Alright... now let's have some spot checks. :)
Andrea Greenholt |
Andrea wanders round the town her attention drawn to the many stalls set out and the offerings they have upon them...she doesnt buy merely looks and moves on, her eyes darting around as she takes in the sights of this unfamiliar town...eventually like most she drifts to the podium to hear the stories and speeches.
As the screams begin her head whips round searching for the source of the strange song
Spot check (untrained) 15+1(racial)=16
Inikai |
Inikai is leaning against a wall, resting his tired feat after his return to Sandpoint. He is glad to have made it in time for Swallowtail Festival when his thoughts are interrupted by the scream.
Spot Check: 17+3=20
He pulls his morning star from under his robe and looks for the source of the trouble. "Four days walk back to Sandpoint carrying this weight and only now do I need it", he thinks mutters to himself, trying to remain calm.
For Joey:
Inikai made his binding check; he is not under the influence of Naberious so he can act as he pleases. His voice is gravely, more than is natural, when he is bound to Naberious.
Joey Lafyatis |
We will continue after Leliestraat's Spot check.
By the way, I made a website for the group. You can add your profile, talk with the other members, chronicle the adventure to date, etc. Here's the Link . Go to freewebs.com, our username is pathfinder4 and the password is pathfinder. Feel free to mess around with any of the pages, except other people's profiles!
Leliestraat |
Having traveled from the port of Korvosa to the coastal Sandpoint by a suspect, if not sturdy, merchant vessel, spending much of the voyage cloistered in his cabin nodding from the narcotic effects of Shiver, a drug-addled Leliestraat drifts silently through the street of the town.
Drawn by the allure of the autumnal festival for his patron, Desna and the surrealistic release of the butterflies, the wizard contemplates his leave of absence from the Acadamae and its enduring impact on his relationship with his fellow mages. With his relapse into the clutches of the Dream Spider venom and his intensifying addiction to the insidious substance, Leliestraat questions whether or not he will ever return to Korvosa.
"Perhaps the forest of Mierani ..." the elf muses aloud, swept up in the mesmerizing swarms of butterflies.
At the sound of bloodcurdling cries and horrific sounds, Leliestraat struggles toward alertness and seeks the source of the violence.
Spot +2= [21], nice roll on the DnD Dice Roller, unreliable as it is!
I made a minor alteration to Leliestraat's background to fit the new location. Never kicked the Dream Spider venom (Shiver) and is an addict taking leave of his responsibilities. Will receive a penalty to stats. Will have to research and post.
Joey Lafyatis |
I am assuming that you are all in the same general area.
As you hear the screams and turn in anticipation, you all see that the tiny figure that has just scurried under the wagon, next to the bleeding dog is a goblin. It's beady eyes dart around looking for another victim, while citizens begin to panic and run in all different directions. As you draw your weapons, three goblins, including the one from the wagon, advance towards where you are standing, while all around you, goblins wielding torches and fat daggers chase locals. All three wield torches and thier wide faces sport disturbing grins.
Initiative please
Inikai |
Initkai pulls his morning star up to his shoulder but its spikes catch on his cloak and he nearly drops it.
Initiative check: 10.
He yells to the goblin in a voice that is unnaturaly gravely:"Come closer, vermin, don't cower so."
Andrea Greenholt |
Initative 14+2=16
Andrea's lip curls as she sees the source of the chaos beginning to break out around her. She pulls her crossbow from the basket and lets fly at the nearest Goblin
I'll post my attack now just to speed things up Attack Roll 16+2=18 Damage 1d8=8
Joey Lafyatis |
This battle didn't go too well... Next time, we will actually go through initiative, etc. and please don't rush the game with attacks :)
Anyway, you all saw the goblins and can react in the surprise round. First, Andrea nails the closest goblin through the head with her arrow. He squeals in pain, and falls back, dead. The other two approach, but upon hearing the giant man's scream, they turn and start running for thier lives.
Leliestraat and Corlath, you can each take a shot at the running goblins if you want.
Leliestraat |
Shaken by the abrupt assault on the town by the goblin, Leliestraat gathers his bearing and pulls his shortbow from his shoulder. Nocking a black feathered arrow and drawing the taut string back, the elf fires on the closest of the fleeing creatures.
Initiative +4 (Improved Initiative)= 20, Attack= 10, damage (not necessary, really, given that roll)= 2
Joey Lafyatis |
Corlath finishes off another of the three goblins, but before Leliestraat can kill the last pest, it turns, and recklessly runs off, screaming in a high-pitched voice. All around you a goblin ambush begins. Despite the fear they create, not much killing is done. Down the street, a goblin jumps off a roof, attempting to land on a running local, only to hit the ground with a dull thud. He does not rise. Farther along the square, another group of goblins light a tent on fire, without realizing two others are still inside. As you look around, you see Sheriff Hemlock chase a giggling goblin, who climbs the stairs of the city wall, and throws himself over the other side, before the sheriff can reach him. Behind you, you hear the beginnings of a song sung in a high, annoying voice;
"Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblins cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse.
