Your day?.. or my day here in Germany.. ;-)

I'm excited as well -- but disappointed that this is coming so late. This gives 5 days to create a character. Not bad, but when trying to coordinate with the rest of my gaming group -- that gets together on Friday's -- it's too late.
I hate to say it again, but this is very much like RPGA - and needs to be better.

We know that it is 3.5 rules. Can you make characters and adjust as necessary?

How much effort does creating a character take? You can come up with the concept, fluff, and basic numbers now, and then drop in whatever tweaks are needed once the info's released.
Most experienced players can probably knock-up the crunchy bits of a 1st level SRD-only character in 5 minutes off the top of their head and get it virtually all correct (probably just check a couple of racial abilities and equipment prices). Particularly if they've got a pre-printed character record sheet to work on.
Give an inexperienced (but non-virgin) player half and hour + the PHB, and have somebody more experienced look over it.
So all of the fluff and 95% of the crunch can be done easily in advance, then just drop in the minor PFS-specific details later -- nothing to worry about :)

Yep -- that's the plan. Likely won't be able to take advantage of any campaign specific feats or bits of information, just a straight off the shelf PC. Of course, can't do any of the stats, equipment, skills, etc. as we don't have the creation rules yet -- e.g., how many points can we assign, etc. etc.

yesterday's blog said that the faction feats are free bonus feats... so you'll still be able to take advantage of them...I'm running a slot 0 tomorrow and your complaining about a week?

To be fair, this is the initial setup phase, Josh and Nick have no doubt had a whole ton of things to hash out and last minute emergency changes and so forth, so the overrun is pretty understandable. Hopefully once all the ground-work is set, the logistics are all ironed out and everyone gets into the swing of things, modules will be coming out regularly, on-time and to Paizo's usual excellent standards. If that isn't the case then I'm going to start worrying and complaining.
Right now, it's a shame things were late and it does suck for anyone going to Gen Con Indy who doesn't have a lot of free time in the week before, but I think it's pretty understandable and unlikely to be setting a precedent. I'd rather have a setup that works and is a little late, than on-time but with massive mechanical/logistical flaws that diminish the fun or leave loopholes for the power gamers to exploit :).

Check yesterday's blog... some of the campaign feats are there. I'd run with standard point buy from the Pathfinder Alpha 3 and adjust the character if that's wrong.
I don't know if any of the Golarion feats from the AP player's guide will be allowed or not.
EDIT: Scooped!
In another thread talking about the playtest Nick said their chars were made using the Alpha 3 point buy system with 20 points.

Free Feats...just another way we say: Pathfinders Kick Ass.
I hope you all dig the Guide!
It might be too early to tell, but when things shift to PFRPG rules in season 1, will we have the option of doing a free feat or two traits at level one instead? I know that now the traits are off limits because of the restriction to PHB only, but in the future, I'd love this option.

Well, one thing that was offered with the traits system was the feat "Additional Traits" that granted you 2 traits. Sounds like we'll have a six of one situation.

537pm ET and still no guide.
This doesn't bode well. Very RPGA-like.
If they simply fail to produce it at all, or produce it months late, I'll call *that* RPGA-like. More specifically, it would be like the promised revision of the LG Deities document, the Fright at Tristor results, the Bridge over Svartjet adventure, the high-level finale for this year's DDXP, on-line character tracking for Legacy of the Green Regent, and so on and so on.
I have had in hand for many days the adventure I'm going to run twice at GenCon. I've had time to carefully read it twice. It's quite good, better than most (but not all) RPGA adventures. And much prettier, too. I'm still holding out hope, and I understand that it's still several hours until EOB on the west coast.
But that doesn't keep me from looking every 15 minutes. :)

<Paces in frustration and glares at Paizo>
Hey now that isn't necessary, these guys/gals are doing a fantastic job. Yeah, the waiting sucks, but don't they always put out a superior product?
It is the VERY FIRST time that Paizo has done this, give them a break, ok?
I am a long time player of other "living" games, I can't wait to see how this will work.
I am sure they are working on getting it done as fast as possible.
