When I "discovered" Paizo, it was by accident while looking for old pdfs of modules and rulebooks. I had never subscribed to the magazines, and I realized only afterwards that I had already enjoyed their products (Shackled City as an obvious example, but "Paizonian" products as well like Expidition to Castle Greyhawk).

So how are the new people coming by it? Obviously, Dungeon and Dragon are not marketing, so what is Paizo doing aside form word of mouth?

I learned about pathfinder from Enworld. Now I go here every day, and there maybe one or two times a month. All 4th ed over there for the most part.

there's a little interest in 4E, it seems to be more like the kind of detached interest that keeps a person watching a train wreck to see if any bodies show up... we're all pretty happy with the majority of the 3.5 system, and are pretty deadset on not invalidating the ludicrous amount of books we've already invested in...

LOL!

I've been around.

I skim the 4e, d20, ENworld and Malhavoc forums quite a bit. I've known of Pathfinder for some time, but just recently came to see what it's about. I've been on a 3.5 conversion kick recently with Iron Heroes, Arcana Evolved, et all.

I've made character sheets and other documents for other versions of games, so pushing to more niche systems seems like fun. I like what I've seen so far.

I"ll most likely use Pathfinder among 4e and other systems when it's released.

I've been lurking around here for approximately 2-3 years now. I arrived when I heard about the Shackled City Hardcover, and after picking that up, came to the messageboards for advice on running it. I created an account just one short year ago, and have only recently been posting frequently (about two months or so).

As a Dungeon subscriber, the cancellation and the announcement of Pathfinder last summer really made me interested in the direction that Paizo was going. As I kept getting more and more Pathfinder stuff, I got more and more interested, and with the announcement of the Pathfinder RPG, I knew I had found the right place. That's around when I started posting regularly, and have been doing so since.

So I'd attribute Paizo's recent success to two things: The substantial quality of all of their products, and their keen understanding of their market and how to appeal to them.

I wish WOTC luck with 4e, but it's not me unless I'm running a miniature adventure. I liked the look of Pathfinder and the Dungeon and Dragon magazines. Cudo's for not following into the shadow of 4e, especially if it's not around long, what then WOTC does 4.5 or 5e...they do not have all the answers. I'm still happy with 3.5 and am interested to see where Paizo is going, they're kind of fun stuff. Plus just to let you know about me...I started with the "old" chainmail and AD&D back in 1976...does'nt mean I know more but I do know what I like. G

Liberty's Edge

I first learned of paizo when they were publishing Dungeon and Dragon. I followed the company for some time, but never got into the Pathfinder APs (I'm a Dungeon Crawl Classic man myself). The GameMastery stuff was a big draw, but I bought everything through my FLGS.

I've had an account since 2005, I think. That's when I placed my first order at least (a bunch of DCC pdfs). I may have posted once or twice, but nothing serious. Since I wasn't doing the APs, I didn't have much to talk about that wasn't being talked about on other rpg sites.

Once 4E was announced, I was excited (mostly by the release of Star Wars Saga), but the more that was announced the more I came to think that 4E would be a disappointment.

Then I heard about Pathfinder on therpgsite.com, and came over to join the playtest, and have been here ever since.

I found Pathfinder about 6 months ago while doing research on the future of the 4th edition game. I liked what I saw and decided to follow up on where Paizo was going with this. I have lurked around these message boards since then, never jumping in to add my two cents, but now that the Pathfinder Society is up and running and I hope to participate in that to some degree I figured it was time to join the crowd.

I had been a member for a few years, mostly to facilitate my magazine subscriptions, but I never posted anything until the cancellation notice came along. I started coming by the site to look at Pathfinder material after the transition, and to figure out just what the heck was going on with this whole 4E thing. I was so impressed by the work being done here I began to spend more and more time here, eventually getting involved in several PbP games. Now I spend most of my time and free money at the site.

I heard about the Pathfinder RPG on the Forgotten Realms boards of Wizards, and decided to check it out.
