Dazzling Display

Alpha Release 3 General Discussion

I wish to give to one of of my PC the feat "dazzling display" with his weapon focus for his greatsword, but in fact I don't really understand the way to use this feat, because what it means "you can perform a dazzling display"? In fact you make an Intimidate check but what is the DC to succeed? Or the NPC must make a check but which one?
Thanks,
Sempaï

I would say the Intimidate check from Dazzling Display is made just like a normal Intimidate skill check to demoralize (p.60). The DC is 10 + target's HD + target's Wisdom modifier.

I was curious about this feat also. Do you think you could do this without suffering from an attack of opportunity?

Another question I had was weather or not demoralizing effects stack like fear effects. If someone is shaken from the intimidate skill or dazzling dispay for more than 1 round and then you repeat the dazzling display on the following round would the target become frightened?

Just curious as this type of fear causing effect seems to bypass Will saves. I'd love to hear what you folks think on this.

According to the rules as written, being shaken by the Intimidate skill is a fear effect.

Therefore, combined with a feat that allows a character to demoralize an opponent for more than one round Dazzling Display would allow a character to effectively control/debuff the battlefield around him.

If only I knew where to find such a feat...

Waiting for the day PFS moves on to PFRPG rules so he can make this exact character,

This might make more sense if it were combined with an attack (or is that what 'wielding' means in this context)?

The way I've read it Dazzling Display simply implies that you're flourishing your weapon/waving it around/doing insane tricks with it in such a fashion that anyone that even sees it gets frightened of your l33t sk1llz. So there would be no actual attack involved.

That's how i read it too. It reminds me of the 2e Bard's Blade Kit. (I think there was also a nonweapon proficiency in Al'Qadim similar to it)

And this is precisely why i think DD being a prereq for Stunning Defense and Deadly Stroke does not really make any sense.

Reminds me of the old Raiders of the Lost Arc bit where Indy shoots the guy performing this feat. There's a failed roll...

haha, I loved that part.

Also you intimidate opponent(S) within 30' versus the one on one of an intimidate check. I have a character with weapon focus Spiked chain who uses DD when fighting multiple opponents, but when he duels ("it is dishonorable to use a weapon with reach") he uses a greatsword, and make a normal intimidate check versus his opponent.
