I think the BBC specials run about a year ahead of what we are getting here in the U.S. and Canada. If so then we have this to look forward to some time next year. There is also a special episode between the two parter with the Master and the one with the Space Ship Titanic that had Tennent encounter an earlier version of the Doctor. To my knowledge, it has not run in North America either.

Uh...I watch them when they come out on BBC, so I'm up to date.

Gottcha. The closest I have is BBC America and they are even behind the Sci-Fi channel.

There was a 5 minute "Children in Need Special" last year called Time Crash that is set right before the Christmas Special. In it, David Tennant meets Peter Davison inside the TARDIS as two timelines intersect. I enjoyed it simply because Peter Davison (and Pat Troughton) was my favourite Doctor.
Do you mean this one Vic? I mentioned it back on page 2 of the Thread.

You're actually quoting David Fryer, not me... but I'm sure that's what he's referring to.
(And it hasn't been televised in the US, but it is included on the US Series 4 DVD set, due out November 18.)

I didn't know that it was only five minutes, my source made it seem like it was a full length episode.

An hour or so ago tonight a sneak preview of the Dr Who Christmas special was shown with what could be the new doctor... ;)
I saw that, and it seemed to me as though the David Morrissey character was just a normal human pretending to be the Doctor. What for, and where he gets his information (about the TARDIS, sonic screwdriver, etc.) are questions I'll have to wait until Christmas day to have answered, I guess!

Good news for Aussies today... according to Outpost Gallifrey, The Next Doctor will make its Australian debut on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on Sunday 25 January 2009 at 7.30pm on ABC1.

Now that is definately Good News!

Miss Hartigan was the best part about the Christmas special, in my view. I also liked the, um, "montage" of images from the Doctor's past.
Other than that, I found the episode a bit of a let down, but I suppose that's to be expected, as my snowed-in viewing consisted of Blink, the two-part season 3 finale, the two River Song episodes, and the two-part season 4 finale. Kind of difficult to top those episodes.
I wouldn't put the holiday special in the same league as, say, The Girl in the Fireplace or Turn Left, but I think it was better than the stupid Titanic Christmas special last year.
Serviceable. A bit of a let-down given the premise, but I suppose that was to be expected.

Though its unlikely I'd like to see Paul McGann as the Doctor again. The TV movie was dreck and as a result McGann never got a fair shake. He could've been a very good doctor. Though if the above posted rumour is true it'll be neat to see him even if it is in the form of Timewar flashbacks.
There are a number of Dr. Who audio stories by Big Finish where Paul McGann reprises the role.