Goblins eat and take by force.
Goblins race and goblins jump.
Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head.
Goblins here and you be dead.
Chase the baby catch the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed.
We be goblins you be food!"
As you turn you see five more goblins, four hold torches, while the final chants the song with a whip in hand. On the last line, all four goblins yell "Food!", and run at you.
Initiative:
Leliestraat
Andrea
Corlath
Goblins
Inikai
Andrea Greenholt |
Mouth suddenly dry at the realisation that she has taken a life, even that of a Goblin, Andreas hands shake slightly as she reaches for another boltthe sight of the other goblins tears her from her fright and her mind reaches out grabbing and tearing at the magical energies that surround her shaping the red currents of the flow into a spell she has only used as a practical joke before now.She barely notices the other combatants her whole attention being fixed on the line of goblins
On her turn Andrea will cast Grease on the ground attempting to catch as many goblins as she can in the area of effect. She will not cast it in anyway that would affect her new found allies. Thats a Saving throw of 15 vs reflex
Leliestraat |
"Food?!"
"May you choke on my bones!" the elf cries, flourishing his hands and chanting in an arcane tongue.
With a blaze of blueish energy, a bolt of magic races from the spellcaster's fingertips and hurtles unerringly toward one the goblins caught up in the Grease.
Leliestraat casts Magic Missile, damage 1d4+1=4, not certain which I am targeting, DM's discretion on target. Cheers!
Joey Lafyatis |
Leliestraat blasts a magic missile at the closest goblin. The blue orb blasts into the goblin, which squeals in pain. It is still up, but extremely hurt. Next, Andrea casts grease over an area where four goblins are standing, three torch-bearers, and the singing goblin carrying the whip. As soon as the spell lands, the torches flare, and instantly, four goblins are being crisped dark brown. The three torch wielding goblins take the worst damage, and fall to the ground rolling about in pain, their screams no longer those of joy, as they realize that they actually have formidable foes. The whip carrying goblin, jumps to safety, and turns angrily on the group. Corlath jumps on another goblin, quickly downing him with a rapier thrust through the heart. The final goblin attacks Andrea, the source of the deadly flame, with her whip, striking out with startling accuracy.
2 damage, Andrea. Your next Inikai
Alisebett |
Suddenly out of no where you hear a fierce growl. A small dark grey shape goes hurtling by and launches it self at the whip bearing goblin in an attempt to rip it's throat out.
Attack=12 I'm assuming she missed-likely the Grease fire distracted her, hating fire as she does... :|
but just in case
Dam=3 Man I really need to remember to warm up these dice! Grrr
Alisebett |
Joey:
As I am running Ali in more than one campaign her spell selection will obviously not always be the same for both. For this, healer-lite campaign, unless otherwise noted, she will always have a cure light wounds memorized as one (or her only one right now) of her 1st level spells known for the day.For 0-lvl spells she will have: Detect Mag, Light and Stabilize (Pathfinder-Alpha RPG) unless otherwise noted
Wellard |
Which by my reckoning takes us to round two.
Andrea is mildy taken aback by the unexpected advantage the grease spell has brought..and barely gets an arm up to protect her face from the goblin females whip. As it is her arm is gashed badly by the metal tip.
ON ROUND TWO if goblin female still living
Andrea staggers back[5 foot step] as the wolf and the swordsman gang up on the Goblin. She draws on the magical energies again this time tapping them for a more damaging spell.
"Callistra calls you B$~~#" She snarls as she lets fly at the goblin with the concentrated ball of magic
Cast Magic Missile auto hit 1d4+1 damage=3
if the goblin is dead she'll cast MM at a target of opportunity
Joey Lafyatis |
Corlath barely hits the goblin with his first rapier, but misses with his second. The singing goblin is still up, looking hardly injured.
Leliestraat, give me your action, then we go to Andrea. I'm going to put Ali after Inikai for the initiative. We have just reached the second round, as Wellard pointed out. So it should go like this:
Leliestraat
Andrea
Corlath
Goblins
Inikai
Ali
Leliestraat |
As the fire engulfs the torchbearing goblins and the defenders of Sandpoint press their advantage, Leliestraat marks the goblin struck by his spell.
Returning to his bow, the bow nocks another dark arrow and fires upon the wounded creature.
Leliestraat Attack 1d20+2=21(!!), Damage 1d6=2 (?!)
Khaladon's Gal |
Reality Hiccup! The small dark wolf is now a Big Golden Wolf. Perhaps the biggest wolf you've ever seen!
ps Am I correct in that there is only one goblin left standing?Assuming so...
