Status Condition Cards

GM Tools

1 to 50 of 58 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

So, because I have way too much free time, I decided to have some fun in Photoshop, and provide a handy tool for fellow GMs: Status Condition cards.

Check it out here: Image Madness

Grab them from the site and distribute them as you see fit. I find that printing them in a 3x3 array with Windows Photo Gallery (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer in XP) yields some good results. I also suggest laminating them, so players can write on them then wipe them off easily, though any numeric values can be dealt with using dice. Put those D12s to use! Don't forget to reduce the size on them. They are by default pretty big.

Each card has a color version (sort of?) for those who like copy stores or buying new ink, and a black and white version for those who like cheap or happen to have reams and reams of ivory colored cardstock sitting around their apartments because a certain relation thought it would be a great idea to purchase heaping piles of it.

Anyways, I hope people like these. I'll try to work up some more quick reference cards later.

YOINK!
This is a great idea! I think you should do cards for all the different conditions a character can be put into; dazed, stunned, fatigued, etc... you get the picture. Also, some common spells that give group effects might be nice as well. (haste, prayer, aid, etc.)

The link isn't working for me... getting the "cannot display the webpage" error.

Very nice. Excellent idea here. I've been making item cards for Magic items and such, now I'm going to have to print these or make my own. Plus one for rage, bulls strength, cat's grace... grease

sigh... thanks, for killing my day.

Oh, my! These are much better quality then I made. I think I'm converting. Though I will definatly have to add the rest as the others have said. Looks like I have another time waster.

These look great Greaver. I only have a couple minor suggestions:

* For consistency with the other cards, rename "Blind" to "Blinded".

* Currently Frightened and Panicked both have 3 exclamation points whereas Shaken has but one. To better indicate the increasing severity of fear effects, change Frightened to have only 2 exclamation points.

* Keep up the great work! :)

On a side note, is Papyrus the ultimate D&D font or what? :D

Heh, looks like I have more work to do. I'll upload more and update versions later today.

Are there any other effects people would like to see? I'll work out the rest of the printed conditions. Should I do poisons and diseases as well?

If possible, I'll post the .pst base as well, so that people can make their own with the premade layers and text boxes.

Something I saw mentioned in another thread gave me an idea.

For things like buffs, what about cards that could be hung over top of the DM screen so that the same info would face both the DM and the party?

Also, with handy tools like the Combat Pad now, perhaps it would be better to list the round on which the effect expires rather than the number of rounds remaining. That would make for less erasing each round.

Great job Greaver! I'll use them in my next session

Updated with some more cards. Added the following:

Bull's Strength
Cat's Grace
Bear's Endurance
Fox's Cunning
Owl's Wisdom
Eagle's Splendor
Mage Armor
Shield

I figured popular low level spells would be a good idea for easy tracking purposes. I went with what I consider to be the 7 most popular low levels spells that are used even by high level parties.

Sovereign Court

These are absolutely fantastic! Thanks so much.
and by the way, some of the quotes are pretty epic. :)

These are really awesome, but do you think you could make a zip file with all of the cards for easy download? It is kind of a hassle to download each individual card.

Scarab Sages

Very nice; I like how the card icons show the common theme at different severity (shaken/panicked/frightened), so if you make a partial save, or recover by one category, it's obvious which one applies.

Another request; Haste.

2 years of gaming, and 13 levels later, my fellow players still ask me what it does!

These are great

The 9 per page works great as I have a card book I have been using with some other cards I bought, and others I made, but none as fun as yours!

Some spells like Web, Entangle, or ones that have odd or complex rules so there handy for the players and gm. I keep them in a little book that was meant more for Yu-gi-oh or Magic cards and these fit just fine and are always ready and at hand so I don't have to keep looking up often used or confused rules.

Thanks and please keep up the great work!

Sovereign Court

Could Paizo please pay Greaver Blade to mass market these? Slap the Pathfinder RPG logo on them or not - I'd buy 'em. These are brilliant (and funny).

