[Sorcerer] Doomed Bloodline

Hmmm, for all those who felt their ancestry was what held them back rather than giving them special powers I offer a new, and much less useful, bloodline.

Doomed

Your family is destined for great failure in some way. Your unfortunate birth could have been warned of in prophecy, or perhaps it occurred during an especially apocalyptic event, such as an earthquake. Regardless of your bloodline’s origin, you have a tragic future ahead of you.

Class Skill: Knowledge (history).
Bonus Spells: ???
Bonus Feats: ???

Bloodline Powers: You are destined for tragicomedy, and the powers that you gain serve to undermine you and lead you towards your inevitable doom.

Touch of Doom (Su): Starting at 1st level, when a creature makes a touch attack against you it gains a bonus to a single attack roll, skill check, ability check, or saving throw equal to half your caster level (minimum +1). This bonus lasts 3 rounds or until it is used. Once the creature has benefited from touch of doom, it can gain no further benefit from this ability for 1 day unless the DM says so.

Doomed I Tell You (Su): Starting at 3rd level, you gain a -1 luck penalty on all of your saving throws during surprise rounds or if you are otherwise unaware of the attack. At 7th level and every four levels thereafter, this penalty increases by -2, to a maximum -5 at 19th level.

It Was NEVER Meant To Be (Su): At 9th level, you must reroll any successful critical hit confirmation rolls or level checks made to overcome spell resistance. You must take the second result, especially if it is worse.

Always Out of Reach (Su): At 15th level, your ultimate destiny is drawing near. Once per day, when an attack or spell that causes damage would result in your death fails, you must attempt a DC 20 Will save. If unsuccessful, the attack succeeds instead.

Doom Realized (Su): At 20th level, your moment of tragedy is at hand. Any critical threats made against you are automatically confirmed. Any critical threats you score automatically fail to be confirmed. Once per day, you automatically fail at one caster level check made to overcome spell resistance. The DM decides when to use this after you have made the roll.

I don't see this working out. Why would having a terrible future give you the ability to cast arcane spells? Don't get me wrong, "Destined" doesn't make much more sense, but still...

If I'm reading between the lines correctly, there is a dose of irony/humour involved.

Yeah, I'm thinking of a totally comic character. Not for serious play.

Silver Crusade

This bloodline only works if the character repeatedly crosses paths with a crazy guy named Ralph who rides a bicycle past the character and proclaims to the character, "You're Doomed!" And then promptly rides off a cliff, into the path of a charging Oliphant, or into the waiting maw of the Tarrasque. He subsequently reappears later, slightly worse for wear, to repeat his declaration of "You're Doomed!", before falling victim to another calamity.

Yep, this reference is more obscure than Moscow on the Hudson...

Yogo?

I know at least one RPG, probably several, who had something like that as a disadvantage you could get.

The old Vampire had somehting like this. It basically doomed you. You were destined to find a tragic end, at the ST's discretion.

Of course, in those games, you get some extra points for character generation out of this.

I dont know if that would be hilarous or really freaking creepy

Silver Crusade

Good work, Tarren. It gave me a chuckle.

Then again, imagine using these powers against an opponent..such as with a hexblade or warlock?

If you've ever seen the movie I'm referencing, you would probably side with hilarious.
