New Campaign Starting on Sunday June 29th. Gamers required!!!

Gamer Connection

1 to 50 of 73 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Well here I am, trying to stablish solid friendship over this site and trying to get a place to play on another games. The reason I am trying to run this PBP campaign is to get experience on this kind of games since all the sessions I have run are "normal" ones.I am always the DM because my game partners are unable to take the game seriously as I do and they will never "lose" their time reading the rules since I am the one who knows them and apply them in game. I am tired of this because no one of my known people likes RPG or at least as I wish so I am here trying to stablish solid relations with another gamers.
My experience as DM is about 4 years, I enjoy it but I would like to play only and I expect the players that take this campaign make part of their friends when they run their own campaigns and give me priority to participate. However this is not mandatory since they can recommend my name to their friend's PBP campaing to participate.
This campaign is set on the Forgotten Realms (this has been my game world for the last 4 years) and I am looking for a balanced group of 6 players. The selection process will take from today to June 27th when all the players will be elected and the game will start at Sunday June 29th.
No conditions, you are free to propose your character as you wish with the exception of character with a evil alignment, only lawful-good, chaotic-good or neutral-good accepted and later they must act like that or expect penalty experience points.
We start as 1st level characters, after the first adveture we will see how this work and if everything is right we will continue till reaching 20th level, after that retirement.

Rules: 3.5 (rules!!)

Ability points like this:

18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8 you choose where to write each score.

You have to write your origin and procedence city or town and you have 100 gp to buy any equipment you need to start. Every character starts with a minor Magic Item. Don't expect easy things you start powerful but the challenges will be tough too.

I always thought feats were scarce to players on the PHB (one every 3 levels, come on!), so on this campaign you can select one every level after 1st out from the feats your class gives you.

That is all if you have questions, speak!!

I would be interested - in which region are you going to play?

gurps wrote:

The Vast is the starting point, near Raven's Bluff.

Do you expect posts very often?
What about not-english-native-speakers (me german, ugh!)

gurps wrote:

I am not an English native speaker, so don't worry about that. I expect every player post at least once a day.

5 days a week would be possible - weekend is bad ;-)

i'm interested. i would like to play a human who has amnesia. a wizard or sorcerer. let me know the region, and usable source books, etc

mittean wrote:

You can use every 3.5 source official and unofficial but first you must tell me where you found it. The region is the Vast.

would you like the full character presented to you before you decide? Or just the snap shot?

mittean wrote:

Full, please.

Amnesia? Hmm. Well you will have your amnesic caster but then you will lose total control about your past and you will be discovering it through your career, who are you? I have the answers.

"Are you ready for mittean RIP?" or Better Identity Crisis.

absolutely. go anywhere you want with his story, who he should know, how powerful or well known he was, whatever. i'll provide the character conflicts, confusion and personality, lol.

How many players do you currently have? Im looking for a PBP game to get involved in. Have you thought about using the Pathfinder rules? What kind of game is it? (primarily dungeoning...wilderness....city...etc...)

I am using 3.5 plain rules for now maybe in the future I embrace totally Pathfinder rules since I am more familiar to 3.5. This is a campaign that can involve many scenarios. I will start it at 1st level and our first adventure will take us to 2nd or 3er level and after that I will see if this work and we can continue it to the 20th level when all the players retire.

Something important is that I will be elaborate my campaign using adventures from vintage Dungeon Magazines converted to 3.5 and adapted to my campaign (sorry but I am very busy on my job to write an adventure so I will use them). I do this because I need start solid frienship with other gamers that eventually on the future could run PBP campaings and invite me to participate since it is easier getting a job on Paizo than getting a place to play on a PBP campaign.

Liberty's Edge

ok How many players do you have now and what character classes are they playing, so I can get something together that fills a needed niche.

Dread wrote:

You are the second to response, the first one is a wizard. I am always playing a spellcaster because they are my favorite ones but I like looking good role playing on fighters or barbarians and seeing them using his cunning and muscles. What if you play the role of the strong man of the group? You like the idea?

Liberty's Edge

I think Ill go for Paladin, if thats alright?

Ill start working on the character and get it to you by the end of the weekend. You want me to post it here? or in another thread? or email it to you?

Character creation guidelines?

A Paladin is OK only. You can post it under de spoiler tag.

mittean wrote:

Absolute freedom, under the 3.5 rules. Any race from the Forgotten Realms, I will be using the books from AD&D, I think no other edition described the realms in such detail.

You can use any source official and unofficial to get your feats but tell me where you found anything out from the PHB.
By the way you start without any equipment, your only possessions are the clothes you are wearing. When you open your eyes you are lying on a bed inside an unknown room (needless to say you don't know who you are or where you are). There starts your life. Do you accept the challenge?

absolutely. i'll have him up within 48 hours. We have a bottle of absinthe to tear through tonight, but i'll get him, lol.

Got room for a gnome cleric?

Liberty's Edge

he would...

since that makes 3 now.

1. Human Wizard/Sorcerer
2. Half Elf Paladin
3. Gnome Cleric

pres man wrote:

Yes, you are in.

Dread wrote:

Yes. Still room for only 3 more.

