[TOOL] TOS+ v2.00 with PF RPG support!

General Discussion (Prerelease)

The Only Sheet Plus, one of the most powerful automated Character Sheets available for the 3.5 community has now been adapted to support the rules of PF RPG (Beta)! TOS+ Version 2.00 allows users to easily create and maintain Characters using this excellent new Role Playing Game.
A few of the main features:

A Demo version is available in the Download section of the Homepage where you can also see the extensive release notes for v2.00.

Happy gaming!

Is this usable after the 1yr subscription is over?

Sounds great, for a GM, bit expensive for players...

Yes, the workbook will function as long as your PC/Excel does.

Many people extend their subscription passed the yearly mark because of all the goodies that comes from such a low priced tool/subscription ($1.88 per month....)

With an active subscription you have:
-> Access to free updates (check this link to view previous updates)
-> Access to community shared content (hundreds of shared files)
-> Technical support
-> Access to Play-by-post games

I'd like to think TOS+ is as useful for Players as it is for Game Masters.

Um...just out of curiosity, do you work for these guys?

OK great, thanks for the info, sounds like a good investment for me as a Pathfinder DM, I could keep track of all my players cahracters at once with this.

No, why? (I did ask M. Vic Wertz permission to post this, in case you are wondering. Since they don't have their license yet, I cannot use the Trademarked name, as discussed in another thread. M. Werts suggested I use "PF RPG" in the mean time...)

Yes, and you might find errors in their pen&paper versions :)

On a side note, one forum user created a Dungeon Master sheet to handle multiple players with TOS+ (i.e. subscribed Players send the DM their characters). I don't recall if he made it compatible with TOS+ v2 though. I'll have to ask him. His tool is discussed here.

I have been a TOS/TOS+ user for years now. I have tried paper and pencil versions of my games, and I have always found that when I bring a laptop with TOS+ on it to game, and everyone else is trying to figure out their bonuses when they have four spells cast on them, and three rounds later, say, "Oh, I forgot about my synergy from ..." I always find that my characters are more prepared. I don't have to worry about number crunching. I can actually roleplay. When the DM has me make a roll, I just roll. I don't have to sit there calculating the circumstance bonuses. Everything and anything that affects my character is built in to the sheet. Every spell. Every feat. Every class. Every item. It is all done for me. If it is not open source, it can be added (and likely someone has already done the work and has posted a file that you can copy and paste or even load right into the sheet). I have never found a more useful piece of software for gaming. I have tried many other character sheets, and TOS+ is by far and away the most useful of them all. Even when I want to print out my character sheet, it is more useful! I just put the sheet in a clear plastic cover and bring wet erase markers. The sheet automatically generates checkmarks for almost everything, including hit points. I just check off my lost hit points, and I can calculate exactly how many I have left. When I regain spells or hit points, I erase the mark, and voila! Everything is back! I never have smudge marks or mess on my sheets. I never have to try to figure out what the sheet says. Everything is clear and easy. It is all roleplaying.

The OGL's prohibition against using other trademarks to indicate compatibility also precludes you from using "Paizo" (our trademark) or "D&D" (Wizards' trademark), I'm afraid. (I mention the latter merely for informational purposes; it's not my job to protect their trademarks.)

I used the original TOS a couple of years ago, and just recently signed up for the TOS+ because of the support for 'the new role playing game'.

It's worth every penny. Very easy to use. Because of the design, you can add in custom equipment, weapons, feats, just about anything. The support on the website forums is also top notch.

I received an answer from patransom, the creator of the Dungeon Master Tool for TOS+. Here is his reply:

patransom wrote:
Yep, it should work fine with PF RPG. There's a separate search-spot-listen page that uses the PF RPG version of the skills. Everything else should work exactly the same.

So there we go!

TOS+ v2.01 has been released, with a few bugfixes.
* The Combat Trick Rogue (P) Talent was granting 2 bonus feats instead of 1
* Feat selected for the Combat Trick Rogue (P) Talent was not displayed in the INFO section
* Disable Device was using INT instead of DEX in PF RPG (yep, it's different than D&D3.5!)

