into the forest and hope I don't need to come after him again. Watch over him will you? Goodbye."

Kiba wrote:

"Kiba, is there anything else that we should know? You don't have to tell your history if you don't want to, but it might help a little if we understood why Little Kiba is so angry."

lynora-Jill wrote:

"Tell me about it." Frogskin mumbles. He seems to be going in and out, disappearing for short periods of time and then reappearing for a few seconds. There is a pause as he fades, then he returns.

"Hope the wolves are alright. Looked mad. Hard to tell though."

Kiba stops just before leaving the clearing.

"I wasn't there for him when he was younger."

He seems to slide into the forest, dissapearing without a trace.

The forest branches seem to part to allow Kiba quick egress. A slow voice echoes through his mind

He will become a great champion Kiba, and he will bring you much joy and honor. He will one day understand why you had to do what you did when he was younger. Be there for him when he needs it and let him forge his own path.