Used to hunting in packs, the massive wolf attempts to flank the remaining goblin. It lunges at the singing (or any) goblin, once again aiming to rip it's throat out (or hamstring it, depending on which side):
Attack: 16 (11+5) +2 if flanked, if hits...
Dam: 10 (5+5)
Joey Lafyatis |
Inikai's morning star smashes in the final goblin's head. Her giggles of joy turn into gurgles of pain as she falls to the ground. The raid of Sandpoint seems to be subsiding, due to the fact that many of the goblins involved either accidently killed themselves or thier companions, and those that didn't have left. As citizens crawl out from thier many hiding places all seems calm, but then you hear a scream from the north of town.
Since Inikai finished the goblin, we will keep initiative.
Khaladon's Gal |
Ok, since the goblin was already dead, can I do this instead...?
Denied the chance to finish off it's prey the big golden wolf growls menacingly and sniffs around the corpse. It's ears perk up however and a moment later you all hear a scream from the north part of town. The wolf dashes off with amazing speed 50' towards the sound , looking for more goblins to kill...
if he finds any I'm assuming Gal can just use his attack rolls from before? If you need me to roll again though please let me know
Joey Lafyatis |
The screams come from the north of town. As you arrive on the scene, you see a goblin, riding a deformed dog, attacking another dog. From behind barrels, other goblins encourage him. The goblin chief hits the dog a crushing blow, and whimpers as it falls, and as it does, all the other goblins let up a cheer, and move forward, towards a figure hiding behind a rain barrel, the source of the cries.
I am assuming that you all move to this area on your turns. We will keep initiative. So after Gal, we keep the order of:
Leliestraat
Andrea
Corlath
Goblins
Inikai
Gal
In the area there is one mounted goblin (on a dog) and four other goblins. Gal, you can use that attack, but tell me who you are attacking.
Khaladon's Gal |
Seeing the Goblin chief so cruelly killing an innocent animal Gal goes berserk and leaps to tear his rotten throat out...
I'm assuming because of his speed his got there well ahead of anyone else but concerns like 'back-up' are nowhere near the front of his mind at the moment. He is in a killing frenzy and will tear to shreds any goblin in site
Leliestraat |
"I don't know who you folk are or where you hail from," the elf shouts. "But I hope you enjoying cleansing the streets of rabid goblins!"
"And mind the dog, friend. Things are not what they seem."
With a hiss and the snap of a bow string, Leliestraat attempts to pick off another of the feral vermin.
Leliestraat, Target: DM's discretion, Shortbow attack, 1d20+2=14 (rrrrrr), damage 1d6=3
Hey Joey, Have you tried messing with Google Documents? My DM in another pbp uses them for simple maps and they work well in helping to translate location and range, as well as position. I could use a little help understanding where my opponents are, where the barrel is and where my elf is, as well. Just a suggestion, dude!
Corlath |
I don't know if I will be able to post tomorrow, so here is Corlaths turn. Just put this in after Andrea.
Corlath runs toward the nearest goblin, now very angry at being stabbed by a worthless goblin. He stabs with his rapiers.
Rapier 1= attack 16, damage 4. Rapier 2= attack 10, damage 5.
Joey Lafyatis |
Andrea's grease spell spreads over the area where three goblins are standing. All three slip and fall to the ground yelping as they try to get up. Meanwhile, Corlath is bringing another goblin to justice as his rapier finds a hole in the goblin's armor.
Your first rapier hits, the goblin is wounded, but not dead. So far there 3 goblins rolling around on the ground, another goblin stabbed by Corlath, and a goblin dog.
The goblin hit by Corlath aims a mighty blow, but Corlath easily dodges it, and the goblin's blade smashes into the ground, where it instantly breaks in half. The goblin dog takes another bite at Gal, but misses.
Inikai is up

Inikai swings his morning star in an arc down towards a grounded goblin but clumsily strikes the road instead.
Attack roll: 5
Khaladon's Gal |
If Gal can perform a Handle Animal, Heal or Knowledge nature (whichever is appropriate) to try and determine what is wrong with the dog Without losing his attack, he will: HA=6, He=19 ,Kn=16 . If not he will just attack
Sensing an twisting of the natural order, Gal's hackles rise and a deep ominous growl issues from his throat. This abomination must be destroyed yet Gal must respect it's prowess. He will attack defensively (-4 to hit +2 to AC) for this round and try to hobble the beast by crushing it's foreleg:
Attack:16 (d20=14+6-4)
Dam:8 (d6=2+6)
To speed things up in case I need to make another Fort save..
Fort:8 (Youch! We don't have Hero Points Do we?? Sniff Sniff ;-)
