Eh. If you don't have a good QB, you don't have a good offense :) "If only they hadn't made us pass!"

Tell that to all the teams LSU beat by double digits this season.

Tolerable offense, good defense. That'll win you a lot of games, often by good margins. They had a good run game and a lousy pass game, and that adds up to a tolerable offense rather a good one. Their one-dimensionality on offense got them humiliated in the end.

I suppose I can accept "decent" as equivalent to "tolerable", as long as it's not considered "good". B- or C+, not an A, in my opinion. I'd love to have seen Alabama play some A grade offenses.

I suspect Alabama would have beaten Stanford, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Oregon, or USC, had the season fallen out differently (and USC been eligible). I know it would have been a more interesting game. I'm aware it was LSU heading towards any of those rather than Alabama, but LSU clearly wasn't the best team in the SEC in January.

Hey, Hey not need to be hating my team here.

We will see what happens on Saturday folks but I would not count out my Patriots. They have been playing better and they have a few more defensive players they did not have last time they played. Should be an interesting game either way.

We are used to the "haters" no love for the Patriots so keep on hating AZ doesn't change things usually and we have a love here for being the hated ones and getting no respect.

Should be a great game really tying in some of the largest names in football Brady and Tebow (who is I think the second largest selling shirt in the NFL right now). Should have some great ratings I am sure the NFL is loving this.

Liberty's Edge

I guess people have a short memory. NE did punk Denver out in Denver, after all.

Decent. Tolerable. For the most part they kicked the s$$$ out of those other teams. And with Jarrett Lee, before Alabama, they did have a decent passing game. The run game was great most of the season, even against Bama back in November.

It wasn't until last night, when Les Miles seemed to refuse to adjust to Bama's defensive changes, that their offense wasn't able to do anything.

I also think Bama would have beaten any of those teams. I also think LSU could have as well, especially considering they already did beat Oregon. None of those other teams have Bama's defense, which was the best in the country.

Meh, what can I say. It's not really hate, and not the Pats themselves, really, it's their coach. I dislike the man.

But really, I just want to see Tebow continue to win for a bit just to drive people crazy.

Dark Archive

I am not sure it will drive people crazy for most people outside of New England are routing for Denver not the Patriots most people want to see Tebow win. So really you would probably drive more people crazy routing for Bill Belichick and my patriots this weekend ;P

I can understand why you might hate Bill he is not the easiest person to like. But I do have alot of respect for the man. He also has done a fari amount for the people of New England and Mass in particular he is just quiet about it.

I still think you are the greatest undead out there even if you hate my team. I have love for you my friend.

Either way it should be a good game I hope your Saints pull it out. Sorry about your Tigers.

Could? Sure. Would? Well, they couldn't beat Alabama twice, so it's risky (as I pointed out) to draw too much off one victory when good teams play.

Oregon in September wasn't Oregon in January (Oregon in January was incredible), LSU in January wasn't LSU in September (LSU in January was tepid). I didn't like the title game being a rematch, and I wouldn't have wanted an LSU Oregon rematch, but it wouldn't be a foregone conclusion.

I think for any of the above teams, the offense/offense and defense/defense comparisons are comparable (great offense/ok defense vs. great defense / ok offense), that's what makes it a more interesting game. LSU played one really good offense all season, and that team in one of its worst performances all season still put more points up than any other team LSU played. I'd like to see how that level of play would stack up vs. Alabama's better D.

I'm sure someone will throw out the "Defense wins championships" canard, but a quick look at the NFL shows what a dominant offense can do. Either one can win the brass ring.

True, Oregon in September wasn't the same in January. The September Oregon was ranked higher. Ranked above LSU in fact. LSU played a total of 8 ranked teams this season, to be precise. So I'd think they more than earned the #1 spot and a 13-0 record.

Stat wise, Bama and LSU had two of the top ranked defenses in the country. Bama definitely had the better D. And each one put up a lot of points against some pretty good opponents. In the end, Bama's better offense showed up at this game.

As for the Defense wins championships - well, it can. But just as often a high powered offense can do so (Montana era 49ers, for an example).

In the end, it depends on which team has the better balance on both sides, and which team comes prepared. That's what LSU failed at, while Bama succeeded.

I appreciate the love. Right back at you. :)

I hope the Saints continue to do good. I think they've definitely got what it takes to go all the way. And I wouldn't mind seeing them face off against the Pats (should it come to that).

As for the Tigers, ultimately, I think they beat themselves.

Aberzombie wrote:

On the contrary, if the Packers get knocked out, and the Saints win over the 49ers, then the NFC Chanpionship game would be played in New Orleans. Home field advantage.

And unlike LSU, the Saints offense would very much show up.

Sounds like your mom had a run in with that all to common species sportsfanicus douchebagus. They usually turn up around fans whose teams have just lost. Some of them mock because they are fans of the winning team. Many mock because their teams couldn't have done any better.

I am inclinded to think the Patriots are going to win but as they say "Any given Sunday" or in this case Any given Saturday.

GO PATS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Steelers were alleged to have the number one rated defense in the league.

I'm not some Tebow worshipper but I wouldn't mind seeing him take down the mighty Pats and show Tom Brady he ain't the man anymore. Mostly likely though Brady will school Tebow like last time but we'll see if those magic prayers keep working.

Tebow got schooled by Tom Brady and manhandled by the Patriot Defense. It was a fluke that the Broncos even made it to the playoffs. I don't know how far Tebow will go but it's not looking good for him right now. As for the 49er game, what a splendid victory by the 49ers over the Saints. The 49er defense held strong, and they managed to stop dangerous passes from Drew Brees. 5 turnovers caused by the niners, and Alex Smith had a glorious moment at the last part of the game with his rushplay victory touchdown.

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Congrats to the Saints on an exciting, record setting season. They gave it a good shot yesterday, but you can't allow 5 turnovers and expect to win a ball game.

Also, congrats to the Broncos on going farther than anyone thought they would. And congrats to Tebow on a good season. He may not be a great quarterback, but he's a better person than a lot of the thugs that play the game.

Go Packers! Or, go Giants! I'm not picky.

Also, go Ravens!

Those witches from Salem put a hex on me. I'm going to have to go all Matthew Hopkins on them for inflicting me with their hoodoo.

Brady? He was hopped up on Cialis.

You haven't heard the last of Tebow. The Lord's work is not done. Y'all need to continue to focus on the family while I focus on winning.

I am the comeback kid. I will unleash a fury of righteous tebowing come August.

You'll see.

A big convincing win for the Patriots. Now comes an even bigger challenge the Ravens. Looking forward to the game and here is one who hopes they win this and the next game for MHK.
