I was wondering if you had to pick an all time favorite movie, what would it be?
My movie would be The Secret of NIMH. I love they way it looks. Its different from other movies in appearance.

You remind me of the babe. The babe with the power.
I think I would have to go with Raiders of the lost Ark
Just one? Probably Blade Runner.
Star Wars
Circa 1977
Not Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, just Star Wars. Han shot first.
The Dark Crystal will always rule.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Up until that came out, it was the original 1977 Star Wars.
Pretty much depends on the genre, but if I had to pick only one, it would probably be Airplane!. The grandaddy of all spoofs ...
The Hunt for Red October.
"The Evil Dead".
Hands down.
Bruce Campbell RULES!
Drama:The Fellowship of the Ring
Comedy: The Three Amigos
Maybe, *Maybe* American History X
Hard to narrow it down.
My Little Pony: The Movie
Andrew Turner wrote: Labyrinth Thirded. I have As the World Falls Down and Within You on my playlist.
Every time I watch that movie, I spot some other cool little detail, like the game of Labyrinth in Sara's bedroom.
Too many good movies... (Best Cpt. Kirk voice)
Old School: The Great Escape
New School: Firefly
Based on the channel changing have to stop and watch theory.
Don't evenknow exactly why these two - but Blade Runner and Strange Days share the top position.

I love the opening pan in Sarah's room--there are so many fine details that foreshadow or connect with later events in the film.
Highlander is my all-time favorite movie. I've seen it probably 100+ times now.
I've seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail slightly fewer times, but it holds a close 2nd place.
The Matrix is in 3rd, as I bought a home theater system and a new DVD player just to have the rooftop scene in digital surround sound.
My wife loves Labyrinth. It was the movie of her choice in the birthing suite when she delivered our 2nd child.
Casablanca
To me it's just about the perfect movie.
Stars, writing, direction, drama, humor.
And the quotes! So many good quotes that have entered onto common venacular.
A Clockwork Orange.
It never gets old. I'm singin' in the rain!
Probably Doctor Strangelove. Comic perfection.

Casablanca is way up close to the top for me, as well, Pete. And I have used that description for it as well... just the perfect movie. Not my absolute favorite, but the best blend of everything you could hope for.

Yeah the original was one the all time greatest movies ever. The directors cut even better. It's too bad none of the sequels even approached the level of utmost cool that the first one did.

One of the best.

Seconded. Mainly because it so captured my attention from the moment I saw it and it has never let go.
Casablanca is a very close second. I have actually stolen themes from this movie for gaming. Such a great movie.
Casablanca.
Made in 6 days with a stellar cast on a shoestring budget and two completely different endings. The cast didn't know which one would be used until they were actually filming on the sixth day. As Time Goes By defined an entire era.
Perfection.
Coming in a close second is Citizen Kane.

"I can no longer sit back and allow... Communist infiltration... Communist indoctrination... Communist subversion... and the international Communist conspiracy... to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids!"
Also, I can't believe they're remaking Red Dawn to "better fit with the post-9/11 world." Blasphemy!
Silence of the Lambs, but The Thing is pretty close behind.
I love a lot of the ones mentioned above and would like to add "Cool Hand Luke" and/or "To Kill A Mockingbird".
F. Wesley Schneider wrote: Silence of the Lambs, but The Thing is pretty close behind. The Thing!!
I forgot about that movie!! Way up there for me and I think I have done that scenario at least half dozen times over the years in various games! The best one was when I stranded a group on an ice world in an old school Traveller game and none of the players were familiar with the movie! Awesome!
Braveheart seconded. Great battle scenes, amazing soundtrack and a rousing emotional rollercoaster of a ride.
Hard to pick only one but Lawrence of Arabia is one of my favorite movies.
The Devil's Advocate.
Definetly Pacino's best performance ever.
Pathfinder Adventure, Rulebook, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber
Fellowship of the Ring; 2 disc Special Edition version.
Nuff said.
It's a Wonderful Life
I know that's kind of lame, but that movie is just so damn successful at pulling my heartstrings. Some people think it's schmaltzy, but I think they're seeing the sincerity in it as false. Personally, I think it's profound. I can't help but get misty eyed every time George's brother toastes "To my big brother George, the richest man in town"
August Rush.
I really liked watching Robin Williams in a somewhat serious role, and the music in it was amazing.
Army of Darkness
Doesn't matter how many times I've seen it: if it's on tv I'll watch it again... and again... and again...

Yes. Yes he does.
Hail to the King, baby. :)
Aliens. It has everything.
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
without hyperbole I probably watched this movie at least 13 times over a year in Iraq.
Sebastian wrote: My Little Pony: The Movie Sebastian, you made me laugh out loud!
Incredibly hard to pin down, and on different days I'd give different answers, but today's answer is The Shawshank Redemption. Everything about that movie is so good. All the characters are interesting and well-developed, and the ending is beautiful. Couldn't ask for much more in a film.
Spartacus - old school Hollywood epic...
"I'm Spartacus!"

Western: Tombstone
War Epic: Braveheart
Drama: Glory
Comedy: Back to the Future
Science Fiction: original Star Wars Trilogy
Fantasy: Lord of the Rings
Action/Adventure: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
And my all time favorite of all??
Glory
Ghostbusters
It had it all. Comedy, sci-fi, romance...plus the cartoon show!!
Ooh, remembered another one I watched more than is normal.
Lost Boys.
