Nah. But I will get the cleric ready. ~WEG~ Besides, that will alow me to funnel info into the group through the NPC.

Perhaps a cowardly cleric would do.

If you still have a spot, I'd be interested - and I could bite the cleric bullet if needed.

My character is a Human Diviner, he's banned evocation, has a bat familiar, max ranks in concentration, decipher script, know(arcana), know(dungeon), know(planes), listen, spellcraft. He's taken improved initiative and spell focus (conj). And in his spellbook he has: identify, mage armour, shield, grease, sleep, ray of enfeeblement, and enlarge person. His stats are: Str 10, Dex 14, Con 14, Int 18, Wis 12, Cha 8

Up to you, Shisumo. However, one way or another my arrogant, cowardly, bootlicking LE Cleric will be showing up. But if you want to play a cleric, then go for it! However, he could be a contact for you all, so having a PC cleric might also work. OTOH, if no one wants to play one, then he will be a childhood friend that hangs around the "stronger" PCs for protection.

Sweet! Good job! Once I have an area that this monster will go, then I want a backstory from everyone!

Oh, I will be working on getting everything ready so we can start sometime next week. Christmas and being On Call this week is the only reason why I will not be ready earlier.

Jason,

Why spell focus in conjuration for a diviner?

Sharoth,

We'll have to take an evil cleric with us? Why would we want one? (It's looking like the spell thief is coming in as chaotic good. Should I rewrite that?)

Shisumo,

It appears so.

Oh, he could be LN. Just a top of my head thing.

Shisumo, if that is what you want to play, then go for it.

lol, to make his conjuration spells harder to resist :)
It's not just conjuration, but other spells too, i plan on taking at least one more spell focus.. and as far as i can tell, i wont be using any divinations that acually have a save..

Edit: had i known previously about the house rule where the specialist only banns one school, no matter what.. i would have picked conjurer.. but i said diviner, so i'll play diviner

I can divine that! ~grins~ Well, it appears that the print version has yet to show up. Time to download the PDF and start looking through the Pathfinder Campaign guide for a nice place to call home.

Until we actually start the game, I feel that all things are fluid, so if you want to make him CG, then go for it.

I talked to one of my friends and asked if I could borrow some of his books. since he is into the Vampire / Werewolf stuff by White Wolf, he said sure. I also ordered a few books as well. Here is the list of stuff that can be used.

All the Pathfinder books. I have them all.
Players Handbook
PH II *
Psionics Handbook 3.5
Unearthed Arcana
Dragon Magazine Compendiumn
Complete Warrior
Complete Mage
Complete Divine
Complete Adventurer *
Complete Scoundrel *
Complete Arcane
Complete Psionic

All the Eberron Books, but ask first and have a good reason for using them.
A lot of Dragon Magazines that can be used if needed.
And several other books. If you have a favorite, ask and I will see if I can get it.

* = Books that are on the way. Use them, but know that I do nto have them yet.

Chris Mortika wrote:

Hi, Zeugma. Great to have you. I don't think we have any idea where we are in Golarion, so Isger sounds as good as anywhere else.

All right, folks, this is what I've got so far.

  • For the time being, I'm looking at the Spell Thief from Complete Adventurer. I've never played one before (or played in a party with one before) and I'd like to see how they work.
  • In a party with a Wizard, a Spell Thief can serve as a scout, with a little extra oomph of magic here and there. This is a Dungeon Delving campaign, so I want to make sure the party has a good trap spotter/disabler.
  • With a 32-point buy, I'm looking at Strength 10, Dexterity 16, Constitution 14, Intelligence 14, Wisdom 10, Charisma 14.
  • For skills, I'm thinking he needs to keep Search, Open Lock, Disable Device and Appraise at high levels. Probably Tumble, too. He has a pretty good Charisma, so he could take skills like Bluff and Gather Information. Or would Hide and Move Silently be better? Or Use Magic Device?
  • Suggestions for Feats?
  • Suggestions for races? If he takes Hide and Move Silently, it would be great to have Darkvision, but the dwarven penalty to Charisma and the Half-Orc penalty to, well, most things, don't mesh well with an underground trapsmith.

If I remeber that a certain type of Halflings have darkvision. If needed, I can always drop a ring of Darkvision 60' if we need it.

Male Silver Dragon

I was thinking of Varisia, Nirmathas / Lastwall, or Taldor to hold this monster. ~grins~ Any thoughts as to a request? The main adventure takes place at / in a mountain, so that limits some locations.

Edit - Grumbles. The Complete Adventurer / scundrel will be delayed slightly. Go ahead and use it. I will see if any of my friends have the Complete Adventurer, plus I have read through it so I know what to expect. No worries. ~grumbles~ darn Credit Cards!

Chris - what about the gnome or halfling from Races of Stone? Whisper Gnome(?)

Sharoth - do you have Races of Stone?

Male Silver Dragon

I do have the advanced players handbook up in a box in the attic. ~goes to pull it out and bring it down~ I will check out mindshadows. As for Races of stone, I don't have it, but if someone can send me an e-mail with the info, then I will think on alowing it. How about sending the two of us the info, fray?

