Well we are neck deep in the second book for the Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure path and found that we had a need for a new spell, detect disease. To solve this we had our cleric of Pharasma research it. The spell is probably out there in print somewhere but I own and have access to a large number of 3.5 boors and could not find it anywhere. Anyway here it is, let me know what you think.
DETECT DISEASE
School; divination, Level cleric 1
CASTING
Casting Time; 1 standard action
Components; V,S
EFFECT
Range; close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target or Area; one creature, one object, or a 5-ft. cube
Duration; instantaneous
Saving Throw; none, Spell Resistance; no
DESCRIPTION
You determine whether a creature, object, or area has been disease or is contagious with a disease. You can determine the exact type of disease with a DC 20 Wisdom check. A character with the Heal skill my try a DC Heal check if the Wisdom check fails, or may try the Heal check prior to the Wisdom check.
The spell can penetrate barriers, but 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks it.
As you can see we based it off of the detect poison spell but made it level 1 because diseases are a little more deadly than poisons and as a result would be harder to identify.