Sovereign Court

Oh, and, whoops, there's a typo on Bull's Strength (The "strenght" of a bull is formidable...)

Sczarni

Greaver Blade, you're my hero!

Totally stolen!

thanks a lot, amigo

I screw up the spelling of that word every single time I type it.

Anyways, keep posting individual spell requests. I'm going to finish up Haste later, once I can find a good image or WingDing for it. I'm also going to try to find something for Shield of Faith.

Any spell players or DMs would like is fair game. I'm thinking of doing some offensive spells as well, including simple ones, just so players can hold the spell and toss it down as they cast it. Conceptually, a wizard player could keep these in a binder as his spell book, and track spells known and prepared that way. Also check out the divine spells lists, and see what would be good there.

Couple more cards up.

Haste
Dead

Coming up:

Freedom
Gaseous
Incorporeal
Ehtereal
Reduce
Blur
Displacement
Invisibility (and Greater)
Geas/ Quest (and lesser)
Deafened
Silenced

And some more. Is there any demand for offensive spells? I've commissioned (sort of) an artist to make art for these, so gimme lists.

Greaver, these are truely excellent - great resource

They'll be put to good use here in the wilds o' Scotland

[must be nice feeling thinking they're gonna be used the world over!]

Thanks again

You seemed to miss uploading Eagle's Splendour.

There's a typo with Haste: make on(e) additional
Owls Wisdom: Pidgeons are considered by be winged be winged vermin.

Thank's.

Bah, I'll get on the error corrections right away. Anyways, a handy DM tool up for those who may have missed it. Take a look for it, though I don't want to spoil the suprise.

Also, feel free to link them on other boards. I'll probably put a small "By Greaver" on each card in the future, and put better art on each of them. I have an artist who's willing to do stuff for each of the cards I make. I should probably find some more places to post these, too.

Anyways, thanks for all the positive feedback. I'll keep making more.

Scarab Sages

I like the 'Dead' condition!

Stick it to the player's forehead, watch him go 'Am I still unconcious?' every round.

Freedom now up.

Anybody know what the dot next to the thread means?

The dot means that you posted in that thread, or at least that is what it used to mean before they disabled it a while back.

Yah! If the dots are back!

Cards are great.

Couple of suggestions for you.

Bless
Aid
Prayer
Protection from Evil (Circle)
Slowed

Some that I don't know if they are useful or not:
Mirror Image (I can never remember how this works now)
Turned to Stone
Gaseous Form
Any of the New Animal Shape spells?
The Bard Buffing Abilities, can't remember what they are with out the Pathfinder rules in front of me (Don't flog me for not taking the rules every where)
The new Cleric Powers (You know the ones that last for 3 rounds or until used)

These would be pretty cool as a card set, maybe you should flog the idea to Paizo?

EDIT
Do they need the "Bonus" type on the card in your opinion?

These are just great.

Last night both the Broken and the grappled issues came up and I was able to just pull out the card and see here you go, these are the rules in Pathfinder. Then move on with the game. What a great time saver.

Had you thought of making the Template downloadable so that others can make their own cards? How easy is it to make them? They print off so well with 9 on a page and fit so nice. I'd like to do some of my own for often used spells and for other refernece issues like characters abilities.

Thanks for the great work!

Sovereign Court

Nicely done.

The Exchange

Wow, very nice.

Sovereign Court

these are great, howsabout

Entangled

Prone

Slowed

Those are three conditions I encounter a lot

Enlarged and Reduced would be great too.

The Exchange

Held

i'll second bard buffs and bonus type on the cards

Bonus type is actually a really good idea. Heh, looks like I get to remake quite a few cards. I think I got it listed on Mage Armor and Shield, but not on the X's Attributes cards.

As for a downloadable template, I want to finish up a big batch first. That way I can pack the template and the .psd's for each and every card in to one big download. Right now I can't put up the template on Photobucket, since it doesn't recognize the image format. Once I get all these redone, I'll pack them in to one big .rar and toss it up on Megaupload or something.

