Request: Iconics Compiled

Pathfinder Player Companion

Would it be possible to get a Pathfinder Companion volume with the iconics compiled after they have all been published? What I would like to see in such a volume is their complete backstories, statblocks and equipment at selected levels and so on.

Pretty please with sugar on top?

A book just on the 12 Iconics would be pretty cool. I don't know if I want stat blocks of every single level... we already have 10 of 20 levels for the original 4 Iconics and some of those levels (1,6,7,8) have different builds.

That said, with what's been released so far, is 28 pages of stats (Not including flight of the raven) and we have a lot more to go between the next 4 iconics and the current 4, so I don't want just a big book of stats.

I wouldn't mind seeing 1,5,10,15 though along with expanded backgrounds and more about them we haven't seen yet.

Lets be serious for a second, 12 iconics.. 20 levels.. a lot of people are NOT going to buy a 240 page book with just stat blocks for 12 characters. :P

I doubt if they'd do it for a print, but a pdf would be awesome. All the iconics at, say, 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th levels? Lengthened backstories (for some) and perhaps notes on how to use them as NPCs in campaigns?

Yeah, that't exactly what I was thinking. And I for one would definately buy a print copy of that book (well, as a Companion subscriber I wouldn't have to if it were released under that brand).

I would hope that such a book would include enough new material about each Iconic to justify a print. Perhaps specific information of where they're from. Like Amiri, we know what happened to her, but what about the names on the hunters that tricked her, and other more detailed references. Real fluffy goodness about the iconics.

I would love an iconics book. Couldn't care less what version of the stats are used (but would certainly like there to be ONE set of stats). Mostly I would be curious to hear their official histories--both an expanded backstory, but also what they've done as adventurers.

A lot of the iconics don't fit their paths super well. In Runelords the PCs are assumed to be natives of Sandpoint, but none of the iconics are. Kyra is from Qadira, for cryin' out loud. In Crimson Throne the PCs are supposed to be locals with a private score to settle with the underworld thug Lamm. The iconics totally don't. Most of them (an old guy, a dwarf, and a halfling) could well be older than he is.

It'd be nice to know their real stories.

We've posted histories for all of them on the blog (well, Valeros kinda got skipped a little).

It's also worth remembering that they are provided as much as for pre-made PCs for use in adventures, but they aren't necessarily designed to be the BEST characters for those adventures. Once we get to Adventure Path 4 and start reusing them, I hope that'll be a little more obvious—after all, a PC is only 1st level once in a campaign, but it won't take long before the same iconics show up as 1st level example characters in MANY different adventures... hell, they already have, over in the modules.

The PRIMARY reason these guys have stats at all, in any case, isn't really to give players some characters to play, but because our readers asked for them. Well... they asked for the Dungeon magazine iconics' stats, and while we weren't able to provide those, we were for Pathfinder.

And now a lot of us are requesting an Iconics compilation. Seriously, you didn't just produce cookie cutter characters. Instead you made us really cool characters who've captured our interest.

So here we are now...

Like it or not James but your Iconics are your Elminster, Drizzt, Raistlin, Mordenkainen, Bigby, etc. and the fans demand more. :)

Yeah man. Curse you for making us fall in love with them! This is one doodle that can't be undid, home skillet!

Wow! I get to be cool and hip and jive like...um that dorky guy from The Office? Waitaminute...

OH MY GOD!

I actually watched that for two minutes... and umm it does look kind of funny and cool and ummm no wait

That is such a chick flick type of thing I need to watch some football and kill a small furry defenseless critter now!

ah-hem.

ummm yeah

Iconics yeah that's right... yeah they are the classic defining characters of Pathfinder now. Heroes worthy of their own books.

Speaking of which, rather than a collection of iconics I would rather see them in novels... a few hundred novels to be exact. An entire wing of the library number of novels.

No... really I do.

This might seem like a real 'Newb' question, but where can I view all of these Iconics? Are they all in one place?

Dark Archive

Add me to the list of people that would kill for an iconic compilation book. Select stats along with backstory would be awesome. To answer the person who asked where you can find the iconics, they aren't all in one place yet (in fact 4 of them haven't seen their stats in print at all yet). That said, Valeros, Seoni, Merisiel, and Kyra all debuted in Pathfinder #1 and their art is on the cover of volumes 1-4. The next 4 iconics were Ezren, Seelah, Harsk, and Lem and their stats debuted in Pathfinder #7. Their art is on the cover of volumes 5-8. The final 4 iconics are Amiri, Sajan, Lini, and Seltyiel. Their stats will debut in Pathfinder #13. Their art is on the covers of volumes 9-12.

All of them appear variously throughout the modules line at about the same time they appear in the AP line. Now that I think about it, they may appear first in the module line because I am pretty sure the first 4 appeared in Crown of the Kobold King before they appeared in AP Volume #1. Anyway, the fact that they aren't all in one place is a big part of the reason that many of us are clamoring for a compilation book. Hope that helps.

Well, yes and no. You can find all the iconics in the blog, but it's doubtful that you can call it one place since they are spread out over the months. Furthermore, some of the first iconics, like Valeros and Seoni, have a much smaller write-up than the later iconics.

Valeros (Fighter)

Seoni (Sorcerer)
Merisiel (Rogue)
Kyra (Cleric)
Ezren (Wizard)
Harsk (Ranger)
Seelah (Paladin)
Lem (Bard)
Sajah (Monk)
Amiri (Barbarian)
Lini (Druid)
Seltyiel (Fighter/Sorcerer)

I've been looking over my old AD&D books and I'd love to see said compilation book presented like Hall of Heroes and Heroes Lorebook.

You should check out some of Lilith's Seoni art then.. not safe for work though!

It's on her deviant art site.. I'm sure you can find the link on here somewhere.

Can anyone enlighten me regarding Sajah's weapon? A kama, or something else that counts as one?

Is this a call for a Pathfinder Swimsuit Edition?

Juno was a cool movie.... on topic. I wouldn't mind seeing a PDF book of expanded histories about the iconics.

Well, according to the write-up in second darkness its a temple sword, to me it looks like a khopesh sword. Neither of which have any stats I'm aware of.

According to the Golarion Campaign setting book, a temple sword is an exotic 1-h melee weapon. It does 1d8 dam (19-20,x2)and is a monk special weapon (which can be used to make trip attacks).

Having said that, I encourage ya'll to pick up the campaign book- it's full of some very cool stuff (including weapons like the kopesh).

Thanks Niel for checking up on the stats for these weapons. I currently do not have that book.

3.5 Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting has khopesh stats, but they're 2 handed. ;)

One assumes that he'll pick up Exotic Weapon Proficiency (temple sword) at 3rd level, to make it clear...

Somehow, I expect they'l work off the assumption that there monks are proficient in "all monk weapons" rather than the explicit list. Although, maybe not, since that's not how it's written up in Pathfinder beta.

Sajan's attacks write-up in Shadow in the Sky includes a -4 penalty on his temple sword, and as far as I can tell, that's the nonproficiency penalty.
