Age of Conan Books any good?

Liberty's Edge RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32, 2011 Top 16

I've noticed that there are a bunch of new books in the "Age of Conan" world, which seem to be set in Hyboria, but feature new characters, but a variety of authors. Has anyone read any of these, and are they good? Furthermore, do they read like the sword and sorcery stories of the 30s, and in particular like Howard's Conan stories, or are they more like modern fantasy books that are in the same setting?

I've actually picked a few up by Richard Knaack at a used book store, but so far, they're not that high on my huge backlog list of reading, even though I've enjoyed Knaack's work previously.

Liberty's Edge

I've read the first two volumes of the Legend of Kern series and they are fairly good. There's something about it not being Conan that appeals to me. I haven't read the others and they are a bit hard to find in book stores, but if I could find them online or in a store, I'd pick them up.