Glad people are finding use for these in their game!

These are really cool concept. I always said a gamer with too much time on his hands could solve the worlds problems in an afternoon, its never happened because we always get a new game idea.

Anyways thanks very much, and you might think about putting some professonal work into this idea, I know more then one gamer who'd pay for these with good art and stuff. Just a thought.

Grand Lodge

I started doing something like this ages ago... got bored with it and never picked it back up...
way to go!

Sovereign Court

Again, nicely done. I'd like to have these for easy printing to size, rather than copy and adjust the size of each one in photoshop. Any eta on how soon you could have the batch ready? Did I mention how nicely done these were? Thanks.

Sovereign Court

Oh... delay my last...

I easily copied these into photoshop. I'll resize from there. Thank you again. I didn't mean to be demanding, just got excited about using these...

Sovereign Court

Er... yes. Me, again. ...
Is there a chance you might also make the following:
Ability Damaged
Ability Drained
Cowering
Dazed
Dazzled
Deafened
Disabled
Energy Drained
Entangled
Exhausted
Fascinated
Fatigued
Flat Footed
Helpless
Invisible
Knocked Down
Nauseated
Paralyzed
Petrified
Prone
Sickened
Staggered
Stunned

I think the cards look great. I'm planning to keep just one stack handy. I've placed the cards in plastic holders and placed two different cards back-to-back in each. They look and feel handy. I'll let you know how it works out after Monday. Thanks.

Sovereign Court

anything ever develop?

Silver Crusade

It would be great to be able to translate the cards (yes, people play D&D in many languages ^_^).
Could it be possible to have the original file (instead of a png file), in order to tranlate them to Italian?

These are great! I printed them friday (photo-paper) to see if they would be usefull on my saturday game and we soon had 6 out on the table: mage armor, grappled, pinned, blinded, shaken and frigthened.

It's mutch better to have those than the books (that would have been a lot of PHBs!) taking up space at the table and/or avoids the repeated page flipping.

For some reason the girls liked them even more and one was even sad their wasn't one for enlarge.

Thanks for sharing, they'll see a lot of milage around here I'm sure.

Starfinder Superscriber

Totally brilliant, as soon as there's a single file (or enlarge is added) I'll be printing these puppies out.

What do you mean the girls were sad that there wasn't ENLARGE!?

Are you trying to spam the board to sell something? ;)

For some reason all female players I played with (fiance included) like to crush opponents with tow-handed weapons with their combat-type characters and enlarge makes the experience even more fun with Reach and large-sized weapon damage (especially for tow-handed weapons).

But with a male dwarf cleric casting the enlarge and 3 female characters (2 are female players), the "Size-Maters" joke were flying around for a good while.

Sorry all. Been busy lately. I'm going to work up another batch over the week end. Started playing Ragnarok Online again, and since it's a double EXP week end, I'll be at my computer plenty now. Go go dual monitor! RO on the left, Photoshop on the right.

I'm actually going to end up remaking more or less every card. There's been a significant request for the originals, and I honestly didn't save them individually as layered .psd's. Additionally, Photobucket won't let me upload the filetype. So, goal for the time being is to remake them all, save each psd, put all the cards themselfs on photobucket, and provide a download link for a megapack of everything.

Depending upon how busy she is, I might bug my artist to create some new art for each card isntead of my current system of using clip art and wingding fonts.

Edit: Would people like a PDF of each card in a 3x3 sheet for easy printing?

Yes! Please!

Sovereign Court

Greaver Blade - I really enjoyed having these at the table last Monday. I will appreciate whatever you come up with. I was actually just hoping for the rest to complete my set, however, if you upgrade and so forth - that's icing on the cake. Thank you for your time. I'm inspired to create something to give back to this community as well.

I'm going out on a limb and say that everyone will say hell yeah!
