Strength Bonuses for wielding two-handed

Combat & Magic

Is the strength bonus still 1.5X or is it doubled now? Also what if a character has a strength penalty, like -1. Can he get rid of the penalty by wielding his weapon two handed?

The STR bonus is still 1.5X so anyone with a STR of 1 is pretty much uneffected by its bonus.

Though I wouldn't mind if they decided to double it. It would mean character's with a strength of 12 and 13 could finally get an advantge in wielding 2 handed weapons/one-handed weapons 2 handedly.

In the case of a character with negative str I would think it gets better but I could be wrong. for example a character with a STR mod of -2 it gets multiplid by 1.5 so thats 3 right? But you just multiplied -2 byt 1.5 so thats -3 so in fact weak characters can bearly wield 2-handed weapons which in a way makes sense as you would have a physcially weak charcter clumsily and struggling to swing around a heavy sword and all of that would only make sence if applied to attacking and the issue is damage so I'm not sure.

I guess you improve, so 2 from 3 is one and -2 plus 1 is -1. so its up to the players judgment really.

Any other word on this since the beta release? I don't agree with the idea that a negative bonus would become "more" negative. That defies my experience and logic. A person with a strength of 9 can use a long sword with a -1 damage. Why would using two hands make this become -2 damage? From my experience relatively weak people to defend themselves, using a weapon in two hands has always increased the power and effectiveness.

A suggestion may be that with a negative strength bonus just reduce penalty by one when using two hands.

An answer for this would be beneficial Jason.

I would rule that a negative penalty would be cut in half.
a -1 would be reduced to 0 (1pt net gain)
a -2 would be reduced to -1 (1pt net gain)
a -3 would also be reduced to -1 (2pt net gain)
a -4 would be reduced to -2 (2pt net gain)
