Given that LoF is almost at the end, I'm slighlty worried that we won't see all the sets (creatures+bestiary, such as for issue 19) for the whole AP.
There are many requests for older APs and CoT - with the associated release of PFRPG - is looming at the horizon.
Is a quasi-regular release of sets covering the complete LoF AP planned? Please...

Don't worry, I'll do my darndest to get the sets for LoF out as close to the end of the AP as possible. On my end, I hope to get sets 21 and 22 cranked out over some time off this week, as well as getting the essentially-finished Bestiary set and Callous Jack's set for Darkmoon Vale printed up and uploaded.
A regular schedule will make itself manifest at some point in the horizon. At the moment, though, I'm still juggling the minis art gig with my day job, and sadly, I need my day job (though I might be working something out to free up some time).
The Paper Minis have had a strange, delayed start up, I will admit, and with the limited time available we're going as fast as possible, I assure you. Keep on hangin' on, and I think you'll start seeing a more reliable schedule appear soon enough.

I think paper minis are a great idea. I hate purchasing minis since they are expensive and sometimes it is hard to find the right one. I don't know did anyone ask before, is there a plan to turn this into a product similar to item cards? I hate to cut and construct dozens of these just for a single adventure alone. If they are pre-cut and snap into place, it will be more convenient for the DM to put together. You can market them as single or in decks. I will buy hundreds of them.

Sorry for the WAY delayed reply. It's been... hectic. :P
I've definitely thought about doing something like this, but as a licensee, production costs would be out of pocket, and I wouldn't even know where to start looking to find a way to make pre-cut minis, to say nothing of how to pay for initial production costs. Though I do get all giddy when I think of something akin to those Pirates punch cards from WizKids. That. Would. Be. AWESOME. :P
I've also considered simply doing generic "monster and PC" sets exclusively, as opposed to doing the AP sets. Sales seem better on "generic" figures, and it lets me and my fellow artists have more free reign to whip up all sorts of crazy stuff.
I might start a new thread on that; I'll let you folks know when/if I do.

Oh no! I hope the AP sets aren't going to be replaced with generic sets only. I loved the AP sets.

Hey Mairkurion, just an FYI but the first RotRL set should be up and available next week.
And btw, the Conquest of Bloodsworn Vale set is available now!

Do we have any word on the LoF sets...I really loved them, and are planning on starting running LoF in October (after the Bestiary comes out). But if no more sets are appearing I have a lot of painting of figures in my future....if I can even find appropiate ones.

Sorry about being incommunicado, gang. My life got upended by several events which have yet to fully resolve themselves. Worry not, however; work continues on the sets. I'll be working as much as possible on them over the next few weeks, so hopefully a few sets will hit the market before Christmas.

my group just finished House of the beast and i have no new paper minis to present to them! Any ideas when we might see Jackels Price paper minis?
the halfling bard in my group is using Baby goat as her mini.
They really loved all the different things i had to use and show them for what they were fighting and have already asked what awesome new paper minis i have for the next one.

Obviously nothing new until just now. Sorry for all the delays.
But hey! Hellknights! Delicious, no?

NWah, what are your plans for additional sets? Are you cleared to produce cratures for the bestiary? Email me (email is in my main profile) please.

When possible it would be great to see a 'Spoiler' button with the breakdown of the specific minis included in the earlier sets.
Although the prices are good on the paperminis, I am not a fan of buying blindly.
Specifically I'm looking for some Horse minis. The Paizo staff at GenCon had some in their box for the Delves this year.

Great thread!
Has anyone got any links on some tips or step by step instructions for making paper minis - especially if they get printed out on tougher, more durable card, or even making them to resemble the Beginners Box stands?
Hi KestlerGunner, thanks for your interest! Here's the link to the free pdf on paper mini instructions. I also posted a link in that same thread (the last post) of someone on Paizo who actually did recreate the look of the BB minis.

I've seen you guys have been making headway on the AP minis. I thought I'd throw a suggestion at ya for another set that would be handy.
Summons. A set of minis that has the various summons in it would be awesome, as its quite hard to find many of the monsters that are summonable, and paper minis would be much easier for PC summoners to haul around than plastic/metal. Anyway, thought I'd throw that out there.

A humble suggestion:
With the new focus on Tian Xia and the release of the Dragon Empires Gazeteer, as well as the forthcoming Advanced Race Guide, there are a lot of PC-capable races becoming available. However, it's very difficult to find minis for these races.
I think a great idea would be a collection of PC (and NPC) minis using the new races. For example, some of what I would like to see would be:
- Male and female versions of Kitsune, Nagaji, Samsarans, Tengu, and Wayangs, each in the four basic roles (Fighter, Wizard, Cleric, Rogue).
- A few different minis using the less-common PC races already available (Aasimars, Oreads, Dhampir, etc.)
- Some additional variants for roles common to each race (a couple more Wayang rogues or sorcerer-types, a few different Tengu bandits, and so forth).
- A couple of miscellaneous minis to fill out the set, such as foxes (for the Kitsune in fox shape).
I would gladly pay for a set like this!

Hi to the Paper Mini Crew...I love this product, and have now made up 8 of the sets. I have some feedback and one question:
1. From a construction perspective, it is great if the miniatures are lined up so that you can score and glue an entire row at once, see the RotRL sets for a good example of this.
2. It is really nice to have the name of the figure on the base, otherwise I find myself cutting out the name and glueing it on the base, a messy process, see the Serpent's Skull for a good example of this.
And the question....are we ever going to see the remainder of the LoF Sets??

