So, no update from HD? I'm curious to hear more about how it went.

Me and WWFP managed to play in all four scenarios from HD and Silverhair2008. Those of you out in Houston are lucky to have two great DMs! Thanks for the fine Texas hospitality.

My experience at the table was that pre-gens would have been helpful, but perhaps not a panacea. Some of the folks who showed up were just a little rusty or unfamiliar with 3.5, or indecisive, so I'm not sure how much of the delay was PC gen, and how much was players getting up to speed on what the PFS was all about. An-Soot (the monk component of Team Timeless), for instance, was 'ginned up at the table, but IIRC, his player had heard of PFS(or at least some form of organized play) and knew the rules. And also had played enough to know things like rolling the damage dice at the same time as attack dice. It also did not help that OwlCon had a line in its event guide that said pregens would be available at any scenario that did not say otherwise.

One other suggestion would be to have some PFS numbers ready to go. Ideally, I would suggest a 1-page pdf with instructions on how to register, a pitch on the PFS, and most important, a prominent place for the Society number to go. If a GM registers an event with 24 PC slots, consider assigning him a pdf with 24 pages of the 1-page sheet, with preassigned numbers filled prominently by the autowatermarking technology. It's not like you're going to run out of integers or anything.

Logic, was it you that brought the pregens? If so, kudos to you! Those really helped out. I intended on getting there early enough o help people make characters, the only problem was that the players didn’t show up early enough to get that done in a reasonable time. (Plus the line in the event guide you mentioned that I don’t think any of us noticed.)

I had a few sheets that had some basic “What is PFS” info on them, but since I live in Austin, am kind of a slacker and didn’t show up in time, I didn’t have the materials there at the time they were needed. The midday slot and evening slot on Saturday seemed to run fine, so I felt like I missed my calling to provide some of the things I hoped to provide….everything else, Silverhair and houstonderek brought with full-force.

I really hate that I had to bail early. I really wished that I could played in that eight o’clock game with you guys. That table was jammin’ and looked like a really good time.

Actually I got the pregen's from the General Discussion board here. They were courtesy of DigitalMage. If you read this DigitalMage, I thank you for your effort. They helped reduce some frustration for several people. I should have taken time to create more. That is something I will do before we start running the monthly Game Days at the local game stores.

It is good to hear that you guys enjoyed yourselves. HD and I see where we made some mistakes and where we can improve. Hope to see you next year at Owlcon.

Just my 2 cp.

No, I think Derek brought the pregens. I'm working on a spreadsheet of pregens too, but right now they've only got names, abilities, races, sexes, gods, factions and feats. And the clerics both need work since the Zon-Kuthonite has the Darkness domain and Sarenrae's cleric has Glory.

The Saturday night and Sunday mornings slots rocked right along; we had a good time and everyone was mostly up to speed on those two. A couple of unforced errors made things a little touch and go in Eye of the Crocodile King, but mostly we moved right along. We had all-elf parties in both, so Team Timeless triumphed twice!