You can start sending your characters for approval, give me good background but don't tell a novel please. I am not the kind of DM that ask for complex characters to get a slot on the game. Just enjoy be creative but say it in a few words.

Remember we are using plain 3.5 rules, with the variations showed above.

Important: No one of you will make a roll, you can be lured to make two or three clicks before posting your roll. So enjoy the story and role playing and leave me to do the rolls and I later will post results. I will say the consequences of the actions too.

I...

A feat every level? (every other level?) What the class offers? (bbns do not get feats) I am interested in a halfling who likes throwing axes. Whether that would be a fighter or a barbarian would depend on the answers above. Also I am sporadically afk for much of the next week. If that rules me out, I understand.

Spoiler:
Welthin is from a tribe of warriors local to a valley that floods every winter as the river is blocked off by an ice damn. They are used to being light on the load and ready at a moment's notice. the many cats and bears that fish the same river system, has helped him become good at the weapon he favors: a throwing axe. When traders brought in axe heads made from something other than stone Welthin discovered a whole new world. He left the only people he had ever known and set out to see this new world. A world with with iron, steel, and even more fascinating metals (he pronounces it: met-tahls and with much awe).

S18, D16, C14, W12, I10, H8, point blank would be the short

Just to note, I don't have the Realms books with info, so my story will have to be a bit generic.

A brief character history:

Spoiler:
Voran was born into a family that was intimitately tied to the church of Garl Glittergold. From an early age, it was impressed on him the importance of showing Garl respect and praying to him. But it was also impressed on him that one had to sharp tongued and sharp witted as well, just like Garl. The day that Voran was admitted into the church for teachings was one of the proudest days for his family and for Voran.

During his training he realized that though he could learn to use many weapons and armor, he lacked the physical strength or dexterity to truly be a holy warrior for Garl. Instead his true strengths were in his mind, his wits, and his charming personality. Once his initial training was completed he was sent out into the world to spread the word of Garl Glittergold to all gnomes, raising their spirits.

Outfited by his order with basic gear, Voran's greatest treasure is the silver holy symbol that was a gift from his family on the day of his acceptance to the order.

EDIT: Also you mentioned something about a minor magic item, can you share anymore details on that? What type of items? Are we going to pick them or will they be given to us by you?

Hallo,
I would like to show my interest in your game. I'm thinking a human monk on the vow of poverty. I would do up the background if I got the go ahead.
I could also do a full on tank, fighter or ranger with improved trip/disarm with a spiked chain and full plate, plus he would be a smart guy for a fighter.

Let me know, later.

Have a Nice Day

Curaigh:

Everyone is welcome to submit a character, still 3 slots, but remember you need to have time, at least one post per day required. Thanks for your interest.

Hello:

Your character has been pre-selected only you need to post it again including a minor magic item. You select it but the only requisite is explaining how you got it and it must make sense to your background.

Moreover I need you to tell me what does this mean:

Speed: 15 ft/x4 what does x4 mean?.

Dread wrote:

Approved

Well this the status right now of this PBP to start on June 29th:

1)Dread approved.
2)Pres man pre-approved
3)Mittean (lack character but approved anyway)
4)Empty slot
5)Empty slot
6)Empty slot

Remember this:

If you lack time to post regularly please don't ask a slot. Write in plain English, don't use coloquialism or abreviate words. I am not a native English speaker so be clear.
If I don't understand a post I will assume the character did nothing.
Please you can't be very descriptive without being too long on your post, "I hit the monster with all my strenght aiming to its neck" is enough you don't need to write what happens second to second. I prefer many short posts than a few with long texts.
Thanks for your interest, sharp your swords and axes, the game will start soon.

I'm thinking of a wand of cure light wounds, would that be acceptable?

Patricio Calderón wrote:

Sorry, that is refering to how fast the character can run. He is carrying a medium load, so his speed is decreased to 15 ft but he can still run four times as fast (up to 60 feet). If he had a heavy load he would go 15 ft/x3, that is if he ran you could only run three times as far as a standard move (up to 45 feet).

I think I am going to use the cloistered variant after all, so I'll try to have a final draft sometime tomorrow (got to do some adjusting of skills and hp).

Well, seeing how the SW d6 PbP game I'm involved in is mostly stalled until Fall (?), do you mind if I sign up? My D&D PCs are usually of the Paladin or Cleric class, but I'm willing to try out a human barbarian if you'll permit it.

Do you still need another player? I would like to play a Human Barbarian in your campaign.

I just noticed that when I changed him from using a rapier to a short sword I forgot to change it down in the possessions list. Alec should have a short sword listed uner his possessions rather then a rapier.

I also noticed that you will be using AD&D FR books, and I was wondering what year this is set in, it could have profound affects on my background.

As you see still 3 slots available. We have a Paladin, a wizard and a cleric and a barbarian would be a good complement.

What you have done is the right thing. Look guys maybe you can complaint that it is my job but I revised character sheets by years for unexperienced players I am tired of that so please make it by yourself as cwslyclgh has done it, if you find something wrong please fix it, revise your character detailed and later post it, final character posting expected by saturday 28th at night.

I am using AD&D Forgotten Realms books, because I think no other system gave so detailed information about them, so imagina we are in the golden age of the realms that is the time when they were released by TSR.
