I find the use of the ability name "Weapon Training" to be confusing in the Pathfinder RPG. There are several independent abilities named like this:
1) the class ability of the fighter,
2) the racial ability of humans to gain proficiency with one martial weapon,
3) the rogue talent that grants the Weapon Focus feat.
I think two of these abilities should get a different name, so that it is immediately clear, what "Weapon Training" means.

No surpise that I agree wholeheartedly.
In the interest of clarity and consistency of usage, "weapon Training" should not have 3 different definitions, as a technical game term.
"Enchantment" should not be used to refer both to a school of magic and to the act of crafting a magical item.
"Level" or "your level" should not be used when discussing subjects that require differentiation between "class level," "caster level," "character level," and "spell level."

Weapon Training should be renamed to Weapon Mastery. Much more evocative and clear.
"Weapon Mastery" is already in use for the 20th level fighter class ability.

I see this as that fighter intentionally focusing on (and practicing with) a group of weapons to become more proficient at their use.
So maybe it should be called Weapon Practice (which you eventually master at level 20).
Without intending to hijack...
And seems odd to me they gain benefits with entire groups but eventually only master one weapon. I would suggest the level 20 bonuses apply to an entire group. Additionally, the basic attack and damage bonuses should increase one final time to +2, +3, +4, and +5 (since you don't add another group at level 20).
Of course, I also think there should be a way to reorder the bonuses so that as a fighter changes which weapon they use most often (due to the nature of random magical drops and specific crafting) they can get the most benefit out of it. At each level they add a new weapon group they should be able to reorder which group gets the +1 bonuses, +2 bonuses, and so on.
Cheers

Well,
Little spoiler here. The human lost that particular racial ability. I will endeavor to rename the rogue talent. Hopefully, that should clear up this particular confusion.

That sucks. I (and my players) really liked it. Martial Weapon Proficiency as written really is not worth a feat, so it was nice for a non-warrior classes to be able to easily pick up one cultural-type martial weapon proficiency (starknife, etc.).

Agreed. Martial Weapon proficiency should give proficiency in a group of weapons.
Simple Weapon Proficiency = all simple weapons
Martial Weapon Proficiency = a group of martial weapons
Exotic Weapon Proficiency = a single exotic weapon or small related group (such as all repeating crossbows)
