The Contest is Underway!!!

RPG Superstar™ 2009 General Discussion

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

Good luck to all who enter! We are officially underway.

This was an awesome contest last year. I guarantee you will get something out of the process of writing and creation even if you dont make the top 32. So please give it a shot!

I look forward to reviewing all the submissions!

Clark

Well, all I can say is good luck to you three! How much coffee and pizza shall we be sending your way? ~grins~

P.S. - Maybe next year I will enter. ~shrugs~ Who knows.

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

Lots of both, please.

And as for entering, you really should do it this year. This is a great contest. I cant tell you how valuable I think it is for people. Look at the situation--this is a Pathfinder-centric RPG Superstar. Paizo is just about to really launch Pathfinder soon. You can really get in on the ground floor. And you dont even have to win the thing. I'm pretty sure a good number of the top finishers have gotten some writing work as a result. So what better time to get in at the beginning than right now? None! So enter. What do you have to lose? Seriously? Nothing. So enter!

You still have plenty of time, Sharoth, as the first round doesn't close, for a fair amount of time. :D

I've been working on a 2 items over the last several days, and I've remembered the most frustrating part of round 1 last year..........
200 words!@?%$?#
A lousy, stinkin' 200 words? *in best Scarface voice*
Say hello to my little entry!

Sigh....I know the judges are buried, but for RPG Superstar 2010, how about 250????

200 is actually plenty for a decent magic item, even thought it doesn't seem that way. Paizo books average 750-1000 words per page. Looking at Gods and Magic, the non-artifact items are running 5 to a page, so 150-200 words for a typical item. If you run that word count up, you're getting less magic items for your gaming dollar.

I know it can be a pain to get the word count down, but think of it as practice for a real writing assignment.

Everything you say is logical, fair, and true...Can I still whine anyway?

Marathon Voter Season 9

My longest item hits 200 words exactly and i personally feel its background suffers slightly as a result. But hey, what are you gunna do?

I will do my best this year, too. Knowing my faults last year, I have hopes to avoid them this time around and advance! Good luck to everyone.

~grins~ The problem isn't the time, which I have enough of. It it the energy. ~shrugs~ I have enough going on right now to keep me busy. Hopefully next year will be a bit calmer. However, thanks for the encouragement.

My feelings exactly. All the items I wrote for last years and this years entry have been around 150 words before editting.

Well, after much encouragement from my best friend, I am going to enter this year's RPG Superstar and as my fortune cookie advised me "Don't be afraid of competition" which I am certain will be fierce.

I feel confident about the wondrous item I have created, but before I submit it, am I going to have one of my friends look it over and get his opinion (as I value his thoughts greatly) and then I'm all in.

Good Luck to us all.

Good job!

Give it a shot. It is a great experience and a great process.

There is always room for one more great item!

I look forward to reviewing your submission.
