Yet another natural weapon question

Rules Questions

At first level an animal companion has a claw/claw/bite, all primary attack. As a full round action does he get to attack with all 3 or does he need to wait until BAB +6? I am pretty sure the two claws can attack together as a full round action regardless of BAB.

He get all natural attacks, no matter what his BAB is.

HK is correct. To expand;

At BAB +1 the AC gets claw/claw/bite at +1/+1/+1 (not factoring in any other bonuses)
At BAB +6, the AC gets claw/claw/bite at +6/+6/+6 (not factoring in any other bonuses).

The AC does not get iterative attacks with natural weapons regardless of BAB.

There's a minor caveat to this, but it's not relevant for this particular situation. I'm just mentioning it for other people who might happen upon this thread.

This AC has three natural attacks, so iterative attacks are never relevant. However, ACs with only one or two natural attacks actually get one iterative attack when they get Multiattack. So if your AC is a Wolf for instance, at 9th level the Wolf would get two bite attacks at +6/+1.

But the Big Cat AC, which has Claw/Claw/Bite, would get three attacks all at +6, as you said.

Thanks for clearing tha up. What about a PC with natural attacks whether by race, polymorph or wild shape? Would they get multiattacks or be treated the same as an animal companion?

The natural weapons rules for animal companions aren't for animal companions, it's for natural weapons.
All natural weapons follow those rules.

There's nothing general about the iterative attack option for a druid's animal companion.

The less-than-three natural attacks rule for Multiattack is something specific to animal companions. Only ACs (so far as I recall) can possibly get an iterative attack with a natural weapon. The reason they have the special rule is to allow ACs with fewer than three attacks to compete with the ubiquitous big cat.

So, big cats get three attacks all at full BAB and full STR. Wolves (for instance) get one attack twice, one at full BAB one at BAB-5, but both at 1.5 STR (since it's their only natural attack). They're roughly equivalent at that point.

EDIT: Forgot, eidolons follow the same rule. Which isn't surprising since it's kind of like a fancy AC.

Thanks for the tip! I was not aware of that!
