Seeking Magic Item of Location

Frinds, I'm having a hard time remembering an item I swore I saw in my WotC 3.5 books.

Basically, my player wants an item that, when activated by another, will let her know he's in danger so she can go to him.

My mind is spinning, with the deathwatch spell always on, or a "braclet of friendship" I thought I saw somewhere, but I am drawing a blank. Any ideas?

Well, the bracelet of friendship is in the DMG, but it only calls a person who has a charm to you, it doesn't let you know someones condition. So in a way it is better, in another not.

I do seem to recall something like you describe. Check Magic Item Compendium?

umm.. there's an item like this in the RPG superstars pages... i don't know how to make the links in the posts, but it's called a beacon of hope.

This delicate amulet is crafted in the form of a beacon lantern. Through a simple divine ritual the amulet is attuned to the bearer’s deity so that when the bearer falls unconscious or is dying, friendly creatures within 600’ can sense their location without error.

Out of curiosity, what source was it in?

Only thing I could find was the "status" spell from the Player's Handbook (and the Greater Status spell from the Book of Exalted Deeds) and the "Bracelet of Friends" in the DMG.

Don't know about a specific, extant item, but in my Home-Brew paired status rings that could be upgraded with a limited number of sending charges are not uncommon.
