I would guess that the next Superstar competition might not be until 2009, once the new PRPG rules are finalized. Not only will it allow potential superstars to show what they can come up with for the new system, but it will let some of the Paizo folks to have some time to judge instead of making PRPG the very best they can.
Then again, I could be completely wrong, as has happened in the past once or twice, and RPG Superstar II might be a month or two around the corner, since it started last year in the fall.

I have a quick question about how it worked last time...
It is pretty neat I think to be able to see the discussions between the judges in Round 1, which were evidently private until the Top 32 were released.
Were the authors of the entries able to see these discussions before they were posted though, or, in the case of those that did not make the Top 32, did they have access afterwards just to see where they went wrong maybe?

In response to the second question:
There was a huge number of entries. The judges simply weren't able to post their discussion of every single one, and also I think I read from at least one judge that some of the evaluations were pretty harsh (so it was better for all concerned that those not be posted-I think it was also important for the integrity of the judging process that the judges felt free to be completely and brutally honest, knowing that their discussions would never see the light of day). If you read the posts, though, you get a master class in game design, even if you don't get specific feedback about your entry. After reading the boards extensively, particularly the judges' general feedback on the entries, I have a quite clear idea of why my entry was weak.

I'm guessing they won't start off with a Wonderous Item, they want people to think/develope fast on hteir feet, so it'll be something different.
My guess is a spell.
I think a feat or trap would be cool. I know the word count might be high, but a 5 level prestige class might actually be easy to judge.

Will the same restrictions apply for who can submit entries? I'm primarily concerned with the following: no one currently working for an RPG company; and no one with his or her name on the front cover of a hardback RPG book.

I think we might be tweaking the restrictions a little bit, but not that much—the goal, after all, is to discover unknown talent—you've already been discovered!

I know; I just love a competition, and last year was so much fun.
I guess if I want to write for Paizo, I'll just have to do it the old fashioned way - submit a proposal, cross my fingers, and wait. =]

Ahh...don't get mad at me now. I know time is precious. I'm just musing is all. : }
I was just thinking, usually, I know if I feel a prestige class rocks, is broken, is a stinker, etc after several seconds' perusal. I know that's not the same as judging a contest or editing a submission. I was just making conversation.
How about a prestige class in 200 words? What would those look like? I think a lot like 'wizard' or 'fighter. : }