As for Psionics, I say go for it. I figure that we can give it a try and if it doesn't work out, then a wierd wish gone awry can do some "changes"! ~WEG~

Male Silver Dragon

Gah! How did I get so much junk, errrr, books? Yes, I have Mindscapes, Mindshadows, and Monsters of the Mind. If you wnat to use them, then I am game for giving them a trial run.

P.S. - I pretty much bought almost everything that was going on in the Green Ronin sale earlier this year, so if they made it and put it on sale, chances are that I have it.

Hey, if theres still room here, I think this'd be interesting. I usually DM my groups both on the tabletop and online, so it would be a refreshing change. Also I'm interested to see how this module plays out. I'm thinking of perhaps playing an Enlightened Fist (Monk/Sorc) or Rage Mage (Barb/Wiz). Are these classes a bit "out there" for the game or should it be ok?

Thanks for the spot! Don't worry about the rage mage then, I'm more than happy with the Fist. As a quick question for my fellow players, would it be better for me to start with spellcaster or monk at 1st level? I'm a little shabby on the party composition, and I don't know anything about the Green Ronin classes. What roles do we need more?

I am glad that we could have you join us. As for the books, I am mainly going with WotC books, but am open to other books. The Psionics books are a lure, since I too wanted to try them out. As for the Green Ronin sale, check out here ! I have most of these books, so if you want to use one of them, just ask. But if you do, please try and get a copy for yourself too, so we are on the same page.

Male Silver Dragon

Also, please read Turin the Mad's intro as well. He did such a good job that I just have to steal the basics of what he did with his campaign intro and alter it to fit mine, but the gyst of it still comes across perfectly. What he is doing is giving everyone some basic tips to survive until you all learn how to operate as a group. Learn them, since the monsters are not all stupid. ~grins~

I will also be adding a few house rules as well, but I will not get to those until this weekend. Hollidays and all.

Download the Second darkness players guide and pick a trait. Everyone gets one free trait as well as a bonus 2 skill points + 1 per level that go only in profession, craft, or perform.

Jason is playing the wizard so you might consult with him to make sure your spell lists are diverse.

I'm playing a two-flail fighter from Isger. if you want to play a monk from there, there's an intersting feat you could take, if it fits in with your concept of your character (PFCS pg. 83)

Ah. I am sadly short a campaign setting, so I might have to pass on that feat until I pick up a copy. I'll definitely look into it though.

Seeing as we already have a wizard, I think I might start with a monk level, despite 1st level spells being harder to use at later levels.

Male Silver Dragon

I jsut made up my mind as to where this will take place. In Molthune, near the border of Isger. Canorate is the nearest City that is on the map. Please refer to the PF Campaign setting, page 102 - 103 for more details. Also, if at all possible, can we make everyone good or at least neutral? It makes my job a bit easier. ~grumbles~ Damn, but I am having a lot of typoes today.

Halflings have darkvision?
Do the bonus 2 skill points get quadrupled at first level?
How are you running +1 EL races?

fray

Thank you for the suggestion, but Whisper Gnome is not for me.

Generally speaking

Is my character's Charisma 14 looking to be the high Charisma of the group? Should he take some of those "social graces" skills?

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

Grr. Just missed the time limit on editing.

EDIT: I was looking through the "Races" books, and found what I'm looking for in Races of Destiny: The Underfolk.

Underfolk are humanoids (human subtype), descendants of humans who were forced to live underground. Typically chalk-white, they have darkvision and light sensitivity. Shy and reclusive, they are viewed by dwarves as primitive and barbaric.

They have humanity's extra skill points, but not the bonus feat. +2 Racial bonus on Listen checks. Weapon Familiarity with picks. Camouflage ability to hide (+4 to hide, +10 in rocky terrain).

Sharoth, what would we need to do to make this race work well?

Is that the race you would like to play? Then you would have to send me an e-mail with the race description and then have a GOOD backstory as to why this person is away from his (or her) home.

As for the halflings, there was something in 1e or 2e about some of them having 60' darkvision. I personally have no major objection to a halfling having it.

As for the extra still pts at creation... I would say that no, they don't get quadrupled. They are more for flavor than anything. What +1 EL race do you want? I tend to prefer if they were not used, but I am open to it.

I'm going to go with a Psychic then. (it's in both Advanced Player's Guide and the Psychic's Handbook - both from Green Ronin)
I was thinking psionics but I have read The Psychic class and I am already familiar with it. The Psionics book is a bit much for me to read right now and get familiar with it. The Psychic is basically a skill based psionic class.

Are we going to try and have our group start with knowing each other and something in common? (I'd like to try that.)

I'll most likely be Chaotic Good. (I'm not too keen on playing an evil character.)

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

So, at this point, we have

Jason --- [Character name] -- Human Wizard (Diviner)
Chris --- [Brother Seamus] -- Underfolk url="http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20050107a&page=1"]Spel l Thief[/url]
fray ---- [not aitch] -- [race] Psychic
Zeugma -- [Character name] -- Human Fighter
Shisumo - [Merian Brenvalla] -- Human Favored Soul of Iomedae
W. Bard - [Character name] -- [race] Enlightened Fist

It looks like we have a front-line fighter, a couple of secondary fighters, a single divine caster (who can't spontaneously convert to healing spells). We look a little weak on straight-up mundane fighting to me, and a little dependent on magic and psionics in ranged combat.

I'll take Bluff and Gather Information, but we might want someone else better at Diplomacy.
