I just read the book. It's a tv show now?

I think Fox made a mini-series about 15 years ago...

I don't think it ever made it to debut stage for television, but I could be wrong.
I take it back. It aired in 1980. I must've seen a rerun.

If I'm not mistaken weren't the Martian Chronicle episodes part of Ray Bradbury Theatre? Also another good sci-fi/fantasy show.

Scarab Sages

In terms of what I am interested in watching these days:

1. Battlestar Galactica (current series)
2. Firefly
3. Buffy (seasons 1-6)
4. Angel(seasons 1-3, 5)
5. Blake's Seven (will this ever be released on DVD?)

In terms of influence on the genre:

1. Star Trek (original)
2. Babylon 5
3. The Prisoner
4. Dr. Who
5. Star Trek Next Generation

Liberty's Edge

1) Firefly
2) Dr. Who
2) X-Files
3) Xena (yes)

Dunno, I asked an older friend of mine if he had seen it and he said years ago. For the life of me I know i've seen it, but it came out 4 years before I was born! I really don't know how it was debuted.

Scarab Sages

My top 5:

5. Star Trek - In order DS9, NG, Original series, Movies, Enterprise
(Yeap - Janeway does not get a mention)
4. Supernatural
3. X Files
2. Dr Who
1. ANGEL! Bloody awesome.

There are some others I am keen on... Fringe is a good show and the first two eps of Dollhouse I like. I am not sure but if Dexter fits I would place at two and push the others back.

EDIT - Legend of the Seeker is a little bit of fun I like watching as well.

Actually, Max Headroom was a pretty cool show. At the time, it could very well have been one of the best Sci-fi shows on the air.

Almost rented this the other day! Mork calling Orsin... OK I have to admit the little wrap up at the end was annoying, but when 3rd Rock did I just got pissed. Whoever would have thought John Lithgow could replace Robin Williams has no idea of humor (even if you figure there are four of them it was still not as good.)

Nanu Nanu!

What is the hardest, hard core Science Fiction you have seen in a TV show or movie?

Prolly Bladerunner, or The Lathe of Heaven. Yeah, The Lathe of Heaven; it was on PBS in the early 80's.

My five:

1)Twilight Zone
2)Star Trek-the original series
3)X-Files
4)Night Stalker (the original one)
5)American Gothic

Scarab Sages

1)Doctor Who
2)Twilight Zone
3)Blake's 7 (especaliy after Blake left)
4)Battlestar Galactica (new)
5)Star Cops

Some of the best Sci-Fi shows are british for some reason.

Dark City.

Top five?

Hmmm...

1. Doctor Who (classic and new)

2. Farscape

3. Sapphire and Steel

4. Star Trek (original series)

5. Lost

Bubbling under would be 'Babylon 5', 'Buffy', 'Blake's Seven' and 'Star Trek: DS9'.

Oh, and I love 'Dark City' too, but I'm not sure about it being 'hard' sf - not that there isn't some serious sf underpinning it, but surely there are 'harder' sf movies out there? '2001: A Space Odyssey' would be an obvious candidate, surely?

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8

My 5

1) Dr. Who
2) Stargate (Both SG-1 and Atlantis)
3) Dark Angel, some of the best designed near future sci-fi I've seen on TV
4) BSG reimaged, some rough spots there, I think the writer's strike hurt them, but I'll watch it again. And not just for nekked Boomers.
5) Tie DS9 (all) Enterprise (final season, except the finale)

Enterprise finally got good when they canceled it. Finally they remembered that there's an entire universe of history to draw on.

  • Euginics wars? Check
  • Soon Legacy? Check
  • Difference in Klingons? Check
  • Mirror Universe, tying into the Tholian Web? Check.
  • Vulcan/Human offspring? Check.
  • Exposition on Vulcan culture w/o being preachy? Check.

Edit: Before I get mobbed by Browncoats, Firefly was wonderful, but too short to know for sure if it would be one of the 'Best' I like Terminator, but didn't include it for that reason. Fair is fair.