Happy gaming!

Just wondering if you can use OpenOffice instead of Excel. And will OpenOffice on a Mac run it.

I really don't feel like putting out at least $60 just to get a copy of MS Office 2000 on Ebay, then pay $22.50 a year for a character sheet.

I would also rather run it on my Mac rather than my crappy PC.

Krome wrote:

Alas, TOS+ does not function on the Mac (it is too compex for Excel Mac to handle - weird, but Excel Mac is not 100% compatible with Excel Windows). It is even worst with the 'free' spreadsheet applications.

The Exchange

I was using TOS for quite a long time years ago and that was great to use. I fell out of play for a long while, but found time to get back into gaming. I went hunting down My TOS copy (Years pass and computers change) and opened it to create a character. I saw the update button and clicked it to see what updates there were.

Holy cow! Not only did I buy TOS+, but I'm now effectively near having a life subscription on the forums there. What is it Richard, 2022 that my sub ends? I don't mind contributing to a project that just keeps improving and evolving.

When Richard took on the task of developing and deploying TOS+ 2.00 (now 2.02) as a means of incorporating Pathfinders Rule Set I had no doubt Richard was going the right direction. I think Pathfinder has definitely taken D&D the direction another company should have gone and with TOS+ following the same thinking, I can only see good things ahead for both.

Richard, I've been actively using pat's DM Spreadsheet for the Rise of the Runelords: Burnt Offerings PbP on your forum and have had no problem at all with it. All you do is download the DM Sheet (free) and load each character to it and you have everything right there for fast and easy reference.

It's awesome.

I bought TOS a while ago and I never got it to work... It would not let me enter my personal key at all so I couldn't use the sheet.

I think his comment about free spreadsheet applications might have been cross-platform.

Papa.DRB, this is from the main webpage for TOS:

1 The Only Sheet is created using Microsoft Excel 2003 on Windows. It may not work on older versions of Excel or non-Windows systems. It is NOT compatible with other spreadsheets applications. TOS+ REQUIRES the very latest Excel service pack from Microsoft!

Hope this helps!

TOS (as opposed to TOS+) has been renamed 'TOS FREE' and can be downloaded form the Home Page - and it does not require activation. Note that unlike TOS+, TOS FREE is exclusively for D&D3.5

Active subscribers to TOS+ can peruse the community Forum to get free technical support for issues they might have... There are a lot of people using TOS+, so I am sure your issue was not caused by the Sheet (I'd get swamped with emails if I released a defective product)

Papa-DRB wrote:

Like I said, TOS+ does not even function on the Macintosh version of Excel... TOS+ pushes the envelope too much to work correctly on anything else than Excel on Windows - and even so, Excel needs to be patched to the latest service release, as un-patched Excels have critical bugs!

Cheers!

Well, I paid and it was a few months ago so I assume I have TOS+. What do I need to do to get the right sheet or whatever I need.

  • Fixed the description of the Color Spray spell
  • Reduced the length of the Protection from ... spells to take less space on the LapTop worksheet
  • Divine Power was missing the ? symbol (to get the yellow input box on the LapTop worksheet)

Remember that the DEMO version is an incomplete version (with reduced functionality). The Video section on the homepage can also give you a fairly good idea of how powerful and dynamic TOS+ is...

The Spells selection list in the Spell Planners is now Dynamic:

  • All Custom spells will now be included in the Dynamic List for the caster
  • All spells will be shown in alphabetical order, including custom Spells

  • You are Cowering, Dazed, Dead, Dying, Fascinated, Helpless, Nauseated, Paralyzed, Petrified, Stunned, Unconscious
  • Added the No Actions effect
  • Added the No Full Action effect[/list]

  • In PF RPG, races with racial hit dice were unable to get maximum skill points
  • In PF RPG, The number of Skill Points available to a race with more than 1 HD was incorrect
  • The Action Points check marks would cause invalid text if the Action Points were hidden
  • The Vampiric Touch spell was missing the 10d6 maximum damage
  • The Weapon Finesse text appearing above the weapon slots had a glitch
  • Fixed missing commas in the Skills section on the Stats worksheet
