Heresy! Do not speak of the mustard-based abomination from NC's slightly touched in the head sibling!

Speaking from a NC perspective, there's BBQ which is vinegar based, pulled pork. Everything else can be good, but it requires a hyphenated name like Kansas City-BBQ or SC mustard-BBQ, or Texas beef brisket-BBQ*, or grilling which yankees** call BBQ out of ignorance.

*though I have some friends from Texas who have treated me to the Texas variety of beef brisket bbq, and it's damn yummy, but it still requires differentiation

**and I say that with some irony since I'm originally from NJ.

Well, there are many ways to bbq food, and each is different from each other's. Some barely qualify, some its in the technique, and some its in the sauce. Being from KC, I love KC bbq, both for the style (slow-smoked) and the sauce (sweet). And Bon Appetit still calls KC bbq the best every year! :P

The other armpit of America.

It's cool here, only 32F. I'm constantly amazed by all the people bundled up. I spent 3 winters in my youth in North Dakota. My favorite place to have lived!

Its cool here as well. In the mid-30's at the moment. We actually had FOG a few days ago. I live in the desert. Deserts don't have fog...

I spent a few winters myself in much colder climates. Colorado, high on the western slope. Beautiful place, but very very cold.

I live in tropical Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Rocky (local talk) offically has the tropic of Capricorn running through it and is found in land off the Central Queensland coast.

It is hot here... always hot. Nice in winter.

Thats just the edge of the desert my friend. Try spending a summer in the deep desert. I guarantee you will melt. I did. And still do every year... Frickin' 128 degrees f. in shade... *grumble grumble....

Houston, Texas, where today it is 73 degF. Has been all week. Last week it was in the low 40's, except on days when it wasn't and it was in the low 70's. The week before that we had snow for a day and then two days later it was in the 80's.

So yeah, we have some variability in our weather here.

Oh, and that's TEXAS where barbeque was born, using beef. Everything else is just a variation or adaptation. Except that mustard-based stuff - that's a vile deviation pure and simple.

;)