I'm glad you like the sets, sanwah68. Thank you for the feedback! Have you had a chance to use the minis yet?

If that is something more of you would like to see, let me know. I wasn't sure if anyone cared one way or another.

This is a Liz question...

I spent a couple of hours on the weekend putting together some of my older RotRL, Hellknight and Bloodsworn Vale paper minis with my son, and was inspired to see what I could use for my upcoming Carrion Crown game. I have some good skeletons, zombies, a few ghosts, vampire spawn, ghouls etc from some of the CotCT sets and the first two Serpent Skull sets ... can anyone recommend a good set for flesh golems and / or werewolves?
Or better still ... Callous Jack, get to work on a Carrion Crown set!

I personally like having the names on the bases. Most of the monsters ad pretty obvious, but for the NPCs, it's helpful to have the name there.

I am currently running Legacy of Fire and have just started the The Jackal's Price, hence the LoF question. That said, my husband is running Serpent's Skull and is really loving the paper figures I made for him. It is great to have a figure for every encountered person/monster.
I have also made RotRL set for another DM, just starting up on Saturday.
The RotRL set was a lot quicker to make due to the ability to score and glue them in bunches, unlike the Serpent's Skull set which had to be done individually. This in no way means that I don't like either set, it is an observation for your consideration.
Edit: and, as Mothman put it so eloquently...Callous Jack, get to work on a Carrion Crown set!

I am working on a new AP but I can't say what though, gninjas are out and about, y'know...

Good point.
6 APs? Wow, you are hardcore. ;-)
Wow...
By the way Mothman, I can't help you with flesh golems or werewolves. I don't think we've done anything to cover those. The only things I can think of are the carrion golems from the Crimson Throne bestiary (not really useful in this case) and the Scarecrow golem from Skinsaw Men.
And hey, does anyone have the Rune Giants or the Shemhazian put together? I'd love to see a pic of that!
Mothman |
I was thinking of using the more humanoid looking carrion golem from 7 Days to the Grave for a flesh golem and the wererats from same as stand ins for werewolves ... at least until you let us know what AP set you are working on ... shifty eyes
Haven't put together the rune giant or the shemhazian as yet, I might make it my weekend project if I have time. I'd like to see the tarn worm or that equally BIG ugly undead thing from the Skeletons of Scarwall set ...

That works. You know, one of the Kreeg Ogres might work in a pinch too.

Kleestad! I had to go check, I forgot about him. The Cindermaw would be neat to see too.

Hey Jack, I put together some more minis on the weekend, including the Rune Giant and Shemhazian from the RotRL bestiary. Pictured here with a medium sized revenant for scale.

Mwahahahah! Thanks Mothman, that is really cool to see. I'm glad you put the little mini in, it's good to see a how they size up to a PC.
Thanks again!Mothman |
No worries Jack.
It was a bit of a challenge to put the Rune Giant together, being over two pages - given that the paper I printed it too was really thick (or rather I used 4 layers of paper laminated together as I couldn't print to cardstock) is was quite difficult to get the two halves aligned. I think next time I do one of this size I will glue or stick the two pages together along the fold line so that I can actually fold it in half ... which is probably the way it was meant to be done ...

With the re-release of Rise of the Runelords coming next month, I have a couple of thoughts about how Paper Minis can best support the re-release of the Adventure Path.
Obviously, the Paper Minis line already has minis for everything that was originally in the AP. It would be great if you could update the existing products with any monsters that were added as part of the rework. It might make sense to make this an add-on similar to the Bestiary pdf, or you could add pages to the existing documents.
People who are gearing up to run the whole AP might appreciate a single bundle to go along with the single-volume re-release that just collects all of the RotR paper minis products into a single download. I don't know how necessary that would be, but it might make sense for some people.
Finally, two new products (using the existing minis) that might be attractive:
1) A Rise of the Runelords Pathfinder Battles Companion product. This would consist of Paper Minis for all of the monsters that are *not* included in the Pathfinder Battles prepainted minis sets.
2) A Rise of the Runelords Pawn Companion. This would be the same as above, but would have paper minis for the monsters that are not included in the Pawn set.
What do you think?

Greetings, fellow travellers.
I'd totally forgotten about this thread, but here it is again.
Just wanted to chime in, that one of the really good jobs the Paper Minis series are achieving is giving you as GM a complete set of all the monsters in the APs!
But rather than having a mix of 3D and 2D monsters on the grid, I'd actually prefer having a complete set of either 2D or 3D (and it seems the 2D paper versions are going to be available faster and for a cheaper price, too).
I was rather disappointed to see, that the pawn sets is missing some of the monsters and am fully counting on a complete set of Paper Minis from one of the superb artists having been engaged in the previous sets.
Then again, I'd rather have a complete set of Kingmaker paper minis before a redesigned RotRL sets (sorry, coulnd't resist).
Ruyan.

Tamago, my plan is to add any new creatures that are in the anniversary compilation of Rise of the Runelords to the existing PDFs.
As for future Adventure Paths, I already have an artist lined up for Shattered Star. For past Adventure Paths, the Legacy of Fire Adventure Path is coming out of some troubles (huzzah!), and Crystal is busily working on the Kingmaker sets. Her lizardfolk look amazing, and I hope you'll feel that they were worth the wait!
That being said, I am always looking for artists willing to commit to a production schedule for the Paper Minis. So if you know of any...please have them send me an email! :D
